  • i am so sorry to hear that this many people go through this i went through it for six years and i was raised by a wounderful family i was taken away from my mother when i was five and i owe my life to my brother because my mom had a mental illlness and he took care of me

  • I had a dream last night that I adopted a little sister and I can't get it out of my head, I want to adopt a little sister):

  • I was in Foster care from 5 to 18 yrs old, and it was hell yes its a step in a different direction taking a child out of a unsuitable home and placing them in foster care but most of the time its not a step into the right direction considering the different homes i went to.

  • I might go to a foster home tomorrow morning.

My sister and I are really sad and upset about it, but my little brother (Who is 4 years old) doesn't even know what it means. He's just so happy right now. It makes it even more sad to see the smile on his face. I barely have any chance to still live with my parents. Words can't describe how hard it is thinking about it. D:

  • Blood doesn't matter. These kids have to grow up way faster than other kids.

  • Sorry, I don't know much about foster care but from what I do know, I feel bad for those who are in it. Why do they change the homes of the children so often? Don't the foster parents want to keep the kids?

  • IM in college now doing okay plan to go into dentistry im 19 so if i can do it u can i believe in all the foster kids

  • Worst things is, I was in a foster home group home and shelter all in the same year. In jersey its hard man. I couldn’t even get independent at 17 cause my aunt wouldn’t sign her rights over so she could still clam me on her taxes. If you’re in foster care keep your head up. I know how you feel. My childhood was robbed from me hope it doesn’t happen to you. .

  • My foster care experience was horrible I never hear people talk about the homelessness after people turn 18.Or how they put the kids on medication not even the abuse. Man if you’re in foster care get your driver’s license and get good grades on the SAT at least college has dorms to live in.The adult world is harsh man. Plan for your future now, when u turn 16 get a job and save. You’ll have to take care of yourself some day and u don’t want to be unprepared. The more u rebel the harder it will be

  • We were foster parents for four years before [open] adopting four children out of the system. They are wonderful children and we are so happy to have them as part of our family. We visit their birth mother a lot, too, and she has been a welcome addition to our family as well.

  • I was a foster kid myself. I will not lie to you. I went in to the system at 14 exactly. I cannot say I was in there at 5, or 9. I can imagine it was a bit harder for those who went in earlier. Everything you say is true, but remember there is a lot of us out there. I am soon to graduate college thanks to some good foster parents. If this is not the case for you please get in touch with a social worker or an organization. I am proof that it can happen for you too.

  • my cusins are in foster care right now we tryed to get them but we failed they are only two and six ive also been in foster care im in right now i hate it

  • my cusins are in foster care right now we tryed to get them but we failed they are only two and six

  • i dont know how foster care feels like cause ive never been in foster care but i know what it feels like to never be able to stay at one place and one school im always moving and it sucks

  • You see? You're not alone. I see these young men and women and I'm humbled by their strength- it takes bravery and strength to be without a family as a young person hell even as an adult- but I say to you going through this LOOK TO THE FUTURE- YOUR LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS you have the power to find love and kindness and LIFE and happiness- When you love yourself and others you receive love back be STRONG, GOOD PERSON be kind be responsible-have high standards for yourself you have the STRENGTH

  • This video shows the more positive view of foster homes, its too bad not all foster homes are as okay as the ones illustrated in this video. The many I have "lived" in have been horrendous, hard for me to have a respect for this system. My real parents were at least familiar forms of abuse, at least I knew what they wanted from me, then to have a stranger demand, slave drive and abuse me.

  • hi i was in foster care and it was very hard i went through three abusive homes till 18 then i had to move in my own place it was very hard because of my abuse i got ptsd and i deal with this everyday.there isent enough support out there for kids that have gone through abusive foster homes if theres anyone who has gone through this email me i find that if youve been though this you can understand more what others are going through its not easy to get through but its possible

  • i really wish every kid in the world has true love from their parents

  • i've been in foster care for almost ten years now. I have found permancey about three years ago with my grandparents. so many kids don't have that, it makes me sad. we need more foster parents and homes. we deffantly need ones to take large siblings groups and troubled kids. lets do it.

  • we need parents that want to do this because they have love to give.

  • @5fdp4eva i was in foster care also ; i was in for about 5 or 6 years ; then finally i found a home that was willing to adopt me and all my emotions ; i am so grateful for my new family ; everything will be okay everything will work out in your favor ; and i hope things are better for you.

  • ive been in the foster care system for a long time since i was a little girl im 18 now but it was really hard but you have to strong

  • @chooseywinner yes you do !

  • more like 460,900 in care

  • I been in foster care 10 years because of my VERY abusive and non-caring parents.

  • wow brings back alot of memorys, i have been in foster care for 18 years and been to 79 foster homes. I was born in NZ and fostered to America when i was 6 months old to 5 years old then returned back to NZ. I lived in Sanbernadino. I know what it is like to have the suitcase ready, i know what its like to have one eye opened well you sleep. I know what it is like to see foster parents children treated better than you. I know what it is like to be told you are loved only to wave goodbye.

  • Check out my Face Book Page. Foster Care Kids. Encourage others and Share stories. A place for children to come together and be heard.

  • foster care really more like hell please show the real side of the system people please yes i can talk because i was in the system for 13years 6 foster homes and these foster parents really they care really yeah right they do this just for that monthly check.htey put you in one neglected home to throw u in another im 26 and im still traumatized by my past.

  • @leelulove24 I hear you i to have seen death in front of my eyes, but one must make a choice live or be lived. You wont let it go so use it to your advantage. Play the game they once played.

  • @leelulove24 ok 4 adopting i dont know how much money they give the foster parents thats one thing i dont no due to i never was adopted i was just a foster child floating around the system i didnt want to be adopted because the fear of what ive seen both of my brothers go threw they were adopted and the persons that adopted them kick them out to the streets at 12 13 and the cops pick them up and put them in different group homes wow group homes thats another story.

  • I lived in an orphange for two years "really abusive but there were some good times, great education and found a couple who wanetd to adopted. It was written in my records I could not ever go home and I could not communicate with my sisters and brothers.. That foster home was a living hell the abusive so much I would cried at night alot. I am now talking about my experiences & I'm glad other foster kids are telling their stories not by a non foster kid.

  • I hate foster care and hate the foster parents. The foster system needs to die, before others die, I will not let my siblings die, I will take them out of this dum usa, I hate usa as wel.

  • For teenagers, the foster home has to teach them to prepare their own meals, shop for groceries, look for a part-time job, etc. Foster home should not be a prison; no locking the kid in his/her room at night, no treating your biological kids and fster kids differently.

  • @MondoBeno yes but this is one of the most common issues. every placement is exactly what you say. I agree they should give the tools of life

  • @3:45 you can see me like 4 years ago!! Wow

  • It would only take 1% of all Americans to empty the entire US foster care system

  • Why are the kids moved so much when THEY don't like the moving? Do the foster parents decied they don't want tht child?

  • i want to adopt a kid one day

  • I cant wait to become a foster parent! I came from a big family. I have a lot of Love to give as I receive my Love from Jesus Christ; I have to give all this love I have away. Children are an inheritance from the Lord. Who ever recieve a child in Jesus name receives Him. We have to love the children. God continue to bless the children.

  • i know what it feels like im fosterd and im only 12

  • GAO is seeking information regarding cases in which state foster children have been prescribed psychotropic medication outside of federal regulations or accepted medical standards of practice. If you have information e-mail GAO at FosterKids@gao.gov.

  • :(

Makes me appreciate my parents/family more.

My best friend is a Foster child... but she's so close with her Foster mom, I wonder why she doesn't just adopt her? >.>

  • i want to adpot a little 6 year old girl, she's in foster care but i don't know if she's open for adpoting, i know her mom lost her( her mom is a drug addict and she's in jail) i dont know anything about her Father, but since I met this little girl she won my heart ,

  • @Shukria123 Great! They wouldn't want a racist mother like you anyway.

  • @Shukria123 You should go for an Asian. They are good at maths.

  • @Shukria123

I wouldn't want to be adopted by you either : /

  • Im 18 and now adopted i went through 2 crap homes that try to hit me i live door all my life and my mom was a drug addicting psychopath that wanted money and love and was cold hearted and abused me and i never had a father. Never any friends, and always made fun of because i was in special ed. and now i have a family i am very great full for now having what i always wanted. We live though tougher situations then every other kid, but now that makes us twice as strong and were always one stepahead

  • ive decided now when i am older (im only 14 so much older) i am going to foster a child, maybe at the oldest 10 though, i dont know but older kids feel as if they carry too much emotional baggage, i just made myself feel really guilty for saying that but i think it is a bit easier. i think if i fostered twice though i wold get an older and a younger. i am 14 so if i was in care i would want someone to think of fostering me when people foster ive noticed too thats its mostly girls, i want girls x

  • I am about to cry...Right when she said "Mom and Dad" at 5:10...6:48 he is funny. He said "Act a fool". Also, he said 'Prayer come true'....I really like that a lot better than 'dream come true'.

  • u think that we have it good but in the end we dont

  • SOme of these kids are in "foster care" for way too many years. There is no permanency for these kids. To have kids without a "family" for years just seems so wrong.

  • @schnauzermomof2 Child's services made a mistake in trying to fill the demands of their clients.Clients want babies, not older kids.Kids grow up fast and remember their past, clients don't want that. The younger the better.

  • These kids are amazing, their honesty, courage and resilience blows my mind- thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video.

  • I have fostered six kids but the teenager proved to be too difficult to try to parent.

  • Hi I am thinking of fostering a 14 year old girl, i have thought it through carefully & have descided to get an application form I am just wondering if anyone on here has fostered & how was there experience and any teenagers that have some helpful information. Anything will be apprieated xxx Thank you all :)

  • @elliebabe155 I think its a good idea for you to foster older kids, as long as you treat them with respect the y will respect you back. if you show that you truely care about them they will learn to care about you also.

  • @elliebabe155,

the reward will not start right away...THE CHILD MAY GIVE BACK BY THEIR MID TWENTIES OR THIRTIES. The only thing is DO NOT GIVE UP!!! AND DON'T DO IT BECAUSE THE CHILD OWES YOU!!! and BONDING WILL TAKE AN AVERAGE OF 5 TO 10 YEARS...FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT BECAUSE IT WILL BE A BUMPY RIDE !

  • I feel the same way as you simie89. I was in seven homes and only one of them were actually nice (the one that I am in now). I am adopted now though. Almost all of my siblings already aged out of the system. I know how you feel.

  • this is a ok video but what they dont talk about are the bad faoster parents, i can speak on this subject because i was in foster care i got out when i was 18, but though there may be some good foster parents there are defenitly more bad ones then good ones, what most people dont relize is that these foster parents get paid to take care of these children and there is a reason why the foster homes are so over croweded and that is because alot of foster parents are only in it

  • for the money and alot of the parents really dont care about the kids, my last foster "mom" made up lies about me and my little sister so we would be separeated, and when i left when i was 18 becasue she was going to get rid of me, she then told our case workers that i was going to try to kiddnape my sister so they moved her away from me. I just want people to relize what it is really like for foster kids, we can never trust our foster parents until they show us they care, which isnt often.

  • @simie89 hi i am thinking of fostering a teenager 'girl' and since you was in foster care i was just wondering if you could tell me anything about it? Thank you xx

  • @simie89 wow were both in the same boat i know how you feel i was in the system for 13 years 6foster homes and the truth is never told.and yes you dont see 1 dime of that check

  • Oh my goodness, this is exactly how I feel!

  • Wow, foster care is stressful! This is subject to suicidal thoughts.

  • @MsGeorgeMan thank god your not a foster parent we dont need more bad foster parents taking kids in.

  • Thank you for showing these videos. It makes me not as intimidated in considering older child (teen)adoption. I currently want to adopt ages 0-10.

  • @krystonp You're welcome.

  • @adoptuskids My husband and I are currently looking into adopting. These videos break my heart and I want to do what I can to help.
