  • Wow. This is the same exact thing that happened to me. I was also at church camp and it was the last day and my friends noticed that I wouldn't wake up or eat and I was using the bathroom a lot, my friends mom and husband drive the van back to our city and I slept the while way there, and then I went into coma and was in the hospital for 6 days. It was horrible but I got a pump now and only have a few episodes here and there. Love this video! :)

  • From Shanice:

“And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.”

    James 5:15-16

  • its been a few years ,just watched this video..its been a while since ive watched it , my parents are awsome for doing what they do , made me tear up. now im on the pump and keeping my bloodsugar good, and thats me in the video if yall are wondering why im posting this. I LOVE GOD

  • what's the name of the song ?

  • Great video! Every parent needs to know the signs, my son was just 12 months old when he was diagnosed as a type-1, and we almost lost him to DKA. For 2 weeks I pleaded with doctors to test his blood, that I felt it was diabetes, as he had the bluish skin, and nail. When we finally go fed up and drove to the hospital, he was at 729. Now, a year later, he is on the pump, and doing well! His a1c is perfect! Keep fighting, and lets pray for the cure!

  • I know just how lucky I am watching videos like this. When I was diagnosed, I wasn't in DKA. Four years later and I've never once been in DKA. Actually a few weeks ago at camp I went unresponsive for the first time in four years. It scared the crap out of me. I'm lucky my diabetes is in such good control.

  • Thank God he's fine. :) Reminds me of when it happened to me when I was 10...woke up vomiting, felt like I was choking my tongue because it was so dry, and I just went completely limp and couldn't move...had to be carried to the car/E.R. DKA isn't enjoyable. :c

  • If you are going into ketoacidosis then you should be able to tell. That kid had to have felt like total shit. He would have never gotten to that point if he had told someone how he was feeling.

  • 339?!?! Damn.

  • Like mrydwchldn0506 it happened the same way I lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks pale as heck drinking about 20 galls in a day I was all ways looking for something to eat over 700 and they said to mi parents if we waited any longer like half hour or so I would have died from being so high. So I got really lucky thank god!

  • My daughter 17 was in intensive care with DKA - It makes me cry when I think of the day she was diagnosed and the day she went into ICU for DKA. Thank goodness mom that you are a scientist, doctor, nurse, and #1 mom.

  • My daughter was Dx when she was 3 years old. We had been to countless drs. but nothing helped. I finally called and said I wanted labs drawn. They called us a few hours later and told us to bring her to the ER because her sugar was over 700! We spent 3 days in the PICU and 3 days in the regular hospital. She is doing very well and on June 25th, 2010 we will be celebrating her 2 year mark.

  • Our son just died from Dibetes Ketoacidosis (JDRF Team Rocco Sarasota). Only 1 years old just celebrated his B-day Jan and he died in Jan. So happy to see this boy made it.

  • So thankful that your son is alive. You're a wonderful mother for doing what you did.

  • @Norb1t9 ---thank you soooo much! i've watched it 100 times and it still brings tears. we still can't believe how lucky we were that i was there @camp. incredible how fate played out.

  • @n01uno , Yes thank god your son is alive, he deserves the best health possible. That being said Have you read about MSG obese Diabetic Mice?

they Inject MSG in new born mice, to make them grow up Diabetic and Obese. The FDA, knew for more than 40 years that MSG triggers Diabetes ! they use it to cause it, so they can study it's effects in humans.

Yet its use is Unregulated in fast food. it makes you addicted to the food, and triggers diabetes, I know, because I'm diabetic also,

  • I live day to day with this as well, but only with God holding my hand! :-) He is right, God has a BIG plan for us. Juvenile diabetes has made me very sympathic for all disabilities, it has made me a hard worker, and most of all RESPONSIBLE. I am sure Brent shares these attirbutes. -Keeley

  • Keep fighting! We need a cure, but in the mean time we need to seek god's help and just have hope. Hold in there.

  • i see how you feel. i was diagnosed with diabetes and was in the hospital and i was nly nine. and ur right, god gave it to us for a reasin. he probaly thinks we are one of the stroongest people to deal with the pain and shots. ♥ maddy
