Yes, Zoo's are not natural habitats for Tiger. However the alternative for especially the Bengal tiger is in reserves either being chased morons in trucks who want to see tigers in a 'natural' environment, or being hunted by townsfolk who want to protect their livelihoods and families. For the time being, until either the worlds poorest people stop making a living off of livestock reared near Tiger habitats or Tiger learn to stay away, Zoo's are a necessary evil.

While I agree depression is a concern. I wouldn't say it's prevalent for ALL the animals. Most zoos try their best for the animals. Most.

And u need to explain to us how daily predation is not a mental stress on an animal. It is the main purpose of an organism to pass on its genes. Evading predation helps.
