They did destroy many old Chargers. Way back when the show was on, an article in TV Guide said the producers were having a hard time finding Chargers and they were actually leaving notes on windshields wanting to buy them. Thank goodness they weren't using Chevelles!!

They weren't classics then. The 2005 movies were a waste of Chargers. But when the original car was made it was a cheap car that was low in demand. Why do you think they used the Charger in the first place? They didn't have a very big budget when they started the show.

@mypeters131 Stunt driver Buzz Bundy did that jump. He was using a 'bungee' system to partially suspend himself while performing the stunt - but it was still a heavy landing with risk to the stunt driver! I got in touch with another stunt driver who performed many jumps for that show - he told me about the 'bungee' suspension system.

Especially the last one they made...the straight to DVD one. That one was just HORRIBLE! Whoever made that steaming pile of shit ought to be strung by their nuts! I was troubled by how all of the characters were portrayed, Cooter in particular. Cooter WAS NOT gay. How about the cheesy way they found the General Lee? That doesn't jive with the way the General Lee came about in the tv series. The whole movie is like a really bad SNL parody of The Dukes Of Hazzard.

you forgot the BEST jump ever cought on film.. the ORIGINAL Elleanor, from the ORIGINAL 'gone in 60 seconds'.. the 73 mustang goes 250' and whats amazing, the uni-body holds together (unlke the 74 torino)! - and it was done before 'special effects'! --the movie was short on plot, but LONG on crashes!

yeah its always amused me how cars always land flatish when they hit. as somone who jumped a car doing bout 120. i tell you what. front heavy cars DO NOT land flet. i ended up haveing to almost right the car off from front end damage from the nosedive into the ground my car made XD

Yeah, but back then Chargers were dime-a-dozen cars. Weren't sought after or anything special. That was 32 years ago. Now they're sought after and expensive. That car was just 9 when it went up that ramp at 0:53. You wouldn't be too upset if they chucked a 2000 Mustang offa ramp. 30 some years from now is a different story when those cars are 40 years old. I'm not mad at ya buddy, but do ya see my point?
