wow i used to live in the sherman and denison area, i remember driving by this school. i always wanted to go in it. do the still have that building out side of sherman called "woodmans cirlce"??
Was this McDaniel Middle School in the mid 70s? I went to McDaniel Middle School for only 1 yr & for the life of me I can't remember if this was that school. Help my memory???
If my research memory serves me correct, this building was a high school until either the 1950s or 1960s, then it became McDaniel Middle School, closing its doors in 1986.
well, really it closed for a reason, and if theres a lack of students, who the heck would wanna spend time and money to restore it if it'll get no use?
i still can't believe they tor it down! i use to live in denison about 2 and a half years ago and it's still teh best city i know, i miss everyone there!!! it's nice to see the old school! =D
i started a petition at bmc daniel middle school when they said they were going to destroy it. i only got 148 signatures, and i never got to turn it in, but even if i did, nobody wouldve done anything else to prevent them from demolishing it. it was actually a NATIONAL landmark. it was the first school in texas to have free public education. and billy joel royal even filmed his music video "time slips away" there. its a true shame they had to tear it down.
you know if you dont want it around you didnt have to look at it you probabaly dont live here so get over it you got your wish its down now all people have to remember it by is a clock tower and a feild
When I went there it was Denison Junior High. The new high school had been built way out on Mirick Ave. The football team was the Yanigans, what ever that was.
guess i had a good time. It's been about 50 years.
I remember I used to play on the grounds after school, back when I attended B. McDaniel Middle School. I know that this landmark is in shambles and that all attempts made to save it has failed. But, come on, this HS is one of Denison's trademarks! To tear it down is to tear out the heart of Denison, Texas!
Don't you have places that bring up great memories for you? Not only does this building do that for me and many others, it was a historical site. You're callous.
what year was it built?

Whoever got that boat that was parked out behind the building?

It sure doesn't look like that anymore. The clock tower is saved, but just sitting there for sale. It is more of an eyesore now.
