  • I always lose count, too.. doesn't help

  • I must be slow...I have to start again, sigh. I have an F hook, don't know the measurements nor ply of my yarn...using f, will it come out smaller?

  • @ladlaw121 Yes a little bit

  • I came across this video earlier this week and have made three beanies. I have a question though. All of my beanies have a seem where I connect the rows but I don't see that seem in your tutorial. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much.

  • @swtlinhha I found that it helps to place a stitch marker in the top of the chain 3, then you will know exactly where to slip stitch at the end of each row. Also, every hat that is joined in the round will have a slight seam. Some are more noticeable than others.

  • uau! I am brazilian and I'm learning crochet on the internet. You are the great one teacher! I just subscribe your channnel. Congratulations and thank you for your classes.

  • Hi Clare! This is super fantastic tutorial! So easy to follow and extremely helpful. Thanks a bunch for all you do:)

  • is there a video on how to make a basic crown for a baby?

  • @snoopylaydee When making a beanie/hat you need to keep increasing until the circumference/outside edge measurement is1 inch smaller than the head that you are making it for (making a bit smaller allows for stretch) So for example if the head measurement is 21 inches you need to increase until the circumference/outside edge measurement is 20 inches. When you have the desired measurement you STOP increasing and continue on with 1 stitch in each stitch

  • Fab tutorial, thanks so much. You made a seemingly complex pattern easy!

  • hello you are wonderful, how can I print this pattern you are working from? ty I have been crochetting for many yrs, and I am still learning and perfecting my work. God Bless you forever, Gale

  • @luv2earnmoney the wriotten pattern is on someones elses blog, you can copy and paste it into microsoft word

  • Thank you so much. I thought it would be hard to learn to crochet since it is my first time doing this. I have learned quite a lot from you and have picked up fast doing this. Once again thank you and keep up the great work that you.

  • I just learned how to do a granny square, thanks :) This was super helpful bytheway. I was trying to make a hat before without a pattern and realized I was starting off my increase rounds wrong.

  • Thanks so much for this Claire you make reading a pattern so much easier to understand and you explain everything brilliantly.... especially when your a beginner like me....you are definately the Crochet Angel...thank you ..thank you x

  • @18marcie18 thank you :)

  • Love all your videos and how clear you are with all your instructions!! Am a very happy subscriber!!

    Thank you!

  • @modgurl69 thanks for subing :)

  • you were going to fast for me so i cant realy do it :*( but its pretty

  • I'm trying to follow along just as your saying but I'm stuck at the 1st set of instructions. When I do the 11 dc into the 1st stitch it looks nothing like how yours did. There's a big space in the center. What could I be doing wrong?

  • @mslojo2 Try doing 1 or 2 less chains and then join to make the center hole smaller :) Let me know if you get stuck :)

Oh or you could use a magic ring :)

  • Thanks for explaining every step of the way! I've been crocheting for 10 years now, and just figured out Ive been joining my stitches wrong. Haha :)

  • @bobwilson123 never mind I just found it. Right in my face.

  • @bobwilson123 I really lke this hat pattern can you tell me where you got it.

  • @bobwilson123 Thank-you very much! It helps a lot

  • @pinkleopard28 YAY !

  • If I use a size H / 5mm hook and only do 3 rows of increase, would it come out the same size as the crowns you did ( the small adult or medium- either size is fine)? My stitches are a little loose or big.

  • @pinkleopard28 I am not sure but the the circumference of the crown is 55cm . does this help you ?

  • I loved this! Thank you so much :) I've been crochetting a bit differently and wanted to learn a different method. This was easier than I thought, and the directions are easy enough to comprehend. I learned how to READ crochet instructions (I could never make sense of them!) Thanks again!

  • Wow, I love this explanation it helped a great deal on how to start the crown of a hat, thank you.

  • you go so fast i cannot understand what your doing

  • Thank you very VERY much! I'm always starting mine from the bottom and go up, and doing the last few rows before closing the hat on the top is a royal pain the butt. LOL! I'm using your method from now on ;)

  • Another great video Clare! Thanks for explaining so thoroughly. :)

  • Thank you for reading the written instructions as you went along. It helped me learn how to read a pattern! Love your tutorials!!!

  • Thank you!...this so far has been the most helpful tutorial for me :)

I also learn how to read the instructions :)

    Stay blessed!

  • @mzswn Your welcome, thanks for watching

  • Thank you! I am ready to start my first hat and have one question. Where the pattern says "You are now ready to work with out increasing. Work 1 dc in each st around, sl st to join in top of ch3."

Do you start all new rows with the ch3 or just jump right in with the dc in each st around? Hopefully this is my first of many projects.

  • @samanovasm Yes you start each row with the chain 3 ...dc around the row and then slip stich to the chain 2 :)

  • Absolutely love the vid, great that you read us through the pattern as you crochet. I've been trying to find classes on crochet without any luck. My biggest problem is, I can't read patterns.....problem now solved. THANK YOU :oD

  • @Valrtin You are most welcome !

  • thanks 4 explaining the paperwork it made it a lot easier to understand as u went along with it. :)

  • You are amazeing!!.you are soo different with us =]] YOu read and do the crochet pattern at the SAME time =]] that helps a lot cause i sometimes get confused on were to put my next stiches =] THANK you soo much..keep up the tutorial..Hay? can you do a tutorial on all size OVALS like starting with the smallest to the largest? No one never understands how to do OVALS and the increases drive me bannanas!!..LOLOL..Thanks

    CATS-PURRFECT

  • @CatsPurrfect Hi I have never made a oval . ill have to do some research and see how they are made :)

  • @bobwilson123 I know it will come easy to you..Thanks for takeing a secound to reply back to me girl...It means a lot to me..HUGZZZ...MEOW!!!

    CATS-PURRFECT

  • @CatsPurrfect Your most welcome :)

  • Wow. You have no idea how greatful I am that i found your video.

I barely know how to crochet, (i had a friend briefly teach me once) and i wanted to make a beanie. And EVERY video i found was very unhelpful. It was either: advanced "crochet-ers" going to fast and not explaining how they did something, OR "crochet-ers" making all these explainations with their hands and project out of the camera's view.

So really, Thank You! This was EXTREMELY helpful for me! :D

  • @AsFarAsTheEyeCanSee You are most welcome ! I am so glad that you found me :)

  • two syllables that make a word : Awe-some

  • @LiNaIsHeReToDaY A reply with 2 words... thank you !

  • I love this pattern! :)

  • I'm following your directions from Florida & I find your directions extremely easy!!! Thank you so much! I'm currently making my son a winter beanie! :)

  • Well, I have viewed a LOT of crochet tutorials, and this is by far the best. It is so helpful that you are following and teaching how to read a pattern. Huge advantage! (My beanie crown is turning out great so far!)

    Thanks!

  • ??im pretty sure i did verything right i double counted everything and my hate isnt curling up its getting floppy and wiggly like.. it doesnt lay flat its kinda floppy? if that makes sense..can anyone help or know why or what i did??

  • @SarahLynnB9 Hi, I would say that your stitches are loose due to a larger hook..Start again and try to drop down 2 sizes and see what happerns :) Let me know if it doesnt =)

  • Where can I print out this pattern at?

  • @tracync26 There is a link in the description box of the video :)

  • why im not ended with an increase??grrrr im upset now!!! i got all my stitches, not ending right :-(

  • @anandazen30 DId you email me?

  • Is there an easy way to make a hat for certain age groups (babies, toddler, child, adult?) For example in the beginning of the hat when you doing your rounds & increases is there a measurement for each age group? Like, 5in round is baby, 7in round toddler, and so on? I want to make beanies and it would be helpful to have a standard measurement. Thank you so much, I love your videos that are so easy to follow. YOU taught me how to crochet! :)

  • @crochetlearner1 Hi there, awesome username BTW. No there isnt and i wish there was, because i use different thickness of yarn it makes it harder to do :( There is a website called bevs country cottage that will gove you head measurements but that all i use for sizes. Sorry i couldnt be anymore help and I am so happy that i taught you to crochet !!

  • @bobwilson123 Thanks so much for responding so fast, and for the bevs country cottage reference. I'm in the middle of making some fingerless gloves, then I'll get back to the beanies. Again, thanks so much for teaching me, your videos are the best! I'm also a fan on facebook and can't wait to see the Halloween tutorial you said was coming! Yay! :)

  • @crochetlearner1 Dont for get to post a [ic of all your crochet goodnedd :) I have uploaded the halloween cobweb video :)

  • It seems so simple, but it's very easy to mess it up when your starting out. You broke it down beautifully. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

  • @IvoryKohl Thankyou for watching my video. I agree that it is easy to mess it up, I even do it to if im not paying attention :O)

  • Very clear instructions. Do you have measurements for making a baby or child beanie?

  • @katied879 I sent you a message :)

  • Very clear for a learner like me, thank you!

  • @brwnbutterfly So glad that you liked the video :)

  • Love your tutorials, do you think in future you could teach that hat from Cats-Rocken-Crochet, its the one with the skull design in hat, my daughter loves this look and would love to make her one...

  • i'm sure you've heard this before but you have beautiful hands and nails ^_^

    love your videos
