@lightningsmokerXx Which is exactly why Gunter lost like 60 pounds of muscle when he retired right after 2006. He's putting his all into acting. The biggest he ever got was before the 2002 Olympia, where he competed at just over 300 pounds, and got to around 340 offseason to be that big. That was 340 with rock hard abs too. Most other years he would be smaller than his contest weight offseason and Pre-Bulk before cutting. These days he's about 280 and lean enough to have abs.

@meathead320 The reason he rarely got super heavy offseason was it felt uncomfortable. Hard to move his own mass around. I think he feels much better now at a relatively smaller body weight to be an actor, as its not like he has to have the extra mass to compete any more. Lighter, but much healthier.

Actually that is not true, average height in Germany is 5'9.5" about the same as the US. Denmark and Norway are taller countries, Australia is also taller.

There is no way he can get that kind of mass without roids, unless he has some kind of genetics that are off the charts, most guys at my gym with that kind of mass are using Anabolics and HGH to build that level of mass.

In pro bb all competitors have been using steroids since the late 50's. HGH use probably started late 80's early 90's. They all use both now, they have to, to be able to compete at that level.

It's a lot about having someone with a honest opinion. And the experience someone like Charles Glass brings is the different things you can do to bring out the details.

Now this is a more recent thing in bodybuilding, everyone is trying to be the best so they get whoever is out there to try to improve there physiques.

Just trying things yourself takes too long, if you want to be the best you need to get those people who already have the experience.

I met Gunter at WA Iron Man 2007 and I can truly say he is a kind and humble man. He gave me a signed picture and asked me some questions about me competing for the first time and wished me luck. I will never forget that experience!

Gunter was the only 6ft plus bodybuilder to fill out his frame at his height. Most taller bodybuilders are never able to fill out their frame because of height restrictions, but Gunter was the exception. One of the great uncrowned Mr. Olympias!

Gunther is magnificent to see. But I have to say, I love watching him most is in the movie BeerFest. Goofy movie that totally grows on you the more you watch it. i know charles glass is the trainer of champions but his methods didnt work for gunther! the full range of motion method doent work well for someone with long muscle heads!! in order to bulk the muscle out gunther should of been doing fast short full power reps it would of blown him up alot more!!-b4 he trained with glass he reached 4th with glass he got 10th i kinow he is getting old but i think glasses way was not right for gunther-just my opinion!!

Warrier thats not right. From 2002 günter trained with charles glass. And in 2002 he stole the show at the olympia ! He reached 2002 place 5, 2003 place 5 and 2004 place 4 !! In every year with charles glass !

Exactly.Mike Quinn said that when they win a contest some of these guys have to then pay the trainer 2-3 thousand dollars.I would just train without one and maybe have a nutritionist like you said to help with diet.

Well if you consider the fact that arnold competed (for the most part) 30+ years ago, when bodybuilding science wasn't as far along and well armed, it's not all that suprising. This would be why Ronne Coleman and Arnold have been quoted as praising the other as the greatest BB of all time, regardless of size or appealing aesthetics. It's about working with all the tools you have, and modern bodybuilders have more tools, plain and simple.
