Too sad. I've seen Bondarenko in other ocassions and she definetely plays better than this. She actually was in the top 20 and was more agile, fast, and she used to hit harder. Also, Williams is just an incredibly powerful player and for Bondarenko that has not played in months and has not played in her best form in years is just almost impossible to stand the power of the younger Williams.

i quite like Bondarenko but she seems to have a terrible weak backhand, really needs improvement if she wants to get anywhere.

playing against Serena though, no one should feel bad about losing to her, the best players have lost to Serena, women and men :P

Serena was at her clinical best against the evening’s competitive speed bump, Bondarenko. This kinda of gettin screwed looks bad for TV. Serena's groundstrokes have mustard on them, holy fuck.

I am not sure but I remember when she talked with Patrick McEnroe and MJ Fernandez and they were saying that according to how she does with ALL of the warm-up tournaments, that she could possibly be seeded at the Open. Not sure though... def have to find out

I think Serena felt bad for Bondarenko after the first set so she let her have a few games. Plus Toronto is already suffering from the poor performance from most of the tennis stars I guess Serena felt obligated to stay on court just a little longer. lol

Lol thanks, i just think that Caroline shouldn't be in the number 1 spot, i like her, but no not number 1. Clijsters needs to hurry and come back so she can possibly have a showdown with Serena. And Sharapova needs to find her game so these three women can make women' s Tennis interesting again. I love all of these players i dont see why people hate Serena or Clijsters or Sharapova, this is tennis keep it simple lol

@wiseguyknowsit I felt she could take the title with or without their withdrawal as Kim and Venus haven't played in forever. Its up to Serena whether she wants to take it. Either way, I see her being in top form for the US Open. She already won Stanford (impressively) and whether she wins or loses here or Cincinatti, its great match play and she'll be ready at the Open. So glad she's back!! Way too good!!

@jamalp1488 I meant with Kim or Venus around it wasn't a sure thing she would take it because those 2 can bounce back after long lay offs and they're fighters. But now it's almost a sure thing she would take this title if keeps playing like this. But yes I agree 100% with you. I'm glad she's taking smaller tournaments like majors now. It's so awesome to watch!

@wiseguyknowsit I got you. I agree. Even with her match today against Goerges, I think Serena forgot that she is taking these non-majors serious so she had a little dip in play then realized "wait a minute, this is the new Serena and I'm trying to win everything" lol! It is def great to watch!!
