I have heard all sorts of Franklins ('75/'76,'77,'79 versions where Brent would be going crazy with experimental jams, and ones all throughout the '80s and early '90s) and I have to say that I think this one takes the cake. The only bad thing about it is the lack of a Help/Slip to go with it, but that wouldn't really fit Garcia's early Tiger sound anyway
I have seen all these Grateful Dead videos on youtube about 300,000 times but I can never stop watching them because there's nothing like seeing the Dead play.
listening to this music is like ahhhh therapy, most of the time I feel stressed. I wish I could backwards in history maybe twenty years or so. the world sure isnt getting any kinder or maybe I am just waking up and its always been this way.

What a jam-only the Grateful Dead-Jerry always played like he was performing for god=Somebody once said Jerry could play a sad song and it would have a touch of happiness or a happy song with a hint of sadness-Not sure what it was but it was magic......Las Vegas 94 I will never forget after they had left the stage the fans that were down in the festival seating still dancing and chanting for like an hour after the show ended-there was one dude holding up a large sign that said "SMILE" Perfect!!!
Cheers my friends from San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina!! Life is Greatful Dead in EEUU and Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota in Argentina... Love forever!

Heh. In the top 40 that week: Pat Benetar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Leo Sayer - More Than I Can Say, Air Supply - All Out Love, and at #1 Barbra Streisand - Woman In Love. Just for some perspective! Roll away the dew....
If you are a deadhead you may find it interesting to google "Franklin's Bells", a very interesting apparatus invented by Benjamin Franklin and possibly an inspiration for this particular song.

I will never understand how they did shows tripping!! I was never able to take anything seriously while tripping. I was usually tripping so hard at shows, the sounds melted together, so I couldn't make out the words ( I think they couldn't either, so they went into space!!!

@catcaller1 That was the best part of seeing Bobby for the first time...taking pictures and little video snips of what I'd seen of him and then seeing it all play out...he hasn't changed! It was really so darn cool! I felt like it was like watching Bob at any point in time just because of the distinctive head movements! Crazy, cool, and lots of fun! Made it all the more special. Got to get pictures with him and Mark Karan. One of my favorite moments.
Bob would always do that because he couldn't use his head at the time he wants to move his hair out of the way from the mike, plus he wanted to make his cut clear, after his singing part. It's hysterical, especially with his eyes bugged-out, at the time he sings his part. He does it the whole time he sings.
exceptional!!! i remember being at radio city for this tour, as a much younger women,
i knew that this was the best band in the world at the time of this show, i wa lucky enough to see them at radio city many times in my early 20"s. there is nothing comparable to this. i have tickets for the further show at radio city this month, and although i will have a good time, it's never going to be like this was. all i can say is that the music will live on, deb

L.O.L.

C'mon kids-- A magical roaming child of destiny is coming in this unfertile time of sand and stone and will "Ring the Bell". It is a wild flower child that is blessed and we know it, and those aware are watching night and day because of what he means and what light he will surely bring.
