  • Chuck Norris' idea of a Christmas Carol...

  • Jimi sings better but SRV plays better imho. But they are right next to eachother in talent, it's just that SRV just makes it sound better and controlled. He just seems to harness it, hard to explain. The guys are the best, put Jimi in 1989 and Stevie in 1969 and they'd both probably be just as big as eachother. They could play, and boy could they dress lol. Guitar gods.

  • @wheelmanstan agreed :)

  • WATCH MY VERSION ON MY CHANNEL !!

  • blackhawk down

  • Ha, no, But could you imagine how good he would have sounded on a gibson les paul? You know his notes were all there, so much better than hendrix, and i mean my god if Hendrix had played a les paul? That would have been fire.

  • I prefer Les Pauls too but this is hilarious. I'm sure Hendrix and Stevie Ray both played Les Pauls before settling on their Stratocasters. Strats have more sounds (5 vs. 3) and a whammy bar -- that's why they chose them. Your premise -- that they would have sounded better playing a Les Paul -- is ridiculous. Different, but not necessarily better.

  • @1888guitars Love me a Les Paul but Strats are more versatile when it comes to sound. Check out Steve Miller jamming at Iridium with Les Paul, playing a Strat.

  • Wow Jimi was better singer but Wow Stevie is really good

  • Jimi sings it a little better, but i cant really say one guitar.... If jimi n stevie wouldnt have died, n they played this together... That would be gods concert

  • Jimi Created it. Stevie perfected it!!!!

  • @SoulSurvivor3989 Stevie's very good and all, but Jimi Hendrix is Jimi Hendrix and he'll always be the best.

  • @SoulSurvivor3989 no no no, pally... jimi created, stevie MASTERED IT and a few shots of bourbon PERFECTS IT!!!.

  • Fuckin irene!

  • SOMEBODY IS GUITARIST ,SOMEBODY IS VIRTUOSO GITARIST AND SOMEBODY IS **STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN*

  • im afraid this is better than jimi

  • @97vanhalen different time, different technology, does impede alot on the guitar sounds.... but hey man, as far as music goes, its all good n groovy

  • 14 personas no saben nada de lo impresionante q tocaba stevie

  • Ok so was there just 13 missclicks or are there really 13 people who had genuine dissatisfaction from this song???

  • He almost out-Hendrix's Hendrix. Almost.

    (waits for inevitable outrage...)

  • @DrSimian some parts here are better than hendrix

  • he can play this almost flawlessly. but still.. it's no jimi.

but hey, when there's no steak at home, go out for burgers!

  • @gee8908 Hahaha good comparison... I could go for steak or burgers (Or listen to Jimi's version or Stevie's) ANY time of the day. Fuck I cook burgers for breakfast some days before work.. heart attack central

  • oh my god people!!!!!

    hendrix = stevie ray vaughan

  • this song makes me feel like a badass mo fo

  • The preceding tune has been paid for by the New World Order.

  • N...W...O..

  • I remember my dad playing this for me as a little girl. Still fuckin' love it.

  • Hes georgous,from me!!

  • Really a shame he is not with us... most people don't posses the soul he has in his thumb, let alone hand.

  • Eric Clapton killed SRV!!

  • No joke, jimmy Hendrix never was S H I T, & you know it.

  • OH MY GOD.....it's an amazing version.....4EVER Stevie Ray Vaughan.....

  • NEEDS DOWNLOAD BUTTON!

  • Oh yeah he was the one that thought he could play the guitar.....lmao....

  • Who the f u c k is Jimmy Hendrix?

  • @09gdavis I seriously hope you are just fu c k i n g around...? if not, you gotta be one of the biggest idiots on the face of this planet...

  • SRV learned to play by ear

  • ....best version ive heard!! love it!!

  • If I could play this Marine Corps Officer Candidate School. I would.

  • When im hovering in a Black Hawk over some fuck butt country in the next war with my boots hanging over the side this is what ill be listenin to. man this song is soooo bad ass Thank you Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix

  • this video is private, what it means??

  • @toskhi means the video is private lawl. herp

  • I chop it down with the edge of my hand...

  • FUCKING IRENE. HUA

  • STEVIE RAY VAUGHN nuff said!

  • @MyDraco19 If you would've succeeded in spelling it correctly, yes.

  • Hendrix made this song first right?

  • @RetardedxVideo yeah, I think it's the best cover version

  • Great master-song!!!!!

  • That was..... wow..

  • lov this song

  • You are right HardyBoyFan101 - I don't know you but anyone who is grown and a Hardy Boy Fan is an idiot in my book

  • @needfulth1ngs I'm not a fan of that anymore. I stopped watching WWE when I was about 14. These days I listen to music, and I actaully no what to say and what not to say. So you just shut up and enjoy the music. And if somebody likes something that you don't. Boo hoo.

  • man 1 : is that stevie ray vaughan? man 2: nope thats STEAMY ray vaughan, he just shits his britches

  • @berkleypuff35 damn that good shit right, be a comedian XD

  • HardyBoyFan101 you, sir, are an idiot

  • @needfulth1ngs What makes me an idiot? Just because I said "it's a song, not the holy grail"? Tell me what makes me an idiot. Do you know me personally? The only thing you know about me is my Youtube username.

  • FUCKING IRENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dragonzord18 I SAY AGAIN-IRENE

  • @dragonzord18 Hooah!

  • Great sound quality. Saw SRV back in '88. 5th row, promply went to the first. One of the best concerts i ever had the honor of attending. Really cool dude and what a performer. He really rocked the house. Rest in peace brother. Catch you in the next World. Save a spot for me.

  • stevie ray speaks to my soul. fuck helicopters.

  • all i got to say is STEVIE RAY BABY!!!!

  • I heard it on black hawk down first .. you gotta admit . absolutely perfect song for that scene

  • Should I feel wrong for liking this more than the Hendrix version? :/

  • "What's wrong?"

"Nothin'...he's just never done that before..."

  • When this song drops....You know you walk like a boss

  • @dave706 if you got the song off of the CD The essential SRV and DT, isn't the song almost 12 minutes long?

  • -Ireeeeeennnnnee!

    -Fucking Irene!

  • i would totally play this from my chopper if i were a pilot for the army

  • fucking IRENE!!

  • TIME TO GET SOME SKINNIES!

  • Chop it down with edge of my hand!!!! Long live the blues and long live Stevie.

  • Goodnight Stevie and thank you

  • Hendrix didn't write voodoo child if I remember correctly

  • @Music8734 he did

  • @Music8734 Actually it was written by Hendrix. Stevie Ray Vaughan said that he did this as a tribute to Hendrix.

  • @Music8734 Actually he did.

  • @Music8734 Yeah this is Hendrix's song. But its ok because they're both Guitar Gods.

  • the problem with stevie ray vuagn is that he plays too clean. he's got no attitude in his guitar. he copies everyone of jimmie's notes perfectectly, but u can hear there is no soul. he needs to be sloppy and just play the song.

  • @MLP270SS He is dead. He cannot improve get worse or anything else so why suggest an improvement. Watch a live performance then tell me he has no soul. He was as good if not better than JH. Saw them both. Jh did it first but that doesn't mean he was the best. lots of times JH couldn't get the feedback under control so he winged it,recovery does't make him better.

  • @benivere

Disagree: out-of-control feedback was part of Jimi's excitement. I really dig Texas blues and Stevie, but I have to say this sounds kind of smooth ... Hendrix-lite.

  • @benivere i dont realy care that he copies hendrix. i actually heard hendrix's version after stevies and i liked hendrix's a lot better. u cant even compare the 2. when u watch black hawk down, right away your like, o man! why did they use the crappy one. people tell me to watch the live performances and i do. because i wanna be blown away. and i never am. he gets way to much credit from his fans and thats the only people he gets credit from

  • @MLP270SS I'm a huge Hendrix fan, but this version is better in my opinion.

  • @FlaxForFlux hell ya

  • @MLP270SS EXACTLY! -- his clean smoothness is great on a swinging Texas blues, but this voodoo chile got milk teeth.

  • @Drblooter99 yeah man, this guy cant be the blues. hes way to clean and tidy with his playing. he needed to be more loose or something

  • @MLP270SS ok you talk alot of smack..... lets see if you can back it up....why dont you post a video of you playing voodoo child and will see if you are any better

  • I'm into Stevie...

  • im surprised theres no video where someone combines Hendrix's version and SRV's version. i dont mean at the same time but one playing after the other. probably would be hard to do tho

  • @MajorLeaguelnfidel You can, if you buy the "Couldn't stand the weather" version you don't have to buy the whole album.

  • is this hulk hogan's NWO theme song? it sounds like it

  • @sportsfan9217 Hogan used Hendrix's version. but for me the only song that is forever linked to Hogan is Real American by Rick Derringer

  • If yall have a problem with this song then youre mentally fucked up, all yall jackasses think that black hawk down made this song good. Well it didn't, people have been listening to this song since it was produced and they always will, SRV is one the best guitarists ever and should be respected, not have bad comments about his song.

  • @MajorLeaguelnfidel You can.

  • When you lift off in a chopper like Black Hawk down, ya gotta have this song playing in the background, ya just gotta!

  • @loneotaku yeah, they play this shit in NACCS when you graduate, then Martha Stewart gives you head while taking a shit

  • less than 10 people got lost while navigating Justa Dweebers page and wound up here... nice!

  • RIP SRV

  • good luck boys, no one gets left behind.

  • I hate to say this. But you smoked the Legend. The Man. Hendrix. if he got smoked, he got smoked......... ; ;

  • All units, Irene. I say again, IRENE.

  • @outlaw21actual - hurricane made BHD and voodoo chile very popular again :D

  • @outlaw21actual fuck off

  • Comment removed

  • @outlaw21actual Fucking Irene !

  • 3:30

  • I wonder if Jimi could play like this

  • GETS ME OFF!!!! YEHHH!

  • If only Hollywood Hulk Hogan used this version instead of the original Jimi Hendrix version as his entrance theme from Mid-2002 to Late-2002...

  • If only Hulk Hogan used this version instead of the original Jimi Hendrix version as his entrance theme from Mid-2002 to Late-2002...

  • Imagine Jimi and Stevie just jamming for about 8 hours. MAN!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the soundtrack of the life.

  • GREAT !

  • Yea, I didn't hear about this version of the song until Blackhawk Down. Big deal, I'm glad it was featured in the movie, now I'm aware of it's awesome. Who cares where people first heard it, it's great music either way!

  • Hey jerkoffs, who gives a shit if somebody didn't knew this song or Stevie Ray before Black Hawk Down. It's a song, not the Holy Grail.

  • @HardyBoyFan101 You're my hero dude.

  • @11tiptdm Thanks, I guess. lol

  • @HardyBoyFan101 It's about the comment above mine, Holy Grail and whatnot haha

  • @11tiptdm I hate it when people think they're cool by knowing songs before they know they're in a movie/show. Music doesn't make people look cool. Music is for entertainment, not to start internet wars on so called "not true fans" and other genres.

  • @HardyBoyFan101 Oh, oh no. It's definitely the Holy Grail. Listen again.

  • @CowabungaChrist I've listened to it a dozen times. All it is is a song.

  • @HardyBoyFan101 I have never seen Black Hawk Down, but I have known about SRV for a long, long time. My Uncle plays guitar very good, and he listens to SRV, Rush, and many more. I grew up around a lot of good music, none of that radio rap bullshit.

  • @KyoMao Yeah. I like some rap. But I only like 80s to mid-90s rap. New rap is just horrible to me.

  • @HardyBoyFan101 RIght ON!!!!!

  • Every time I hear this I wonder what would today's music be like if him and Jimi Hendrix were still alive

  • RIP bro.

  • Captain Steele in blackhawk down was actually my brigade commander when I was in the 101st Airborne. Pretty nutty!

  • Its still quite amazing that Black Hawk Down came out in 2001 and people are just now finding this song through it now!

  • @MrMaljsamuel no, it amazing that Jimi FUCKIN Hendrix came out in November 27, 1942 and people are just not finding this through a movie made 60 years later :(

  • Started out listening to this with laptop speakers, and I immediately had to pause to go get the headphones out. Such quality! Don't listen to this on shitty speakers unless you have no choice!

  • I like the live version better lol

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan brought people here!!!!!

  • IRENE!

  • @nightdemonproduction aaah i just love how no matter where you go there is always a contradiction to a perfectly good natured comment. I dont need to be educated about feeling, thank you very much, i have plenty of it.

  • @mrzulu9 prove it. Jimi called it "chile" because it is how he pronounced it and the "slight return" is so it isnt confused with the figteen minute jam

  • When I was in college thier was a chick I liked who always wore black. I asked her why. She turned to me looked in my eyes and said she was still mourning SRV. She became my first wife.

  • @MrToby5115 Best story EVER.

  • irene can go fuck herself because this song is just pure... i dont even know, i just have to go change my pants...

  • God is ugly.

  • I was just forced to listen to a lot of 1990s grunge crap (long story). I came running back for this because I needed some REAL music!

  • I hate to add this but if there were ever to be a tribute movie of Steve made that kid from "Live free or Die Hard" looks amazingly like Stevie ! Justine Long ! Just throwing the idea out there !

  • Actually in all reality, this song has been around for much longer than Hendrix and Stevie. Jimi took it and made it his own, hence the (slight return) and the change from "voodoo Child" to "Voodoo Chile"

  • who wrote this 1st, jimi hendrix or stevie?x

  • @thepurplepages This is a Jimi Hendrix song.

  • @RebelThoughts

taa;).... i love both versions of the song!x

  • I couldn't find any covers for this (probably because nobody can keep up with Ol' Stevie!).

  • RIP - Stevie

You had it going on brother just when you fianlly had your life on track Whiff its gone - you left us these gems - ThankYou

  • AHHHHHHHHH IM FUCKING JIZZZINNG

    NA

    DFLA,SDL;G ['ASNG'ANG

    Ase:mg A

    D K;ANDFS gadfml:.......lord have mercy

  • I didn't even know this song was on black hawk down and I've watched it a bunch. AMAZING SONG though.

  • I saw this guy in Pori Jazz Festival, Finland, in late 80s. He was a wizard with that guitar, really something else...

  • imagine stevie jamming with jimi... it'd be like the hadron collider combined with chernoble

  • We can agree that both left us WAY too early :(

  • I discovered this on BHD. That movie had such an awesome soundtrack! Now i use this song for the intro for all of my ArmA 2 missions (not all of it, 60 seconds or so)

  • FUCKING IRENE!!!!!!!!

  • @playero1555 no one gets left behind!

  • i love it all man. if its real and stevie was real. reality.. tha most important thing

  • Road trips with dad.

  • @bigdave706 - thanks for a great upload the sound is pure on my comp and well just kicking back and loving this longer version - beautiful cut and upload - thanks

  • Stevie is THE KING of the BLUES 'nuff said. When he died so did the blues revolution nobody has done anything to relight the fire.

  • Thumbs up if you just learned that this had any connection to Black Hawk Down.....

  • @roycedavies I've never seen Black Hawk Down, so this is news to me! :P

  • Just love the music! feel the beat and the rifts! i love all music and i do mean all music! for those of us who cant play or sing we can listen and feel! music lifts the soul!

  • You shouldn't thumb this up, unless you feel like it; You see, I don't give a damn about who came here from Black Hawk, pure knowledge or whatever. It's the feeling in this song that move us: The movie fans, older SRV fans and anyother who feels like it, we're all people of good taste; Let's just hear it, 'kay?

  • thumbs up if you really don't care where people heard it

  • This song is called Voodoo Chile (Slight return). The song Voodoo Child is a different Hendrix song. A slower blues. :)

  • @ritchiepeyton Actually this song is called Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and Voodoo Chile is a slower blues song that was recorded as a studio jam with additional musicians.

  • thumbs up if black hawk down brought u here

  • I like Jimi too, but can't compare a mere mortal to SRV. Love this guy!

  • @TheVigilanteMan HAHA be serious, why would a god cover a mortals music!!!!

  • The difference between Stevie and Jimi is that Stevie defined and articulated Jimi's songs to make them understandable to the ear. Jimi would go off on these tangents with his guitar where as Stevie took these notes and produced a critiqued art with them.
