I liked FF12. I might be the minority here but I was always a fan of the Ivalice FF world and I liked the complex political undertones to the story. Haters GTFO and go play Black Ops.
FFXII Is great, it's just different from more classic FFs. Fight system and story are great, only qualm I have is that leveling can sometimes be a grind. And the soundtrack isn't made by Nobuo ;)
Absolutely - get it! It's the best FF ever made. So brilliant story, battle system, weapons, characters - it's awesome in every way! I don't even find flaws now that I think. My idea is: GET IT.

agreed and it had The best battle system and no f*cking random fights. I really hated it in the other FF that they take turns to fight but this FF12 wasn't like that and the side-quest were really fun. I'm still trying to defeat the final esper >:( I kind of agree that the story wasn't the best one out there but it isn't bad to the the point of hating on the game. Ashe gets on my nerves sometimes but it really wasn't that bad. I really loved this game <3

A gentlemanly sky-pirate who fights with guns, a boy who wants to be a sky-pirate, his best friend/love interest (who wears gigantic pigtails), a mysterious girl who is heir to a legendary legacy, a traitor working for the greater good, magic rocks, an evil empire, flying ships, a plot built around collecting glowy rocks before the evil empire can use them for total world domination--holy shit, was there a damn checklist they went down or what?
I'm sorry but the characters and the plot to this game were boring. The dialogue was boring and dull, and horribly clumsy. This game was so slow, I might as well have been watching paint dry. How did Square Enix let this happen so soon after FFX? Have they lost their way?
@melbyRick I think you may not have got the story thats it. The first time I played it I was like "wth just happened?" but after i'd got used to it and learned the storyline the game was amazing.

Somehow I think this game was like the gateway into FFXIII and I mean that in more than a numerical sense. Oh well...
I don't think this was the best, I have a few issues with it: I felt the characters were really weak, not necessarily in battle but more in the story-telling part. The free roaming was nice, but the battle system still needed work. Also, the weapons and armors, as I remembered, were all pretty much the same for each character, I wish it was a bit more customized. This game didn't really get me excited like the other ff games. It's ok, in my opinion.
@ynnckynnck I AGREE ITS WAS AMAZING. I loved alot of pS2 rpgs like kingdom hearts 2, Final fantasy 10 and xenosage. but boy FF12 really blew them away. I had never played I a game so addicting.
This is the best FF trailer i've seen. It doesn't spoil anything and doesn't give away too much, and best of all, it hooks you in.
i hated the FFXiii trailer. Oh, it was gorgeous, but it gave away so much, showed all those emotional scenes, that when i finally played the game, i didn't feel anything cuz i already saw it in the trailer! it left me with nothing.
Final Fantasy XII was beautifully crafted, but the game's story was far too poorly-paced and dull and the characters were too underdeveloped and uninteresting, and the game was by far and away the most tedious single-player experience I have ever endured. It was not a bad game by any means, though. I personally enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII MUCH more, although both games have their setbacks. Unlike what some retards think in the comments section, every FF aside from XIV has been good/great.
FF 13 was disgusting, it wasn't a RPG. FF 12, is not a RPG, but the best of the sequel, with Lots of Dungeons and Fields, well made story ( with beautiful movies,finally), Excellent soundtracks, brilliants ; Wonderful graphics and Hundreds of hours of game, even after defeating the final boss. There are a lot of quests and hunts to do. Amazing game, this FF was one of the uniques games from nowadays that continued to fun with game aspects, not just graphics. Congratulations Square Enix =D
I know this game gets a lot of bull, but it's based up to opinion i guess. Personally my favorite was XIII, but again, opinionized. Sure this game has some flaws anyone can admit, but it was still a good game. Nobody can really say this is better than any other FF because if you say i love/hate FFXII, really nobody has to care, no matter what, everything in the world that you can love or hate is based off of opinion, right?
I say 3rd first being FFIV on ds and then FFVII on PS1. reason being the battle system did play itself too often so it took away the fun alittle but my fault really for having gambits on the leader. but most important factor is FFVII just had alot of secerts like extra characters which added to the story and events of the game just keep everythign fresh. also both made more sense why you had 3 characters fighting instead of all, also I didn't know what to expect with FFIV story
@afoninja121, FF13 was the third ,most disappointing FF game [first is FF14 and second is FF11], the graphics was amazing but a good graphics doesn't make a good game. A good game should have good[engaging] storyline and a good gameplay, FF13 is too linear, has too many cutscenes, battle system was not as good as previous games, no cities[except in Cocoon though you can only revisit 1 of them], confusing weapon system to new players, characters not as mesmerizing as previous characters etc..
@tsheringwb I liked the story, music and graphics. all the limitions kind of makes it feel more like a movie than a game. is it me is or are the bosses too hard because of all the limitions and confusing battle systems.
This game is good, nice graphics and storyline the only thing i hate about this game is its battle system i like the older ff when the screen breaks :) for me ff9 is the best :)
Final Fantasy XII evolved the series in almost every aspect, shame though not many see it that way. It's truly a sad day when game that offers such freedom, excellent gameplay and music, huge amount of extra content and sidequests, features a non cliche story unlike it's predecessors, is by many considered the weakest link in franchise, when it should be other way around.

Iff FF isn't going back to the classic world map, then I wish every game would one like in XII. I don't care if the actual dungeons are linear in design (like every stage in XIII), but I like a world map like they had in XII. It just seemed to go on forever. The story line in XII was meh, but there was so much freedom, and such an expansive world. IMO...while XIII had a great story, the linearity was a little irritating.

I like every aspect of Final Fantasy, especially the medieval setting with their airships, castles, dungeons, armors, stories etc. That's why I love FF12 and 9 so much because they fulfilled my expectations. Futuristic setting like FF7, 8 and 13 is okay but I feel the futuristic setting itself who made Final Fantasy lost its true essence. That's my opinion
I've played final fantasy since ffvii, even the xi piece. Ffxii was the only one that couldn't capture my attention. I don't know why, but I just couldn't get into the game. Maybe it just developed too slow or something. I just hope they never try to come out with another online game...it hurt my feelings.

IMO every FF game is amazing. This is my least favorite FF game, but that doesn't mean anything. This is still a great game, and I can see people absolutely loving this game. Although my favorite FF's are XIII and X, with VIII and IX being close 2nd's.
I WANT to try Tactics. I'm not sure when I will though. And people need to stop getting hyped for Versus... we know NOTHING about it. But anyways, yeah I'm playing through FFXIII and it's AMAZING BEYOND BELIEF. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm loving every second of it.
thats good to know that ffxiii is good, because i plan on getting it soon (and i cant get its themesong out of my head)... and i am hyped for 13 versus because the characters look interesting, from what i hear the plot seem good, and its final fantasy they almost (few exceptions) always deliver good if not great titles :D

well it doesn't matter. I'm planning on getting GOW3 in the summer, after I get GOW Collection for my bday along with some other games. As long as you eventually get FFXIII it doesn't matter. But it's an AMAZING and LONG experience.
Idk, FF12's visuals seemed off compared to their significant others like 10, and within a couple days, I lost interest. Maybe one day I'll get back to it, and give it another shot. A lot of the comments are positive 0_0, which I wasn't expecting.
i thought this game was good, but when i saw the trailer to ff13 i nearly jizzed my pants the story looks so deep and the characters look so much more interesting than the charactwers of ff12 (dont get me wrong ff12 was amazing on every aspect but from what i have seen ff13 just seems to surpass it on every lavel)
@afoninja121 I agree but FF12 would of been better for ps3. That way they would be able to advance the gameplay and the plot further but since it is for ps2 this is what we got. I don't really like the whole transformer summoning thing but the summoning monsters look awesome the way they are. The multiple attack combo is awesome though.
@afoninja121 I have to disagree. The gameplay is linear (which isn't a huge problem) and the only characters that are realistic and tolerable are Sazh (!!!) and Yun Fang. They've taken insane klutz to another level with Vanille, Hope is the whiniest character I've ever encountered in a Final Fantasy game, Snow makes a pretentious ass out of himself whenever he says "hero", and Lightning is the most stiff character ever. No character development until MUCH later and the plot...BAD storytelling.

@afoninja121 Yeah, XIII had enormous potential to be truly great. The lore about fal'Cie, l'Cie, Cocoon and Gran Pulse were interesting concepts. But the devs may have been a bit too focused on flash and the zippy battle system to really care about more details. Hopefully Versus and FFXV will do right by the series.

That's true. I'm not badmouthing it at all, Final Fantasy 12 is my favorite of all FFs, haha. I've done everything there is to do in the game, and the feeling of satisfaction is definitely worth it. :)

I was under the impression that FFXIII had the same battle system. I also think that if it's a good game the graphics shouldn't bother you. But hey, to each his own.
@emberenchant no the graphics dont bother me (if i had my old small tv) but now i got a new big flat screen, and well the graphics look blurry, and so now i just want to play one that has good graphics, but i wished that FF13 would have had the same battle style
I stopped playing the game when I reached Garuvegan (or w.e it was called) simply because the leveling took FOREVER and I'm very impatient with that stuff.
Not to mention the Kings English really didn't help. I was so confused in the game, I didn't know what I was doing.
But the game had a great plot, great visuals, great characters (besides Penelo), and I also didn't mind the battle system.
All in all....a good game...it just lost my attention...
I really liked this one, and I think the story had a lot of substance. The character development wasn't as integral as most final fantasy games. It was kind of like FFTactics in this sense (funny, both games had the same director) but i thought the open-ended exploration and dungeon-crawling aspect of this one was a lot of fun. Plus, it had much better voice acting than 10
Don't hate on me but i liked the battle system. The freedom of waltzing up to something and hitting it without triggering a battle mode or whatever relating to it :D

if you've been a long final fantasy fan, buy it for the sake of collection
but if your looking for a great final fantasy experience or a revolutionary final fantasy like 7/10, you wont find it in 13, you wont discover things for yourself in the game its completely stripped from the things i loved about final fantasy

eh, I am not big on the battle system...they could have sticked with one of there former systems but the storyline is pretty well developed. I don't like the characters soo much, as I feel they need more character development, like a sense of growing up with expierence through the storyline. Vaan, sometimes act like a little kid but it is a pretty okay game to play. The graphics are very nice, but the battle system (ugh...the annoying lines) totally ticked me off. :] 3.5/5!

I definitely missed the old battle turn... but in ffXII is faster, so better, speaking of time. After 100 hours of old FFs, you grow up only the half of this FF.

I liked this game and its system and the sound track is good,but there are just a couple of problems that I found for me:
1. There is no real main character (seriously Vaan?) apart from Bosch and Ashe.
2. Unlike all other FF games there is no real main villain apart from Larsa's brother at the VERY end.
3. I loved the tower scene and the battle on the top which was epic :) however I cant even begin to think about the time it took to climb the tower.
Apart from that this game is great!

Iff FF isn't going back to the classic world map, then I wish every game would one like in XII. I don't care if the actual dungeons are linear in design (like every stage in XIII), but I like a world map like they had in XII. It just seemed to go on forever. The story line in XII was meh, but there was so much freedom, and such an expansive world. IMO...while XIII had a great story, the linearity was a little irritating.

I like every aspect of Final Fantasy, especially the medieval setting with their airships, castles, dungeons, armors, stories etc. That's why I love FF12 and 9 so much because they fulfilled my expectations. Futuristic setting like FF7, 8 and 13 is okay but I feel the futuristic setting itself who made Final Fantasy lost its true essence. That's my opinion

ah man i remember when i used to think that this was the worse final fantasy ever....
now, after playing FF13, i have a HUGE respect for ff12,...
great world, great characters (except vaan), lots of weapons, customizations, exploration, cities, powers etc.; there was just so much to do.

I've played final fantasy since ffvii, even the xi piece. Ffxii was the only one that couldn't capture my attention. I don't know why, but I just couldn't get into the game. Maybe it just developed too slow or something. I just hope they never try to come out with another online game...it hurt my feelings.

@dabears1337 Just because something is new does not mean it is best. Final fantasy 7 is obviously the most popular addition to the series but I for one, believe that Final fantasy 9 was the best. The Final Fantasy games back then were much better than the ones coming now.

each FF is COMPLETELY different, don't whine about an FF game just because "it's not like FF__!!!". Just because it's not like the last FF, it doesn't mean it's terrible. FFXIII is a WONDERFUL game for the people who's tastes suit the game.

IMO every FF game is amazing. This is my least favorite FF game, but that doesn't mean anything. This is still a great game, and I can see people absolutely loving this game. Although my favorite FF's are XIII and X, with VIII and IX being close 2nd's.

I WANT to try Tactics. I'm not sure when I will though. And people need to stop getting hyped for Versus... we know NOTHING about it. But anyways, yeah I'm playing through FFXIII and it's AMAZING BEYOND BELIEF. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm loving every second of it.

thats good to know that ffxiii is good, because i plan on getting it soon (and i cant get its themesong out of my head)... and i am hyped for 13 versus because the characters look interesting, from what i hear the plot seem good, and its final fantasy they almost (few exceptions) always deliver good if not great titles :D

well it doesn't matter. I'm planning on getting GOW3 in the summer, after I get GOW Collection for my bday along with some other games. As long as you eventually get FFXIII it doesn't matter. But it's an AMAZING and LONG experience.

Idk, FF12's visuals seemed off compared to their significant others like 10, and within a couple days, I lost interest. Maybe one day I'll get back to it, and give it another shot. A lot of the comments are positive 0_0, which I wasn't expecting.

i thought this game was good, but when i saw the trailer to ff13 i nearly jizzed my pants the story looks so deep and the characters look so much more interesting than the charactwers of ff12 (dont get me wrong ff12 was amazing on every aspect but from what i have seen ff13 just seems to surpass it on every lavel)

@afoninja121 I agree but FF12 would of been better for ps3. That way they would be able to advance the gameplay and the plot further but since it is for ps2 this is what we got. I don't really like the whole transformer summoning thing but the summoning monsters look awesome the way they are. The multiple attack combo is awesome though.

@afoninja121 I have to disagree. The gameplay is linear (which isn't a huge problem) and the only characters that are realistic and tolerable are Sazh (!!!) and Yun Fang. They've taken insane klutz to another level with Vanille, Hope is the whiniest character I've ever encountered in a Final Fantasy game, Snow makes a pretentious ass out of himself whenever he says "hero", and Lightning is the most stiff character ever. No character development until MUCH later and the plot...BAD storytelling.

@afoninja121 Yeah, XIII had enormous potential to be truly great. The lore about fal'Cie, l'Cie, Cocoon and Gran Pulse were interesting concepts. But the devs may have been a bit too focused on flash and the zippy battle system to really care about more details. Hopefully Versus and FFXV will do right by the series.

The longest? I'd disagree. The game when played by the storyline is actually quite short. It's all the side-content like hunts, espers and whatnot that make it seem longer.

That's true. I'm not badmouthing it at all, Final Fantasy 12 is my favorite of all FFs, haha. I've done everything there is to do in the game, and the feeling of satisfaction is definitely worth it. :)

I stopped playing the game when I reached Garuvegan (or w.e it was called) simply because the leveling took FOREVER and I'm very impatient with that stuff.
Not to mention the Kings English really didn't help. I was so confused in the game, I didn't know what I was doing.
But the game had a great plot, great visuals, great characters (besides Penelo), and I also didn't mind the battle system.
All in all....a good game...it just lost my attention...

I really liked this one, and I think the story had a lot of substance. The character development wasn't as integral as most final fantasy games. It was kind of like FFTactics in this sense (funny, both games had the same director) but i thought the open-ended exploration and dungeon-crawling aspect of this one was a lot of fun. Plus, it had much better voice acting than 10

if you've been a long final fantasy fan, buy it for the sake of collection
but if your looking for a great final fantasy experience or a revolutionary final fantasy like 7/10, you wont find it in 13, you wont discover things for yourself in the game its completely stripped from the things i loved about final fantasy
it felt like an jrpg trying to be western
its good enough in its own respect, but its a final fantasy experience that i will happly forget

eh, I am not big on the battle system...they could have sticked with one of there former systems but the storyline is pretty well developed. I don't like the characters soo much, as I feel they need more character development, like a sense of growing up with expierence through the storyline. Vaan, sometimes act like a little kid but it is a pretty okay game to play. The graphics are very nice, but the battle system (ugh...the annoying lines) totally ticked me off. :] 3.5/5!

I definitely missed the old battle turn... but in ffXII is faster, so better, speaking of time. After 100 hours of old FFs, you grow up only the half of this FF.
They might have improved character's charism.
