  • Wonderful x

  • of course they make judas black

  • I love this version :) I have the video on my bedside shelf, I love it, love it, love it!

  • I love this movie and I feel that it really put Judas in the proper light as the real martyr.

  • 4 dislikes? jesus christ(superstar)

  • Fantastic voice!

  • I heard somewhere that this guy was the back-up singer/actor since the original died (I don't know if this is true or not), but if he's this good, can you imagine what the original guy sounded like?

  • I dying to sin!

  • I LOVE THIS MAN !!!!!

  • the Cast of THE JESUS CHRIST SOPERSTAR had to be chosen by GOD, I guess...

    (although, i m not a religious one:)

  • I was 14 when I first heard this song...still carries the same weight it did then. Awesome...

  • Even though I am Pagan I LOVE this song and in fact the whole musical. It has been my dream since high school to be able to sing the part of Judas on stage - but not really going to happen for a girl or not woman. Carl was the perfect choice for this part - on the album, movie and on stage which I was lucky enough to see him perform in Denver about 12 or so years ago with Ted Neeley ( would have perfered Ian Gillian but Ted was good too).

  • most would consider me an atheist for not believing in christ (i still believe in a God im just not catholic) but damn i love this song :)

  • its so epic :3. this is the musical ar=t my school this year, hope im Judas.

  • just listened to the 2000 edition, wish i had not...

  • hi guys

  • Brilliant.

  • u doubt me?

  • One of the greatest songs that no one has heard of all time. Carl Anderson was born for this role.

  • powerful

  • I love this!

  • Lloyd-Webber / Rice classic, treated respectfully by Jewison. As timeless as its many mixed messages. First saw it at the cinema with my parents in 1974, then got the soundtrack on cassette. Wore that out. Found it on DVD about 5 years ago. Use it to annoy the wife by playing it as loud as I can.

  • the one thing i dont get out of the entire musical is that the gaurds have guns which werent around then, mmmmmm, weird.

  • iudas glu glu...

  • *-*

  • One of the most powerful songs i have ever heard and delivered by an amazing vocalist.

This movie took me on a path of critical thinking that lead me from being a Catholic to a Christian (in more general terms) to being a Born Again Christian and then believing Christ was truly the last Christian and trying to be a Christian and finally to Atheism.

Hell of a ride and worth every moment.

This song was going through my head for the past several days which is why i ended up here.

    Thank you.

  • @xoites877 Witches, kill them. Homosexuals, kill them.fortunetellers, kill them. those who don`t listen to priests, kill them. those hitting their dad, kill them. those who curse their parents, kill them, adulterers, kill them. fornicators, kill them. people who believe in other religions, kill them. non-believers,kill them. fals prohets ,kill them. blasphemers, kill them. those who work on the Sabbath, kill them. This is the word of Jesus ( god) ?

  • @ndzoko No, they just don't get eternal life in Heaven

  • @movelea Your belief is not mainstream christianity. Did god in the Old-Testament order all those people murdered, Yes or no ?

  • @ndzoko Witches were to be killed. God smote one homosexual and a father killed his homosexual son for going against God's creation. Those who don't listen to priests, people hitting their dad, those who curse their parents were to be taught the "right" way of doing things. Fornicators and adulterers were stonned to death in society already.False prophets were not to be trusted. Blasphemers, those who work on the Sabbath went to Hell. But that was the old testement before Jesus.

  • @ndzoko Jesus taught that to be with God after death we only must treat others as we wish to be treated, in other words: don't be a jerk and you'll make it in. When Jesus came the old rules died, and are no longer neccessities. We needn't follow them anymore because Jesus changed them.

Sorry that took two posts. I hope I answered your question.

  • @ndzoko Yes, God is not a nice little pet you can put in a box.

  • @get30inc God is not a nice little pet you can put in a box. >>> He certainly is not. He looks more like a professional executioner.or a hangman !!

  • I'm an atheist but I sing songs from this movie all the time. Everyone is like "waddafuck"

  • i hate to admit it but i think i have alot in common with Judas, he is so troubled yet so frustrated to do the world good

  • Makes me wish it was all true

  • Fabulous.......have loved it for as long as I remember and I'm 44 now:) thank you x

  • I don't need the words, I know this off by heart lol - but thanks for posting for the others ;) I love this JCSP - and Carl is the best Judas ever!!

  • Amazing musical, seen it so many times now!

  • Your followers are blind! Too much heaven on their minds...

  • This song is so cool!

  • such a awesome song

  • Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

  • Judas was actually the main character in this. Back in the day, I saw a live performance with Ian Gillian (of Deep Purple) playing Christ.

  • Gracias por tan bello trabajo... Felicidades

  • Judahs you were right...

  • @realtalkworld1 what's that supposed to mean?

  • this jesus christ sucks - they're all to "musical theater", can't sing half as good the original is quite badass

  • I don't think he (Judas) would like that Lady Gaga song.

  • Carl had the most beautiful and emotive voice I have ever heard.

  • @MermaidBlueFins i agree!! sung with utter justifaction

  • Carl has the most beautiful voice.

  • This is much better than 2000 version in my opinion!!!

  • @horsedog1296 Any version without Carl Anderson sucks!

  • @LakeErieMermaid1 Hear, Hear!

  • @LakeErieMermaid1 i agree!

  • the 2000 version ruined it!!!!!!! This is way better....

  • This (JC Superstar) is a classic. I watched the movie in '74 and I still watch it today on DVD during Lent.

  • Love this song..really powerful.....and I`m Wiccan..

  • best music, voices and looks in a musical ever

  • 2 people pressed the dislike button in sync with 2:49

  • I remember being 10 and finally getting to see this movie (':

  • From all the JCS movies I`ve seen, this is the best. Great actors singers, and I have grown closer to god through this movie, Gethsemane is the highlight, Ted neely`s singing superb!

  • This singer is awesome

  • If only we could strip the myth from the man... Si tan solo pudieramos separar al hombre del mito.

  • 2 people have no heaven on their minds

  • I totally area with you about not wanting anyone to post hate messages, I have seen comments where hate groups use a site to use it for a plat form that has nothing to do with the video.

  • I was so obsessed with this movie back in the 80"s that I wrote eavery single word on a school notebook. I still remember every line. The voices and scenes were and still are amazing!!!

  • R.I.P. Carl Anderson Our loss is God's gain

  • "You've begun to matter more Than the things you say." sadly this is often the case in modern times.

  • Like I've said before, this movie has so much feeling.

  • I've seen Carl Anderson do this live a few years back in Hampton Va. He was Magnificient, hasn't lost any ability some 30 years later. Terrrific song, terrific musical!

  • @lugench I love him too. Sorry to learn he died about 6 years ago.

  • @manila7979 glad to hear! you are correct about his death. Apparently he lost a tough battle with cancer. I was fortunate enough to see one of his last shows which originally was supposed to have reunited several of the orginial cast from the movie including Ted Neeley (which I got to see Ted Neeley live as well as he continued the tour in honor of the late Carl Anderson). BTW Anderson is a native from my hometown of Lynchburg Virginia; the local School's auditorium is even named after him.

  • No hate from me...fabulous musical for it's time. ;) Brought a new perspective to

    Christianity.

  • Video is great. Love it. So funky!

  • HATE this video

  • @Mccm 2:50

  • @Mccm why do you hate this video my friend?

  • Great show, great lyrics AND Carl Anderson!

After waching this show I stared to somehow feel pity for Juda.

its not easy to be damned for 2K years

  • "Every word you say today, gets twisted 'round some other way." Damn right.

  • ...and they'll hurt you if they find you're wrong... hasn't happened by now?

  • Great singing, awesome gym-like guitars

  • talent , actually the versions are gay

  • And now things have not changed one bit, the Christians have become intolerant and hateful, and do have too much heaven on their minds, while not thinking about their behavior on this good old earth.

  • that guy is awesome

  • THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SONG.

  • amazing

  • Those cats could really sing.

  • not only are the songs awsome, the singers are off the hook.

  • My Friends Singing This In Our School Play he is Judas :')

  • That bald guy in the leather jacket from 2000 watches this video every night... and cries.

  • Who are the 2 aliens that dont like this?

  • This is the most awesome musical EVER made. I have been a die hard fan since the day they released it.

  • @LYNAEHANSON i owuld call Hair better, but this is definitely one of the best

  • @LYNAEHANSON

Agree! Listening almost every day. One can never be bored...!

  • @LYNAEHANSON I agree--definitely my favorite musical too. My mother bought this on 8-Track, lol...by the time I was 8 (1977), I knew all the words to the whole thing.

  • I probably sang these words more than any other...

  • I went to the 2000 one. Ted Neeley still has it! R.I.P Carl Anderson!

  • Probably the best musical of all time!!!

  • I've been to the holy land! :D

  • I like that Judas' jaw moves with the notes, I am glad that I am not the only one. lol

I will never understand people whom like the 2000 version over this one, why? The Judas in the 2000 version is nothing compared to this one. Same with Jesus! lol

Come on people we are talking about Ted FREAKING Neely (not sure how to spell last name). I mean that is like comparing that little girl from America's got talent to Sarah Brightman, its just insane!

  • i think this is a great song, and this is an interesting view on christ's life when he is older, also it gives some insite on judas's feelings :)

  • If you strip away the Myth from the man then you will see where we all soon will be...

  • I used to be a big fan of this musical when i was a kid!

And it's much better than the 2000 version, that one is just gay!

at least in the old version the betrayer is played by a black guy :P

  • The best JCS ever!

  • yay for judas, I don;t think he was a traitor, but more a cautious man who sort of has been used for someone elses greater glory

  • @gaoth88 yeah he was a pawn in this story and for that i feel for him

  • @gaoth88 yeah he was a pawn in this story and for that i feel for him

he s also got a fantastic voice

  • Judas if you stood a little closer he might actually hear you.

  • @Leibinz lol that made my day hahahahahaha

  • @Leibinz ! MAYBE THAT'S LIKE A METAPHOR!!!!!

  • @Leibinz lol- I think maybe he didn't really want to be heard

  • @Leibinz hahahahahahaha lol......Quite a preseptive comment...!!!!!!!

  • @Leibinz Jesus was a bit like Prince Charles. He was all ears :)

  • @Leibinz Hahahahah, just stopped none stop laughing for 5 minutes! Brilliant comment!!

  • I saw the twenty fifth aniversary show, simply fantastic.

  • I foung the biggest /b/tard and retard on earth...

Thats the one who DISLIKED this video!

  • This movie touched alot of people in different ways.It got me hooked. love it.

  • When I was a kid my parents had the soundtrack in one of those old tapes. I knew a song or two, but didn't matter much about it. But years ago I stumbled upon it and saw the film and was amazed. What a incredible talent in the songs and the performers! I really LOVE it.

  • @tatosofreak Great movie!

  • BEST DAMN MUSICAL ON EARTH !!!!

  • Great. . I very like it

  • No ones attempt to play Judas even comes close to Carl Anderson.

  • he is an amazing singer

  • I have learnt more about the bible from this film, than the bible itself..

  • 1 retarded person watched this video

  • @VVVradicalman123VVV That's not a nice thing to say.

  • @dirkovic2112 He is saying that because one person disliked it. He is saying that they must be retarded not to like it.

  • Why would anybody hate this? It's great music.

  • @akoplewitz - It's interesting that you don't like that particular song as it was the only new song written for the movie that wasn't in the Broadway show. I love it myself. I have always thought it to be beautiful and poignant. But that's what makes the world go 'round, eh?

  • LOVE it very much! Thank you! )) Best!!!

  • Even though I'm an atheist, I still find this movie to be pretty good..

  • brings tears to my eyes... when i was a wee nipper we livedway out in the piney boondocks in a log cabin,my dad ( a carpenter ) built . he rigged up a record player to a car battery and we would listen to this on sundays. and i can't think of a bad song on the whole list...

  • Love this. I have the feeling that the cast sings live on this film. The soundtrack vocals sound slightly different. Anybody knows?

  • epic

  • This movie was ironically at least in part responsible from my drift from catholicism. I always felt bad for Judas, i felt like god shafted him and somewhat forced him to betray his best friend. I also feel like Jesus got boned.

  • I know every song by heart. I've always loved it. Thanks for posting.

  • beautiful music!

  • Miss you Carl

  • One of my highlights in my life was meeting Carl Anderson and Ted Neely when the production came to my town, i was able to go backstage and meet them......I was honestly star struck, this was and is still my favorite musical of all time......Les Miserables is 2nd....I love this song sooo much.

  • @Mileneum69

I'm not being smart - aleck or anything else, honestly, but has Ted Neely done any other roles ? I know that Carl Anderson is dead. This movie was REALLY controversial back in its day. Part of the controversy was that you had a black actor as Judas.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Yes he has done a few other roles in movies way back in the 70s his last movie he was in was made in liek 1980 something, in the early 80s, cant rememeber ill have too look him up on Imdb later. He was in the 1970s movie Starsky and hutch....lol small role but he wa sin it...lol

  • @Mileneum69

I think he got TOO typecast, and so did Carl Anderson.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Carl Anderson was also in Starsky and Hutch...lol i didnt know that til now.

  • @Mileneum69 - Like I said, they BOTH got typecast, even though there are worse roles to get typecast into.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Neeley has. as previously stated, been in plenty of small parts in TV shows, such as S&H. He also starred in Odysseus, and his first role was the lead? in Hair. That show got him the JCS gig. And I'm sure he's been in plenty others.

  • @Valcarion - Interesting. He once said, he wished that he could get an acting role like one of Jack Nicholson's, but he still felt like he was in a good place. They did an interview with him that was really insightfully done. It's on here.

  • I love how this film gives Judas' point of view on Christ and tries to give an explanation for his actions. After all, if he were just plain evil, why would Christ give him a place amongst his followers?

No, the road to Hell is made of good intentions.

  • i love the vocal stylings on this song!!!!!!!! i'm not at all religious but love the musical and movie

  • Great song from an amazing musical. Thanks for posting.

  • I love the movie and that's one of the best songs in it *.*

  • 2nd best music of this musical...

  • Great song!!! Carl Anderson was a very powerful singer....full of emotion!! RIP

  • No-one can touch this performance. I have heard them all. None. This is his.

  • I love his voice ! :D

  • whats up with this version ???

  • Every lyric memorized. It's that fucking awesome.
