Absolute bullshit fucking war... No Canadian should have ever died in those damned deserts. Let the americans clean their own damn mess. Rest in peace heroes! I travel the stretch from Trenton Air Base to Toronto at least once a week and think of you guys always!
@jethrodassam We honestly don't need the Americans for help in a war. Why? Because we don't need to go to war for oil. We have tons of oil right here in our own country. But thanks anyway. Canada, the useless country who cannot defend itself. That's why the Americans constantly call for our assistance... Gulf, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, etc... Your 'people' might think of us as useless but your military and government do not underestimate our ability's in combat.
I am the writer of the poem in this video. I was asked by a gentleman, if he had my permission to put a video along with the poem, to add it to the list of writes for our Canadian Heroes. I said yes and I am truly honoured that I did. Thank you Ole Trout. I visit YouTube, everytime I get the chance, so I can look at this video and read my poem. :o)
@iwonttell19888 Thank you for clarifing so many people dont get that average civillians dont know the whole story whats happening in Afganistan, Pakistan actually wants afganistan to remain unstable, for many reasons, i wont get into here, but the ppoint is our troops are there to help protect a nation and its people from the taliban and others who use them and kill their people.
the least the can. govt could do was donate a section of highway to the fallen. we are peacekeepers everyone seemed to have forgotten that.....we dont fight wars. we make them stop...
Our biggest threat is not some bearded guy hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan... they`re sitting in Ottawa spending money with reckless abandon. They`re trying to convince young people to be their political goons. Harper said we`d be outta there by 2011... he lied. He said a Canadian doesn`t quit til the job`s done ( this from a guy who shut down parliament to save his political ass). Young people, don`t get sucked into this bullshit. This war is totally unecessary
Every time I drive on the Highway of Heroes I feel as if I don't deserve to be on it I would like nothing more then to see all the Canadian Forces men and women come home safe but at the same time I wouldn't want the job to be left half done either if I could I would be right there fighting next to the men and women of our Forces
If you don't want to stand with them feel free to stand in front of them
I am an American soldier currently living in south florida, where many of you canadian snow birds come to winter, and every time I see one they show nothing but admiration and respect. Regardless of the politics, I have had nothing but kind words said to me from our friends to the north. I know many good Canadians have fallen standing beside us in Afghanistan and ignorant Americans aside we are all very grateful for their sacrifice and service. God bless and come home safe
@RickE1poker We arent there to "help Americans" we're there to help the people of Afghanistan. This isn't an American war. There are many more countries there making a difference.
Despite what you believe is right or wrong about this war, Soldiers are sent over there to fight. Support them anyways. You are supporting brave people, whether or not you think what they are doing is right. They still have to fight and do their job.

Canada needs an identity. The singer in the video has a distinct American twang . The U.S. and British Colonialists have been mettteling in the affairs of other nations for hundreds of years. Now they`re facing the backlash. The British were in Afganistan well over a hundred years ago.... their efforts were in vain. The Afganis are NO THREAT to us at all. Yes they grow poppies for herion, but we produce the most deadly drug of all ( alcohol. Let them solve their own problems like we do.
We are in Afghanistan because out biggest ally was attacked, and the Taliban choose to house the people that orchestrated said attack. This is a NATO mission, mandated by the UN in response to said attack. Do you really think China or Russia wouldn't have vetoed the kind of war you represented in your comments? This is NOT Iraq, the taliban recieved much warning that Al Queda needed to be surrendered. They choose this war, we choose to stand by our ally.

we`re in Afgahanistan because Bush says we should be . We have no mind of our own. Don`t believe me? Check out King Harper`s twaddle when he copied the Austraila`s speech to parliament March 18 2003. Stephen, ( leader of the opposition) stated word for word those of his Austrailian counterpart). He copied . This is serious when you want to commit your troops to a cause that will cost lives. ( This was the Iraq war ). Liberating a country without their permission will bite you hard every time
What "Highway of Heroes"? It's a raod from hell and for some a road to hell. There's nothing heroic about dying in war and especially not when one dies in vain. So many have already. Stop this insanity and bring them all home safely
I too wish every member of our Canadian Forces a safe return. I pay tribute to the fallen not the mission, the war or the politics that put them into this insanity--the bulk of which lies in Ottawa.
Sad, another fallen soldier was repatriated today at Trenton airforce base. In September I joined the 8th wing Trenton airforce concert band. Playing french horn. I'd like to see our new president make us proud and serve in Iraq or Afghanistan so he could really know what the troops are going through. We wont ever see that though because he isn't man enough to do what a real American does.
In the context of this show , created to honor our brave CANADIAN TROOPS, there is no need to be spouting your political views about Quote " our new president "
You say " he isn't man enough to do what a real American does." I know many REAL AMERICANS .They wouldn't use the comment section of a show dedicated to those who sacrificed all for your freedom of speech, to preach a redneck point of view.
lescallade-- is that a question? You r 17 yrs old. You live in a FREE COUNTRY. You have freedom of speech. Take some time to learn a bit of history and you will find that these great things you take for granted and enjoy did not accrue to you FREE. They came at great cost to thousands of brave men and women who put their lives on the line for the cause of FREEDOM. Your words " hero or just plain stupid " are an insult to all that is Canada.
buddy, i already have learned history. im 17 but im not stupid. i kno full well and appreciate what all the ppl did in the ww1 and 2. we are not fighting for freedom in the middle east cuz we already are free. we shouldnt even be over there. any soldier that dies get no sympathy from me. if theyre dum enough to join the army are just plain stupid.
So soldier who die to give freedom to others dont deserve your respect? Before you say its a false war let me say this. Afganastan was run by the taliban. They inspired fear and were a dictatorship. Girls couldnt go to school unfair trials ect. Now because of these soldiers the country is slowly improving. Its a democracy they actual have a real police and military force. Girls can go to school and be treated equally now and many more things. So these soldiers died so others may be happy.
of course france wouldnt because they are an ally silly lol. Most people with right minds would never attack a first world nation. But wether its something like fighting a war or providing peacekeepers were still getting our noses into everything. Its better to look after others than yourself. But hey thts just my personal opinion :P
"Didn't like or think is good"? I am guessing that few people enjoyed the 9.11 attacks. Why don't you and Taliban Jack go aid the insurgents by setting up an aid station in P-stan? Once the B52's find you you can let me know if you didn't like it or thought it was good.
there is an interesting movie i think you should watch..like seriously, its called zeitgeist. when you get a chance seriously watch...its a really good movie and its all true . seriously tho...
google:
zeitgeist the movie
FYI...the 911 attacts were supposedly targeted to the americans..not canadians.
Just watched it. Granted there are some anomalies, but , a couple of points....#1 26 Canadians died that day....#2... a GREAT deal of the audio was taken out of context. My opinion is that there is no western Gov't with balls to organize something like that. I do believe that certain western Gov'ts were apprised of the attack (through intelligence)(beforehand) and chose to ignore the threat as it would play into the neo-con agenda.
very true...but money runs the world. the 6 billion dollar insurance policy is very interesting. then again western governments are corrupt. and bush was in cahoots with everything.
Yet the question still remains..... the Canadian soldiers were sent in good faith( they did not choose to go, the Gov't sent them).... but you belittle their deaths. Why?
@lescallade I know you are ignorant & just trying to stir shit up so I probably shouldn't respond but I will. The target of the 9/11 attacks was America physically but was the whole western world symbolically as attacks on Spain and Britain followed. So to say the things you are saying are plain wrong. Besides although Canadian & American politics don't always mix it is like a relationship b/w brothers, there may be some resentment/disagreement but if you mess with one you mess with both
@armydoc8 Young man we Canadian's and American's live in the most beauitful part of the world and have some of the kindest folk anywhere. You make me proud to know your there if we need you. We Canadian's will alway's have your back.
Hmmm. You say "i kno full well and appreciate what all the ppl did in the ww1 and 2."
So this is how you show that you APPRECIATE what all the people did in WW 1 and WW 2 by saying that they were just PLAIN DUMB AND STUPID to join the Army and that "any soldier that dies get no sympathy from me". Go and read that history once again and through your immature and selfish eyes you may see that we were FREE then and everyone of our young men who died to give you this FREEDOM also VOLUNTEERED.
and its not " and insult to all that is canada" canada is not a war nation, if you know ur history so well u should know that we learned from the mistakes from past wars.
I know how other countries view canada i am mearly speaking from a historical point of view which we can be seen as either for we fought many wars is a short time but we also did alot of peace work to
You are correct Canada has drifted away from war but hell if we needed to fight hard like in ww1 i bet we could muster ourselves quite quickly eh? We dont fight wars as much and prefer to do peace keeping but if the need arouse i bet Canada could show the world even after so many yrs. of peace we are still storm troopers. But hey thts just my own personal opinion
I personally disagree, Canada is a Warring nation. Afghanistan is not a peacekeeping operation but rather a Counter Insurgency war. During the 90s our peacekeeping missions were active with battle, so still keeping us warring. The idea of Canada as peacekeepers is bullcrap, sure we popularized peacekeeping under Pearosn, but the focus of Canada has always been war. The present peacekeeping ... is war with a different name.
Just abrief overview of Canada @ war. World War 1and2, ColdWar Era:Korean War, Active in espionage, Vietnam war decalred 'neutral' but secretly supports Americans, allowing training on our land, and developed and produced chem. weapons that the USA used(Agent orange) during the war. The 'peacekeeping' of the 90s(war in disguise) and Afghanistan.
Personally i agree with that statement. But after WW2 Canada has done alot to try and create world peace (not always with peace keeping missions). Sure a good number of peace keeping missions have involved combat but a good number havent. Simply a peacekeepers presence helps to lower the regional conflicts most of the time. Technically skirmishes ect cant be labeled warring because no offical decleration of war was ever signed. Canada's population today is more for diplomacy and peace then war.
this is really good....thankyou for making this and sharing it with all of us....very well put together and such a wonderful tribute to our heroes....praying that all come home....soon
back from welcoming our Canadian brothers home, please just bring our soilders back home!! :( Bravest people alive or ever was including anyone who has sacraficed themsleves for whatever they were or are fighting for!!!! family, friends, COUNTRY, HOME, CANADA
There are a rare breed of people in this world who put commitment, dedication & sacrifice above every thing else in their lives and we owe them such a debt of gratitude.
If you are able to salute them as they come home for a final time please do so, it's such a simple way to honour them.
I go to the bridge which is adjacent to our home to witness the repatriation of our fallen soldiers. It is an experience like no other. I feel that those of us who live here are representing the rest of our country. Today is remembrance day 2008. Lest We Forget.
Very well done.Nothing is more respectable than a man or woman that serves our great country. Our soldiers are topnotch and second to none.God bless you all, past and present and their families.

They came at great cost to thousands of brave men and women who put their lives on the line for the cause of FREEDOM. Your words " hero or just plain stupid " are an insult to all that is Canada.
OleTrout 2 years ago
buddy, i already have learned history. im 17 but im not stupid. i kno full well and appreciate what all the ppl did in the ww1 and 2. we are not fighting for freedom in the middle east cuz we already are free. we shouldnt even be over there. any soldier that dies get no sympathy from me. if theyre dum enough to join the army are just plain stupid.

So these soldiers died so others may be happy.

its not our place to poke around in other countries business....if Canada did something France didn't like or think is good, they wouldn't invade us
lescallade 2 years ago
of course france wouldnt because they are an ally silly lol. Most people with right minds would never attack a first world nation. But wether its something like fighting a war or providing peacekeepers were still getting our noses into everything. Its better to look after others than yourself. But hey thts just my personal opinion :P
72Canadian72 2 years ago
"Didn't like or think is good"? I am guessing that few people enjoyed the 9.11 attacks. Why don't you and Taliban Jack go aid the insurgents by setting up an aid station in P-stan? Once the B52's find you you can let me know if you didn't like it or thought it was good.

lol ur just all over me eh??
there is an interesting movie i think you should watch..like seriously, its called zeitgeist. when you get a chance seriously watch...its a really good movie and its all true . seriously tho...
google:
zeitgeist the movie
FYI...the 911 attacts were supposedly targeted to the americans..not canadians.
lescallade 2 years ago
Just watched it. Granted there are some anomalies, but , a couple of points....#1 26 Canadians died that day....#2... a GREAT deal of the audio was taken out of context. My opinion is that there is no western Gov't with balls to organize something like that. I do believe that certain western Gov'ts were apprised of the attack (through intelligence)(beforehand) and chose to ignore the threat as it would play into the neo-con agenda.
cf80to01 2 years ago
very true...but money runs the world. the 6 billion dollar insurance policy is very interesting. then again western governments are corrupt. and bush was in cahoots with everything.
lescallade 2 years ago
Yet the question still remains..... the Canadian soldiers were sent in good faith( they did not choose to go, the Gov't sent them).... but you belittle their deaths. Why?
cf80to01 2 years ago

Go and read that history once again and through your immature and selfish eyes you may see that we were FREE then and everyone of our young men who died to give you this FREEDOM also VOLUNTEERED.

and its not " and insult to all that is canada" canada is not a war nation, if you know ur history so well u should know that we learned from the mistakes from past wars.
lescallade 2 years ago
Canadians have served in appox 10 wars since 1900. I dont know but we can be seen as a warring and peaceful nation at the same time.
72Canadian72 2 years ago
umm, no not really. u obviously dont see how other countries view canada
lescallade 2 years ago
I know how other countries view canada i am mearly speaking from a historical point of view which we can be seen as either for we fought many wars is a short time but we also did alot of peace work to
72Canadian72 2 years ago
exactly a historical point of view...war was canada in the past...not now.but yes i see what ur gettn at
lescallade 2 years ago
You are correct Canada has drifted away from war but hell if we needed to fight hard like in ww1 i bet we could muster ourselves quite quickly eh? We dont fight wars as much and prefer to do peace keeping but if the need arouse i bet Canada could show the world even after so many yrs. of peace we are still storm troopers. But hey thts just my own personal opinion
72Canadian72 2 years ago
ha..yeah, i think we've got so many allies that if someone say the u.s attacked us then its'll be us vs. the world
lescallade 2 years ago
Any attack on Canada is attack on the world. Like really we have NATO, most the british Commonwealth and all the UN to support us.
72Canadian72 2 years ago
I personally disagree, Canada is a Warring nation. Afghanistan is not a peacekeeping operation but rather a Counter Insurgency war. During the 90s our peacekeeping missions were active with battle, so still keeping us warring. The idea of Canada as peacekeepers is bullcrap, sure we popularized peacekeeping under Pearosn, but the focus of Canada has always been war. The present peacekeeping ... is war with a different name.
MrGame20 2 years ago
Just abrief overview of Canada @ war. World War 1and2, ColdWar Era:Korean War, Active in espionage, Vietnam war decalred 'neutral' but secretly supports Americans, allowing training on our land, and developed and produced chem. weapons that the USA used(Agent orange) during the war. The 'peacekeeping' of the 90s(war in disguise) and Afghanistan.
MrGame20 2 years ago
Personally i agree with that statement. But after WW2 Canada has done alot to try and create world peace (not always with peace keeping missions). Sure a good number of peace keeping missions have involved combat but a good number havent. Simply a peacekeepers presence helps to lower the regional conflicts most of the time. Technically skirmishes ect cant be labeled warring because no offical decleration of war was ever signed. Canada's population today is more for diplomacy and peace then war.
72Canadian72 2 years ago 2
I made no reference to Canada being a war nation.

There are a rare breed of people in this world who put commitment, dedication & sacrifice above every thing else in their lives and we owe them such a debt of gratitude.
If you are able to salute them as they come home for a final time please do so, it's such a simple way to honour them.
Bless all our allied troops.

I go to the bridge which is adjacent to our home to witness the repatriation of our fallen soldiers. It is an experience like no other. I feel that those of us who live here are representing the rest of our country. Today is remembrance day 2008. Lest We Forget.
