totally agree, Woodworking is definitely not restricted to high end cabinet making. I made a jewelry box using cheap slats of timber, a saw and a bit of creativity on my kitchen table. Great to be inspired by such a funny man such as yourself. I'm look forward to some great projects in 2012.

I hate it when people say to someone that they look like a celebrity. It's just rude. It's like, in their eyes, the greatest accomplisement that you could ever do is to look like a celebrity. For those kind of people it wouldn't even matter if you have found the cure for cancer, for them you will always be the guy who looked like X.

Every time you draw blood while working in your shop over the next year, you could put a bloody finger print on the box. At the end of the year you could recount the horrors and remind everyone not to make the same mistakes. Somehow I think Steve can appreciate this type of morbid humor. :)

Right now I'm half way through my last 2011 project which is a working wooden padlock! I copied the mechanism from a youtube video. I've been tinkering for hours now and FINALLY have the locking mechanism working! Now I just need to make the key and that mechanism.
It's very rewarding when the lock finally clicks! I would recommend it as a really cool project it would make anyone proud to have made! I could send you a design if you like but I would need to work on it a little more :)
I liked your comment on "House" I think you should make a cane and I can't wait to see the video you make to go alone with it. I'd be more excited about the video than the cane project.
