Actually, there were some serious problems with Derek Freeman's critique. For example, he omitted information in the sources that he used that in fact supported Mead. A closer reading of the sources he used and some of his ethnographic methods show that his work is not necessarily conclusive in regards to Mead's study of Samoa.
