  • damn this jam brings back memories!!!! when i was small mom and pops bumping this song

  • What year did this song come out?

  • The Whispers released this song on the Dore Label in 1965 !!!!!

  • I'm born and raised in Oakland, where the Whispers are from, and I remember my older brother coming home with this 45 back in the day and telling me that some guys he went to school with (The Whispers themselves) gave it to him, and if I'm not mistaken the flip side was "Needle in a Haystack," Man! I was blown away.

The Whispers are definitely a singing group for the ages. Whom I was fortunate enough to be able to catch from their very beginnings.

  • @XSGAME4U I was born and raised on the other side of The Bay (San Francisco) and I remember the Whispers were coming out when I was in Portola Junior HS.. This song, Needle In A Haystack, It's a Great Day.. great memories!!

  • @XSGAME4U The Whispers are from Jordan Downs homes, LA ca, they did most of their early stuff in Oakland but they're from LA.

  • @XSGAME4U I was reading your post, and I have to correct you on one of your facts. The Whispers are all from Watts, CA, which is Southern California. They may have performed in Oakland, but they are not from there. You can google their bios, and you will see that they are in fact from Southern California, not Northern Cali. I am a die-hard fan from way back, and I've seen them in concert about five times. They are well worth the money many times over.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • this ones fuckin beautiful man! with your heina under one arm and a 40 in the other hand haha city of orange putos!!

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • NICE ASS SONG RIGHT HERE

    A CLASSIC

  • I LOVE IT

  • Love this. They were on the Dore label with another terrific group The Superbs.

Marvellous music from the end of the doo wop era and the beginning of early soul.

  • The Whispers. I wonder what happened to them??

    (Just Kidding)

  • LOL

  • This is still a really good song. It will never get old.

  • This was a big favorite of the late nite DJ's in Pittsburgh. First time I heard it I was hooked on "The Whispers" and have been a huge fan ever since. These brothers can blow!!!

  • DJ huggy boy would play on XPRS in So Cal. I'd pick up my home boys we'd start at the projects & end up at the park crusin' along the river. Them were the days when we all got along. Me an Italian kid hanging with Chicanos & Cubanos. My girl would never show up so I'd be "Sitting all alone" waiting for her. This song still reminds me of her. We ended up marrying then divorcing. I saw her again last night and we jumped in my ride and I played this song. She remarried. She cryed when we parted.

  • i agree its a great song.

what part of so. cal did you grow up in?

    my familys from culver city.

  • Robz. Croon3. I see that you grew up in Culver City. I went to west L.A. in Culver City in 86-87.

  • There isn't much music like this anymore, most unfortunately. The Whispers have created such romantic, sexy and beautiful music for decades. I can't imagine life as a music lover without their incredible music stylings. I am truly one of their most truest fans. I hope they continue to make beautiful music until there is no more breath in their collective bodies. I have so much of their music and keep discovering more...like this tune. I LOVE IT!!

  • love this song!!!!!

  • Jenni941, that is brilliant! Thanks.

  • Thank you for putting this out! That's my jam!

  • This early release by this superfine group is one of their greatest recordings, as were all their Great releases they recorded for the Dore record label!
