  • this video is what makes me certain that Tim Burton is waaay derivitive of the Quay Brothers.... he copied this for "THIS IS HALLOWEEN"

  • @GetStencilD Yes!!! When I was studying these videos it hadn't even occurred to me that Tim Burton had been so inspired by these guys and now looking back at it he stole so much from them. Not to say Tim Burton isn't a genius, because I fully believe he is.

  • @bigsteveno As a longtime fan of Pere Ubu and The Residents, I agree. This album has a lot of general feel in common with The Residents' work. Moreso than with their own work. I like it all.

  • the absurdist quality of this song and it's choppiness reminds me of the Residents....LOVE LOVE david thomas' voice

  • Cool song

  • A really interesting departure in form for the Quay boys! Visually, this is one of the most exciting works of animation I've recently seen.

    Thanks for sharing it!

  • This is better than Evil Nurse Sheila!

  • Even though I don't have any emotional or mental connection to this art at all, I'm glad I found it because it's another beautiful song by Pere Ubu and I can't get enough of their music. Maybe I'm not diverse enough to get anything out of it but it's nice to look at.

  • Oh dear, my brain has just liquidated and is all over the floor..

How am i going to get that out.?/

  • sound of brain cell apoppin love pere ubu, like pronounce it uba..big emotional acheivment rockonbonzo76

  • Sounds surprisingly like the Residents. Really looking forward to the upcoming release of the album.

  • YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!

  • Is Dagmar singing on this?

  • brilliant!

  • Which way is up? I mean, am I supposed to appreciate this through some sort of "ironic" prism? The face-value message is about long live [someone] with whom I am not familiar, and the art isn't pretty by classical standards.

  • Thanks for the critique, Baudelaire...I was surprised someone so pretentious and clever isn't familiar with Alfred Jarry...that was until I saw your 8 second video of your cat waving.

  • It's practically impossible to compare this to the standards of classical art. This type of art is completely different.

When it comes to this type of art, some people "get it" while others dont. (With this art those who "get it" dont always completely get the artists intent either) There are many things that can be taken from this type of art. Try to take something else from it. Instead of trying to understand it at face-value or on a deeper level, try to recognize the feeling you get from it.

  • this was meant in reply to the post a few below

  • Thanks for this Smog. Got more?

  • how bout a cd? Ubuprojex indicates this has been recorded.

  • perfect collaboration.

  • Marvelous!!!!

  • great. what about a dvd release of the event?

  • I think the band is planning more performances in 2009. I'm sure a DVD will be released sometime...

  • Long live Pere Ubu.
