i'm sorry, and maybe this is just me, but that grace chick always just seems to get in the way no matter what i have seen her in. she kinda ruins most of the songs i've seen her cover by going way over the top. she needs to learn to sit back and pick her spots every once in a while. she absolutely butchered cortez the killer with joe satriani, it was a train wreck. If you wanna hear a woman with plenty of soul and presence and with an amazing voice i'd suggest susan tedeschi or gillian welch.
Love how they have Grace sing the "Lilybelle your hair is golden-brown" section the first time thru, then she and Warren sing it together the second time. Works perfectly! Overall very powerful--the solos aren't quite up to Neil's original, but still very good!
@joethepainter90 Grace is from Vermont. She has her own excellent band. she plays the flying V guitar, just like Albert King, and she rips up a keyboard. Plus she makes the knot in my necktie hard.
You don't know know the power leaving the stage. I took my daughter to see them at Red Rocks, and the initial comment from her was this is huge! That is, the sound coming form the stage. This band is the best you can ever imagine coming to your town. Go see them. Or, shut the F*** Up!

Yeah this is nothing special to me and I've spent a few years in the Bay area so I get all the connections and whatnot and grace potter is just goofin' it up more for me...I don't think haynes pushes his talent enough anymore...just an opinion...
I was looking forward to catching Mule at Bonnaroo but they played a bunch of cover, kind of turned me off. Is this typical? I mean a couple cool, but in an hour and a half set, they played at least 5
yes and no, they have a shitload of original music, the covers are good I agree w/ you if it is not your style. What a great band to catch always was and always will be.
You'd have to be a true fan to understand this. In the beginning, all GM had were the songs he wrote for the Allman Brothers. He's a blues child. Blues artists covered songs, a lot. He was reaching to a wide range of people. I was at this show. I was next to a dozen people who freaked when he went from Helter Skelter to Creep (getting chill bumps as I type). He has plenty of songs he can pull from, but he loves to cover songs. He loves special guests. You would just have to be there.
Saw the Mule on their own in Cologne in November ,Would pay three times as much to see them Tomorrow. One of the best shows I've seen (and I see at least 10 a year)
yeah, whatever... Neil is the man. this warren sounds like he's trying to follow the Godfather if Soul. that's a hard act too, seems like he might need his own gig
mcwhatever your name is dig dep Warren Haynes is not oly an awsome guitar player and singer he is the biggest part of the mule.. he obviously loves neil young , but due young isnt in the same shadow of warren
Neil's song. How dare anyone even suggest otherwise! Neil is a one off, true original, with one of the best back catalogues of any artist anywhere, right from Buffallo Springfield days.

One of the greatest versions of this song they did was at Allen Woody's last show before he died. It's beautiful.

Grace Potter is so slutty and cheesy I can't deal with it. How hard is it to look like a heavy metal groupie and shake a wig? Weak.

who's warren.? i'm pretty sure that Neil Young wrote this song, along with a huge collection of other beautifully written material.

Warren Waynes is the hardest working man in showbiz, he plays with *everyone*. He must be on the road 300+ days a year.

I can vouch for that. I play with David Allan Coe....our tour manager who is friends with Warren says he plays almost 6 days a week consistently.

I AGREE, he plays the shit out of everybodys songs, he aint trying to be neil, or the beatles, or jimi, he just plays thier music like it was his,

ok level with me: it's 1969 and janis joplin and duane allman are still alive, and neil young decides to write them a tune to play...
