  • CLASSIC ! ! !

  • @mega2846...You're SOOO correct! Amazing how many think its tuned different than SS does, he has to use Herco gold pics at times cause his index finger's so mangled up from use, I know, spent time with Stephen at his ranch near Caribou Ranch, Nederland, CO during Illegal Stills recording mid 70's

  • tunings nice but it kind of ruins the beautiful ending because of the lingering E tone

  • NJDirt really? are you 70?

  • The tuning is Fis, Es, Los and Sh..

Tumbs up for me being right... PLEASE..

  • DADDAD tuning my friends.

  • I started playin' it out of open D also. Older voices and not so many broken strings in the middle of a performance

  • It's out of Open D. I used to play it in open E, too. But voices change over time and the higher key results in a lot more broken strings, as well. It's easier on the neck and is just an all around better key, especially if you're going to do a 100 dates all in row.

  • Thats what age does to the voice, the high notes are a lot harder :-)

  • dodododododo do do do dododo!

  • gonna have to look into this Palmer thing me thinks

  • DIRTY GEEEETARRA

  • 7:40 listen to the beauty of EEEEBE tuning

    1, 2, 6 strings remain same

    3. 5 strings are lowered to E

4 string is raised to E

  • Thanks, I was wrong, he does use Palmer's tuning on this and many others. Thanks again.

  • Un-frickin' belivable! Now I have to go listen to Southern Cross!

  • Nice version, however I do not like all the chorus effects on Stills' guitar...

  • It's not chorus, it's because all the strings on his guitar but one are tuned to the same note.

  • It's either DADGAD OR DADDAD

  • I have read it is in "Bruce Palmer Modal Tuning" EEEEBE, seems weird but I think I can see it in his solo.

  • That may very well be it... The Captain does so many different things ;)

  • EEEEBE

  • My mom used to sing this song to me when i was a kid. Now, every time I hear it on the radio, I won't get out of the car until it's over.

  • I love to hear about your generation learning about the great music we had. Our daughter - 39 - loves this song too!!...and the band... Me, I am a Stills nut!

  • hey do they copy a cuban song if so whats the songs name..when they speak spanish

  • My 9 year old asks to hear CSN on a regular basis. She likes GOOD music ...The Hollies,CSN, CCR, most everything 80's, plus, The Diablo Swing Orchestra, Rasputina, and the "Repo! The Genetic Opera" soundtrack, which is just crazy fun!

  • I would give my left everything to play like him.

  • You'd need your left arm!!

  • And I never got why Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher got him to father their child. After watching his bio on BIO and learning and loving their music, I get it!

  • I HATE live music! But is so amazing!!! I think this the best version of this song that I have heard!

  • live music is amazing man

  • Double S still rips shit up on the guitar.

ps. This reminded me a bit of Toad at Cream's Royal Albert Hall show, nice solo section.

  • pomawg, thanks man, for sharing this.

  • My pleasure man, It has been fun to watch the critics of this video, CSN obviously like it enought to put out the DVD! I also think nost of the critics are much younger than you and I. Be well my friend, music is the way!

  • There is a DVD? Tell me more!!!

  • The Acoustic Concert DVD

    Warfield Theater

    San Francisco

    November 1991

    You are welcome!!!!

  • What the hell is Stephen saying at the end. Those aren't the original lyrics and unless I memorize it, I only know about 80 words in Espanol'. Laungisto piquito

  • so shut up! your 80 words are enough for you to know that you have limited knowledge.

  • Are you sure it isn't Esparanto?

  • Great song and great version. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

  • What an incredible version! Some really devastating talent there. Thanks for the posting.

    You are welcome!!!!

  • a little less bottom on the guitar, please.

  • Geeez , the bottom makes it

When you play Martin guitars that cost several thousand dollars you go for that sound

  • i was just going for a laugh. it's a remark that stills made while they were playing this song at woodstock.

  • Stephen in is fantastic form here, the guitar work is riveting! I love the tempo and drive in this. And in his solo the little flirtation with 'Carry On' (at 5:31), and how he chills the clapping tempo right down a few seconds later. The chords at 7:40 melt my heart every time. Every Time.

  • Thanks for putting this up. Great version. Great quality! And great Stills solo at the "intermission."
