Idiots thats not it, The armor makes him near invulnerable, it doesnt give him power, Frostmourne does and the helmet only gave him control of the undead, and arthas was only a pawn not the lich king, think of it this way the lich king isnt arthas nor ner'zhul but a single being using ner'zhuls mind to hold the armor while using arthas as a flesh puppet, ergo arthas was never the lich king.

i started with getting hhis sword then killing his dad then "killing" illidan then putting on the crown which fused his and the lich kings spirits making him the new lich king
