  • God, I hate it when people ask me why do you dress up all the time? Why do you wear heels? What do say to that?! I love dressing up. It builds up your confidence high when you look nice. Wearing heels is all about being a women. I don't have one pair of flats, well besides my tennis shoes. Also I don't think he's telling you to buy High End clothes. I think he wants women to look their best. And whether its a Valentino Garavani or a dress from Tjmaxx, you can look your best! Promise!

  • It's a little sexist, a little. And this is coming from a person that doesn't really care about feminism at all. However I like what he said at the end, a women is a bouquet of flowers, very elegant, should look their best and be the best person they can be. I always look my best, I don't leave the house without makeup. Doesn't' mean I'm afraid to wear without, but I do feel its all part of being a women, makeup, heels, etc. But don't expect me to dress up at home. LOL Home is wear I relax.

  • did he call himself a woman at the end?

  • a women doesnt need to b "perfect" to b sensational. Women in jogging trousers w/no makeup can still b sensational b/c of the way she carries herself, thinks, and diverges from the norms of what is considered "beauty." So I beg to differ w/V as when I see women copying high couture and everything in magazines, i feel they have become not only prey to fashion/high couture but also loose themselves 4 the sake of embodying a certain sexist and patriarchal ideal/standard...it's all business gals!

  • @mahi687 you're just mad because your wearing jogging trousers with no makeup and consider yourself sensational.

  • To the perpetual question: "What do women want?" ... IL VALENTINO simply said: "... to be beautiful" ... How true! ... So, let's all make a bigger effort to be just that: BEAUTIFUL ... Outside-in and inside-out ... Let us find our true destiny again! ... Baci`, Julia

  • so why is he a homosexual

    its amazing

  • Couldn't have said it better myself :)

Being a woman/feminine is a gift from God and we just need live it up. I agree, women have become "too relax" and it's not a bad thing but treasure your femininity. Don't do it for men but do it for youself and to celebrate womanhood. I do miss the times when women dressed with class and sophistication :)

  • Indeed, I definately agree with Valentino.

I travel to europe a lot and I find the women there more stylish than here in home in the US.

  • That's a good sample of a woman's pic....

    Thank you for sharing !

  • his words are those of a true fashion legend.

    Forza Valentino!

  • everyone should check out the official clips from Valentino: The Last Emperor through our facebook group and on youtube under the usernam valentinomovie

    thanks

  • Is there a 'release date' in North America, where the film will be readily available to the public (not just via film festivals etc.)?

  • I love his view of women; I wish we could return to a time when women were more careful with their appearance. It takes two seconds to put on a pair of earrings and a dap of lipstick.

  • I love what Valentino says here about women. He understood women. Sending much love to you in Italy dearest Valentino. Your talents as a Fashion Designer will always be remembered and cherished as you will be. Love to Valentino!! Ti Amo! Tina

  • Yes, we were born to show ourselves, always at the best. Well said, Valentino! Wish more people would hear and understand this. Bravo!

  • I love what he said, he didn't say it in a mean way but just in a honest way...and it's not that he doesn't like women wthout make-up like he said!

  • i love his accent his style his definition of "new women"

  • i understand Valentino´s point of view..sincerelly,i agree with him!

  • im not sure if he meant it in a sexist way, more in a complimentary way.

  • amm ... I see a point in what he said but why can't we be running around and be relaxed? A little sexist ... in a way ..

  • sexist much ?

  • @Lullybean I agree with you...He is a bit sexist... especially since with his standard of beauty, not everyone can afford to be in high fashion. In order for a woman from his standards to be truly sensational and beautiful, even without makeup, they would need lots of money. Feminism does not equate to his standard of beauty. He does have a beautiful accent. My question to him is: Are you going to buy my dress? It is not me being cheap, just honest! We are not celebrities with fame and fortune.
