  • Davy Jones' final recorded song is at this link:

    youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nT9uk4X8awg#!

It's called "Written In My Heart". Was recorded just weeks ago. His agent gave the okay for it to upped to YT. Check it out and spread the word to get it at least a million views. Davy deserves it.

  • RIP

  • R.I.P. Davy.

  • RIP Davey from a kid growing up in the 60's in australia

  • I liked Davy singing in the Monkees than Micky.RIP Davy!

  • Wow...I've loved this song since I was a kid, but now it remids me of my wife lol!

  • Such a shame, so sad to hear it, God bless you Davy Jones xxx

  • rip Davy I'm bawling xoxoxoxo

    You made my childhood bearable.

  • R.I.P Davy </3 :(

  • Great vid! Well worth the time and effort you put into it! :-)

  • Didn't they use this song in the episode where Peter fell in love with a princess?

  • copyright? they put the damn song out when i was a child: it formed some small fragment of my consciousness... THEY OWE ME! Or get out of my FUCKING HEAD!

  • wow! a great song! now i need to go to the music store and pick up the monkees greatest hits cd. i kept passing it up but now i gotta' pick it up! thanks for the post!

  • Good Lord, they are HOT when they are all suited up! ;-)

  • Be carefull your video doesn't get pulled for copyright violations.

  • it's pretty sad that these songs get pulled, because they remind a lot of people about the great music of their childhood.

  • Not to mention they introduce more people to new music. I got into all of my favorite musicians through YouTube.

  • yeah, me too.

  • estos le copiron a the beatles y no tocan

  • ¡El Beatles y El Monkees son ambos impresionante!

  • In my opinion this song holds up really well. Always liked "She."

  • Sorry chief, but Tork actually plays a half-dozen instruments. Look up the YouTube video under "Solfeggietto" for a sample of his keyboard playing.

  • There music was real. Every band has studio musicians at one time or another. They never had anyone sing for them, it was all their own vocals, and they played their own instruments. In the beginning they were under the musical control of a butt-hole who wouldnt allow them to play their own instruments, so when they finally managed to get rid of him they did what they wanted from then on. If The Monkees are fakes, then so are about a half of a billion other famous bands.

  • @cscmonkeefan The Beatles liked them....Mike Nesmith appeared in a Beatles' video: A Day in the Life.

  • This is the Monkees answer to "Girl" (Beatles). "Why do I want her so much if she is a bitch"

  • I had such a crush on Mickey....

  • I did too, and when he came to watch our school musical of 'Bugsy Malone' I could barely contain myself!

He was a really genuine guy too.

Reminds me of 1970's summer holidays, White Horses, Zorro, Why Don't You, Flash Gordon, Lassie, Champion The Wonder Horse & those hysterical Public Information films LOL.

I named my son after a certain Cannonball Express driver too *blushes*.

  • That was to louiesmom007 by the way re Mickey D.

Sometimes YT doesn't post the response underneath the original message.

  • You lucky girl!

I, unfortunately, did not get to experience the 70's summers, being born in '73. I discovered them when I was 12, having been a fan of the Beatles-

I do remember Romper Room, and HR Puffenstuff- *groan*

  • I remember watching all of these episodes, damn great memories ty for sharing!

  • Soy fan de The Monkees desde los años 60'S fue un conjunto musical impresionante.

  • I can remember watching this in the 80's when I was like 4 in Chicago. I miss those times. Used to love the Monkees.

  • cool song, never hear it ! Thanks for posting...was worth it just to see Peter Tork flying as Superman...

  • Thanks for posting this!!! I just love the Monkees!! I got to see them in my hometown, when they were much older but they still sounded great! They're all good but I just LOVE Mickey's voice!! :)

  • Peter Tork ,you'll always be my first love! How cute is????? I love the end of this episode when Peter smiles and winks at the camera.

  • awesome song!!!

  • Micky had such a great voice

  • I agree - he has such an AWESOME voice!!!!!

  • Wonder how many girls liked this song.

  • groovy song

  • muy buena. es una de mis canciones favoritas de mis momkees

  • I LOVE MICKY!!!! espeically his HUFF PUFF song!

  • a good song

  • I remember watching this show every Sat. morning.

  • lol i always thought Davy and Peter where the cutest!! =)

  • They were my favorites too. Davy was in Illinois 2 years ago singing at a fest. He's just great!

  • I also cried over this song, but replacing the 'she' for 'he'.

  • I was 14 yrs. old when the Monkees came onto the scene. YEARS later they made a come-back, a friend of my son asked if she could record off of my albums. When she saw them she was amazed...she said " These are originals"!!!!!!

  • who'd ever punch davey in the face:*( (sad, sad, cry, cry) he stood up to someone 3 x's his size though! He's brave! WOW!

  • He is brave.

  • I was a child of the 1970's when reruns of TV shows from the 60's took off. The Monkees was then and still is one of my favorite TV shows. This song is one of my favorites!

  • Guess that would make you "Dike" sized?

  • "She" by The Monkees, along with many other garage band songs of the 60s, set the tone for the punk rock sound. This song was a detour from The Monkess usual "pop" and "country rock" song flavors.

  • Im shorter than Mike but taller than Dave so how tall am I??????.

  • Who do you think is the cutest monkee? I think it's mike.

  • micky is my fav, he's so cute i like his hair :DD

"she devoured all my sweet 'n low" 0:47

  • Haha, '...all of my sweet and low'. That's funny but I think he's actually saying "She Devoured all my sweet love", but it does sound like he's saying 'sweet and low'. Lol.

  • Peter was my favorite..Then Mike

  • I LOVE Micky

  • I think they're all cute but in my opinion it'd be Davy, Mike, Micky, and then Peter.

  • Davey is so tiny.... Cute as sh-t

  • MIckey was the best one !! He did the best song's and had a weird head !! He looks a bit like Jack Nicholson !!

  • Better than the Beatles to me!!

  • not my favorite song by them, they are like my third favortie band of ALL TIME!!!!!!

I love them and I'm only like what, 13?

    dude they rock!

anyone who knocks them need some help because most of their songs were just as good as any Beatles songs.

    they were so cute!

  • Great video!! 5 stars!

  • I had a friend in the 60s who looked just like Mickey, his name was Stacey and he caught hell for that name and we nicknamed him Tinkerbell! He was funny and it seemed like all the teasing never bothered him. Great song by a band who defined a generation in the late 60s thier music was great and I think they were made fun of becuase of the show. They still are great and thier music always brings back memories.

  • TheWoodstockChannel, that's perfectly fine. And don't apologize. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a man crush. I love Micky too. How can you not love him? He's sexy, adorable and funny.

    PS: awesome username.

  • funny as it may seems , i had a girlfiend back then that treated me the same way she said she would never hurt me but she did . she got her's and life go's on .

  • he has a man crush he needs help

  • Hey, cut the hate language out!

  • I have a man-crush on Mickey. Please forgive me...

  • Lol ur forgiven but you dont need to apologize who wouldnt like micky he is cute and amazing and very funny :)

  • My friend's daughter who is probably about 15 or so has big crushes on Mickey Dolenz from back then and Dave Gilmour from Floyd's Meddle period. I was like, "Hate to break it to you, but they're both old enough to be your grandpa". Haha.

  • You can watch The Monkees movie HEAD(Full 86 Min.)on GOOGLE Movie Site

  • Awesome band. Great songs. Heard an interview with Nesmith a long time ago, the interviewer kept asking about the band, and would the band get back together, would they tour. He set her straight: The Monkees were ACTORS, not a band, not musicians (except for himself), didn't play their own instruments. Despite that they were a fabulous band, IMHO! Saw Peter Tork perform last year, myself. :-)

  • I don't believe you simply because Mike would never say that. Peter is one hell of a musician-he plays 12 different intruments! He and Mike were both accomplshed muscians when they were cast for The Monkees. Mickey did have to take drum lessons but did know the guitar and Davy was a Tony Award nominated singer and actor on Broadway, known for his briliant performance as the Artful Dodger in "Oliver!".

Oh and the Monkees have toured since the show went off the air..in 86, 97, and 2001.

  • Hi SueWNY, I tried looking up the archive, but couldn't find it on the NPR site. It was a radio interview with Terry Gross on NPR more than 8 years ago I'd say. While I cannot directly quote Mike, he was emphatic that they were hired actors. Hey I love them too, don't get me wrong, enormously charismatic, and great performers.

  • That's odd that Mike would say that because he's said in the past that Peter had the most musicality and that they were hired for their playing and the other two for their singing and acting backgrounds. The only thing I've ever heard Nesmith say emphatically is that they indeed were HIRED for the show, which is stating the obvious.

In fact, he said he was NOT an actor so that contradicts what you say he supposedly said.

  • He said it from hate.

  • great work you brought back my kid memories thanx.....A ++++

  • I love the Monkees and recently discovered the Cowsills videos on Youtube, didn't know they were the inspiration for the Partridge Family. I can't believe it but I'm currently more obsessed with the Cowsills than the Monkees!

  • The Cowsills are indeed cool. That said, the Monkees are still way at the top for me. Lately, I've been rediscovering the Beau Brummels- fantastic stuff. Check them out if you haven't yet!

  • Robertmmm7 thanks! I just checked out the Beau Brummels and plan to watch all their videos. I love that song that goes "Laugh Laugh, I thought I'd die..." it's great. I wish the Monkees would have another tour so I could see them, and I wouldn't mind seeing the Beau Brummels either, wonder if they're still performing?

  • Must you spam every single Monkees video with this tripe?

  • Well I apologize...

  • Wasn't this song originally featured on an episode where they helped out a bankrupt circus or carney? It's been years since I've heard this song so I'm not sure.

  • I wish they were back on the air

  • You can find quite a few episodes on youtube. I found the entire first season on here and most of second season. You can also check on ebay. They have both seasons on dvd. That's where I got mine. I hope I helped you.

  • a totally underreated group!

  • Thank you! Yes they are!

  • They upstaged Hendrix believe it or not

  • Actually, Hendrix once opened for them and he BOMBED! Wrong audience, I guess.

  • I could easily see this being covered by a metal band. Is there one?

  • Tight song!

  • I love this song and many others by The Monkees. I used to watch their show growing up.

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  • I LOVE Mickey Dolenz

  • Wow...that was a very unnecessary ugly comment.

  • Slimcase are you kidding? Dolenz is handsome!

  • these guys were a major influence on the beatles

  • hahahahahaha...good one...

  • i thought they copied the beatles (but monkees are SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better! I love Mickey!!!!!!!)

  • no the other guys just REALLY tall

  • 1:04 he's so short.

  • Davy's only 5'3 and the others were either 6'0 or close to 6'0. They made him seem really short. Lol. Who cares though right?

  • omg i'm Davy's hieght

  • I'm actually two inches shorter than him. Lol.

  • lolz!!

  • hey the monkees were up their on the rock n roll totem poll in the 60's

  • Do some research DEEP177 and you will find out that the Monkees were never really a fake band and that from the start they became more and more of a real band...that's one of te things that's so neat about them! You will love the Monkees more and more the more you learn about them!

  • amen.

  • The way I understood it, their producers wanted them to remain a "fake" band but the band wanted to play their own music and subsequently did so.

  • but sadly that killed them

  • To DEEP177: The Monkees made 11 albums. Despite what you may of heard, they sang on all 11 albums. No one covered their voices. Unlike today's performers they actually knew how to play insturments. They played the instruments on 9 of the albums and wrote a great deal of those songs. That's about as real as it gets and certainly more than anyone current. Do your homework because right now you're looking pretty dumb.

  • The Monkees did write some of their own songs, and I like Carole King but I am glad the Monkees did covers of hers and other songwriters' compositions because I happen to like hearing the Monkees' versions.

  • one of my faves, ever!

  • great tune and lots of memories. Thanks for posting!

  • und immernoch bekomme ich Gänsehaut !!!!

  • Could you upload an unedited version too?

  • Thank god for On Demand! It has Monkees episodes!

  • Wow! Micky was so hot!

  • Best Monkees song, great sound.

  • Check out "I'm a Believer, My life of Monkees, Music, and Mayhem" by Mickey Dolenz. It is a good read.

  • hey hey, Micky is still cute, and eventhough I really do like him alot, you have to admit that Peter looks like he had a lot of drugs a couple of decades ago. sorry, but still love'ya..

  • I love this song, but then again I love many other songs. When the Monkees were younger they were all cute, but now the only ones that still have thier cuteness is Mike, Peter, and Davy.

  • Who can tell me what TV show Mickey Dolenz (the drummer and singer of this song) stared in back in the 1950'S?

  • "CIRCUS BOY" "CORKY" WAS HIS NAME

  • Very Good! You're the winner. You can see Mickey by searching "Circus Boy". It was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid.

  • Wow I didn't think of looking for Circus Boy on you tube, thanks for the tip I have been wanting to watch it ever since I heard Micky was in it! I've seen pictures of him in it and he said they dyed his hair blonde for some reason...then when the show was over he got made fun of when he went back to regular school and his hair was growing out with the dark roots. Poor Micky, I want to give him a hug!

  • very cool bro! Grew up on The Monkeys. I can appreciate all your hard work,I put my wife through HELL putting ours together, Please have a look. 5 stars to you and more...

  • I felt so bad for Davy in this vid gettin smacked like that it looked like it just might hurt. but i thought it was funny to see Peter fling lol luv these guys.

  • love the monkee's then love still love them now

  • This is an awesome breakup song!

  • I have this on a cd. this is an Awesome song.

    "don`t touch the grooooooooound." :-)

  • They were such a unique talent, they complemented each other so well (what a lucky find for the producers to find four guys, out of hundreds of pics, with that kind of talent and chemistry). One in a hundred million shot! There talent and music have stood the test of time and will forever! Thanks for posting! And thanks Monkees for giving us so much joy! HEY! HEY!

  • Omg!

I grew up with the Monkees!

I like them even more than The Beetles.

I'm only Sixteen and my mp3 player consists of The Monkees and The Beach Boys!

    I still think I am a weird teenager :D

  • LOL - me too! I'm not the only one, either. My little sister and I have to face the tragedy of having no one our own age knowing what the heck we're talking about. (Heh - my Mp3 player is a mix of Monkees songs, grunge rock, symphony, and random remixes from the net. Weirder still.)

    Peter's probably my fav Monkee.

    (PS - you misspelled Beatles)^_~

  • I also grew up on the monkee's while I was @ my babysitter's I 'm 27 yrs old now & I'm just in the past yr gettin fallin back in luv w/ ths Monkee's & my brother's think im nuts for likin them. The beachboys second alltime fave 70's band after the Monkee's so i know how your felling good music. p.s. i don't think your weird @ all

  • Did they actually play their own instruments?

  • I still cannot believe people still think they cannot/did not play or that there is even a question about it. How can that myth still be going around after 40 years?

  • A: A Simpsons television show episode where Marge is shown in her childhood years.

  • Your answer is something you saw in a satirical cartoon television comedy? That's priceless.

  • as with most rock groups at the time, the instruments on the albums were usually played by 'sessions muscians', since they were typically the best guitarist, drummer, bass player, etc.

on the show, of course, NOBODY was playing the instruments, as were most 'video' presentations (like on 'the monkees' or any prime time variety show).

in concert, they played their own instruments. folks forget that all were musicians and/or singers before the show began.

  • Thank you for the clarification.

  • Studio musicians were used mostly for the recordings, but the Monkees played their own instruments for the live gigs.

  • they did the singing 2 ya know. they were a real band

  • Awesome! Great Job!!!!

  • gotta love the Monkees!! Mike and Peter are my favorite!! ♥

  • man they had the spirit

    peace love and flowers

  • Superb, thanks. I met Micky last year outside a resturant in New York.

  • Just a super job and I appreciate your efforts and your talents!

    Monkee on!

  • Micky rules! Davy drools! : )

  • Great job on the video! I LOVE the Monkees!!

  • memroies

  • I still see reruns of the Monkees till this day!!!!

  • when i was little i went to a catholic school and we had to pick a middle name for the conformation so one night i was watching the monkeys and picked peter he was my favorite monkey

  • AND HAHA omg i noticed the licks! Peter licked at the end and that was pretty hott. lol

  • CarbonFibreHeart, I also noticed the licks...Michael's at the beginning was hot, too LOL!!

  • haha brilliant!

  • they were very good

  • i am also a mad cazy about the monkeys can't get enough of them

  • Mickey is a very handsome guy

  • All four of them a very handsome!
