  • To Passy, thank you for sharing Asa to all of us! RIP Baba! Shem Hotep!

  • I most definitely agree about the effects of curriculum on self-esteem in in turn success.

  • R.I.P Baba Asa G. Hilliard...May he rest in peace!

  • R.I.P Dr. Hilliard

  • Will read him more.

  • This is very remarkable.

So many people act like urban kids are simply deficient. This is not so. You have to teach each student with a respect for who he or she is, with a belief that there is a special and unique talent and potential there. And you have to know that you'll never truly know what their lives are really like. The sooner you can be honest about that the better. But just because you don't know doesn't mean that you can't have empathy and let it show.

  • Beautiful. May his spirit live on in us.

  • A giant among men...; a giant among the ancestors...; a powerful and compelling force for the catalytic development/betterment of African people throughout the Diaspora..., and consequently the world at large.

    ~~Much respect, admiration, appreciation, and gratitude!, for such an outstanding man. : }

  • I had no idea he had passed. What an amazing human being. Changed my view on everything! See you in the next one Dr. Hilliard!

  • Just a few days ago our five year old found a photo and in it was she and Dr. Asa Hilliard.

Our daughter, asked when are we going to see him again. We said as soon as we make connection, not knowing that he had recently passed away. Za, our daughter was filled with joy just seeing herself as a baby in this great man arms.

A great friend...he will truly be missed.

    The Arri Family

  • A beautiful person. Gifted to us by the creator for the time he was here. One of the first people to open my eyes and mind wide with his knowledge. He felt just like a blood brother to me. He will truly...truly be missed.

    Rest in peace dear brother..

  • I miss him terribly. He was such a wonderful person and was one of the few people who believed in me.

  • REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER,

  • i never even knew my cousin. love though.<3

  • He made his transition from human life to spiritual life in the Valley of the Kings for he was one of their number. Ancestor Asa . . .

  • In Liberia, as superintendent of schools, he conceptualized, designed and created the Monrovia Consolidated School System to address systemic and institutionalized class divisions within the school system. Hence those without wealth or family connections could compete and gain access to education, going as far as their brainpower would take them. This was the nature and mettle of this man.

  • Was privileged to know this great soul since I was a child and he lived in my homeland, Liberia, West Africa. His was a healing presence, the personification of the most high definition of Pharaoh, Intellectual, Teacher, Scholar, Leader, Uncle, Doctor, Papa, Chief, King.

  • Wonderful. Thanks for posting.

  • I love you Uncle Asa you made me even more proud to be a Hilliard. You will allways live through our stories about our time s together.

  • ...(con't)Despite his intelligence and stature, he was down-to-earth. He made sure that everyone he taught, befriended, or loved felt special. He shared his genius openly. It was a blessing to have known such a wonderful person and an honor to have been able to call him my Baba. In loving memory...T.Wilson

  • Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, who I endearingly called Baba, was truly an extraordinary human being. Never before have I encountered an individual with his wealth of knowledge and insight on topics that affected people across the Diaspora...
