its I4. as in in-line. the cylinders are all in one row, and on v-engines, starting with 6 cylinders, they're arranged with 3 cylinders on 2 rows on either side.
Its a German Ford 60 degree v4, 2 cylinders on each side. Compared to an I4 this engine is very compact. It was used in a few SAAB cars, a few European ford models and some industrial applications.
Oh, thats awesome, i never knew that. Back when we had our saab (1985-2005) it had an 8 valve I4 but it blew up D:
