  • I like watching accipiters doing their thing and smokin' on ducks, pheasant and rabbits but the music's gotta go! All in all though, good footage. I've been hawking for a good many years so I know the exhilaration first hand of watching a bird motor up on something, closing the gap and then putting the snatch on it. I noticed this video was posted in '07. Are you still hawking and where are you located? At any rate, good vid.

  • Hi Aaron, you have done a realy good work with your gos ,thats falconry we like congratulations!

  • decent attempt. but not sure we needed to see the Gos fail 3 times at the start ;p also, could the music be any more unsuitable? haaaaaaaaaaa

  • I don't know much about hawking but shouldn't you get farther away from buildings and such? Not trying to be rude but it feels a little irresponsible, I'm only thinking of the hawk and its safety. c:

  • @twitchy if a hawk cant maneouvere out the way of a building its blind, how do you think it would fly between trees in the wild ? silly :p

  • @CrustyLoveLips Well I mean I don't expect it to fly into a building, lol, I just worry something industrial might get in the way of the chase. :c I guess I would personally take mine out into the fields away from people and buildings. ><

  • @twitchy well, youve got a point, there are stories of birds being blown out of control into power lines etc, but generally, theyre gonna be ok, i used to fly falcons on a land fill site as part of a pest control program to keep ths seagulls away, there were wagons coming and going all day long and in 6 months i didnt have so much as a near miss, plus it was right on the coast so we had some very windy days.

  • what type of hawk was the second one.the black one.

  • @10010605

    All various ages of goshawks.

  • what tipe of hawk is that?

  • hILIROUS AT 1:40 HOW EASLIY HE COULD GET THE SHOT OF THE DUCKS IN THE POND NO PROB ...AS LONG AS HE DOESNT HAVE THAT GOS ON HIS FIST!!!!.....THEM LIL M-FERS ARE PRETTY HIP TO WHATS ,WHATS LMAO!

  • nice clear quality footage. cheers

  • Are you flying a finnish gos or a North american one ?what is weight in flying condition ?

  • watching a wild hawk catch its prey is an awesome sight , but not if its influenced by man! its a bloodsport ! end of!

  • @quickshooter100 it not a bloodsport at all so shut the fuck up!!!!!

  • @mikestock93 hey man, your obv a troubled soul .

  • its called falconry!.. an art that has been around since the begining of time .. the bird is wild.. it just chooses to hunt along since a falconer its the more natural way other then using a gun... if you dont like it .. dont watch the vids simple as that .. but anyways .. congrats on the catches dudes.. keep it up

  • hawks stay with the austringer because it knows its chances of survival are much higher. Mortality rate in wild- 80%, in captivity- 2%. It stays because it knows it gets food and will live. Think before you say.

  • I am trying I got a bunch of video to edit, mostly jack rabbit hawking, some longwinging... some rabbit hawking, but editing takes along time and I like having more fun actually doing it... let you know when I get something up ;)

  • mugging there not very sporting flights with a gos lad come o a fit bird will fly them down in a instant make your birds fit and enjoy the real sport

  • Unfortunately it is a lot easier to setup the video camera on the flights that you can see from the road and have a good angle to get it on the video. The number of flights you need to get one on video is pretty high. unfortunately it is simply easier to get a decent film on the ones that are guaranteed. The perfect flights never get on film.... I will try to get more of those on film as I keep hunting. You need a fair collection of flights that are successful when the video camera is rolling.

  • These are some footage of some birds of a young female gos, just being entered, and a couple flights I actually had on film with 2 year old goshawks. These fights are not the best! Looking back, I can see when the gos is serious and when it is slacking off. But this is just a collection of some flights on a couple of days when we had a video camera rolling. I was not claiming this was the pinnacle of my hawking... just a glimpse of some flights... I guess I should only put the best on here... ;)

  • well your right there mate i bet you get millions of sporting flights with your bird try and get a new video on here

  • She a "Recipe" Imprint?

  • mostly ;)

  • are there any limits on where you can hawk?

  • Nice, I think I saw you recall her to the fist. Is that all you did different? An did it cause an screaming problems?

  • never mind about the EWA thing I noticed after I got a size referance that they are to big for that.

    Nice Vid..

  • I can tell you right now why your gos didnt get those ducks!

The music has fried its brain.

    J/K.

Seems like that bird is a eyas ya?

Nice looken gos where you get it? EWA?

  • They are eyass Finnish goshawks, bred by falconer/Friend Dan Pike.

  • ahh yes I know Danny. Keep up the good work.

  • Looks like the Redtail needed the Goshawk to come in and close the deal!!!

Is that a passage GOS in the 2nd clip and a passage RT in the first part?

  • There is no Redtailed hawk in this video. In the first part they fly with an juvenile Goshawk. Goshawks are changing colors after a year.

  • is that in oregon?

  • nope

  • hey aaron if you knew this would REALLY help out but do you have any clue where places for falconry are in iowa? please write back =)

  • lol, no I do not, sorry

  • nice birds! im liking the vids aaron

  • Yes the hawks get to eat the duck. I need to find a good recipie and I may roast a few of them this year. I dont stop them. They chase as long as they want then I go get them and call them to the fist or the lure.

  • How long does it take to train a goshawk?

  • a month or two for most of it (field control, beginning hunting), depends on if is imprinted, chamber/ WC etc... there is a lot of ongoing training and learning going on, for several years. I look at every day as a way to either get better at one aspect or worse, it depends on what you focus on. If you focus too much on one aspect the others tend to be forgotten... so it is good to give a reminder lesson every now and again so you don't have to start over... not sure if that made sense... ;)

  • so you let the hawks get the kill? how do you get them to stop chasing after thay get to far?

  • Is that snow, rain, or what? I can't tell. I've only been in snow a few times in my life - I'm from Southeast Texas.

  • Snowing Urban hawking... yum

  • Urban? How urban? What city is it?

  • Mainly Kent and Auburn (near Tacoma,Washington)

  • great video and music. looks like a full day of fun.

  • nice..GREAT vid should i say :)

  • yep

  • at 4:46 is that the same place you got that goose? man I wnat to do this more and more with every video I watch of yours. It is obvious you can go where other hunters with guns can't
