  • You know what I hate about this serve? The ball too high, whenever I play with my friend, they keeping shooting me! :(

  • ehh, not using enough body, good try though.

  • superb

  • 2:35 he is like," Ball, get back here..." and the ball listens.

  • very good!

  • @ viszpi

do you use a butterfly timo boll tricarbon??

  • The more I watch your series the more I admire your casual but most effective teaching method. I thought I had lost the links but now I found it and mark them all with 5 stars.

I hope you'll have DVDs or other training products to help players to improve their games.

    Thanks,

    SongCon

  • my racket doesnt allow me doing sidespin servers calibra 07 stiga

  • Amazingly helpful video, with just the right repetitions and slow motion. Thanks a lot!

  • Beautiful.... No talking .. Only learning. I like your lessons. Respect from India.

  • as it is called the lyrics

  • icalessi: it's something of evanescance...

my problem is like on 1:53 i usually dont get it over the net :s, nice video :D

  • waht's the name of this music?

oh, you helped me very much!

  • WHATS THE SONG??????

  • TENKU BRADER

  • realy awsome!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome videos... thanks for uploading :)

  • These serves are back and back/side spin which many people do, pro or not pro, so what makes them Ma Lin's? o=

  • you have a huge-ass head

  • @frenchcalc And you have a huge-ass tongue

  • @ruffdj And you have a huge-ass vag

  • @frenchcalc

    thats very french of yours..

  • @ruffdj you're making this vid hard to masturbate too, bro.

  • im just 12 actually and kinda a fan of Table Tennis..I play for several occasions and i hope that I could learn this one! so cool...

  • I think you look like Juan Mata haha

  • why so serious after the serve? great vid thanks

  • how hard are you supposed to spin the ball because for me it doesn't go over the net or it goes to the other side of the table

  • @chetosbill Make sure you cut sideways across the ball. Lots of spin and limited forward motion.

  • It helps alot!

  • wats ur rating

  • good video hated the music though

  • i dont know why people are getting so exited with this serve but it just takes only a bit of practice, took me lyk minutes to figure out this serve. it took me longer to be able to control the lethal tomahawk

  • thanks! amazing!

  • 2 questions

do you use these serves in a real match ??

is this serve with shake hand grip as well as with penholder ??

  • Can someone help me out?

Whenever I try doing this serve, the ball ends up just bouncing to the right of the other side of the table. I'm using a cheap sportscraft racket right now. Should I use a different one for better spins?

  • Can someone help me out?

Whenever I try doing this serve, the ball ends up just bouncing to the right of the other side of the table.

  • @GrimMagma

It can be 'cause you are hitting the side of the ball not the bottom. Try to hit it "flatter" the bottom of the ball and with a linear followtrough or a bit upwards motion.

  • @GrimMagma Because of Sidespin

  • try zeropong.com for inexpensive good rackets-

some of the preassembled ones are $20-$50.

  • Great help dude

  • Are some of these serves hit inside the endline?

  • You remind me of Forest Gump

  • do you use this serve in a real match ??

  • BY far the best video with a great song... I mean the video and the background song synchronizes so accurately.

  • @jimidoors1

Thx, I's funny actually.... originally it had much better background sound before, however I had to change 'cause copyright issues... :S. I was lucky that I found something quite suitable sound at youtube's library...

    cheers

  • thats such a good serve, i use another serve because i'm only 10yrs old and its too hard for me

  • @Cathaydude dude at the age of ten tht might look lyk a good serve but 4 years later yr gonna know tht the serve isnt very effective, well it can be effective at times but u can only use it once in a while. once yr tall enough to flick then its not so effective anymore, unless u use the sidespin-backspin serve.

  • @broro100 i use backspin and the umm... i don't know what you call it but you simply try and hit the ball while you are trying to... never mind

  • @Cathaydude oh backspin? many beginners tend to serve with a chopping-like action, do you know kenta matsudaira? he's got a forehand serve which has a chopping action, its known as the tomahawk serve. its a good idea for beginners to develop a serve lyk his

  • @broro100 i know the chop hand serve as well and its quite good

  • @Cathaydude yea its a good serve for beginners to develop from, then try to do both side-spin and backspin serves from the chopping action. u might as well want to mix the spin so it becomes a side-spin-backspin serve. basically you should have 3-4 different serves from a similar action

  • @broro100 i will try

  • Which Rubber did you use in this Video? great Technique..

  • you sir are badass!

you think you could perhaps make a vid showing how paddle/rubber quality affects spin?

  • You are a manbeast! Best serve breakdown I've seen on youtube. Ausome. Thanks.

  • habe die selbe tt platte ^^

  • 2:35 he used the force haha

  • it works with any racket ? (butterfly)

  • i currently am using a cheap sportcraft xs and am looking for a better paddle. could anyone suggest any intermediate butterfly paddles that i could use that are between $20-$80? right now i am considering the Butterfly Arbalest, Butterfly Baselard, Butterfly Flail, Butterfly Ranseur, Butterfly Spatha, or Butterfly Trebuchet. can someone suggest a decent butterfly paddle? please respond.

  • @MrLUKZTER1995 A butterfly Yuki 2 is very good, it costs $65

  • @MrLUKZTER1995

if you can affor 80$ than I suggest go to a forum or any club and buy used equipment (a very common All+ or OFF- blade with commonly used rubbers) 'cause even a 6 month used competitive equipment is much better than a premade 60-80$ racket...

i.e: a primorac OFF- with sriver FX would cost about 120-140$ a new one, but a used one you can get around 80$...

  • @MrLUKZTER1995 I recomend the Killerspin jet 600 for an awesome tacky rubber for max spin, plus in your prics range. i have this paddle and it is the best ive used.

  • @MrLUKZTER1995 What about butterfly attack???

  • now i can beat those chums in school

  • i love this serve, i wanna try it soon

  • what is the song for this video?

  • @nightzz96

    " Imaginary " ... EvaneScence

  • This video is really usefull , thanks!

  • what type of racket would you recommend? I am thinking about buying a Killerspin RTC diamond TC

  • Cool. This serve is good.I usually do the Pendulum Serve.Gonna try this with my new DHS 4002 Hurricane III+G888.What is better?DHS Hurricane III or Butterfly Tenergy 05?Thanks

  • Used this service yesterday in a very important game for the championship. It realy worked for me! No one was able to return this service. Thank you!

  • doesn't look like a primorac off- ........

  • it all seems the same xD

  • Does the paddle go from horizontal to upward diagonal with one motion when doing the basic Ma Lin serve?

  • What blade and rubber do you use?

  • i love to see the balls stick like flies on the net :D

  • nice video... no talking unnecessarily.. step by step and to the point... good one!

  • you should make a video all about the sideback, cuz i can't get it from what little you showed us of it

  • i have to buy a new racket mine just costs 3 dollars hahahahhahahaha

  • thumbs up if this video is the one wich teach you well

  • omg no wonder the ball goes just right. he stairs it down.... o.0

  • @thingsyoualreadyknow good one =D

  • Thanks to this Serve

FINALLY I win My Friendss xDD

  • 2:58 I love that move man

  • dude when i try it i can't seem to get the ball to come back to me. any tips on how to get a lot of spin, by the way i use Donic Coppa JO Gold.

Thanks man, your vids are awesome!

  • Sick man thanks a lot

  • Very good serves to practice. Just one minor problem: All of your serves are illegal. The ball has to be tossed from a flat palm, not a cupped hand.

  • Your stare pierces my soul... 3:52

  • i did but it didnt reach the net Ma lin's one was like much more back spin the gap between the 1st bounce n 2nd bounce behind the net is longer. What should i do :(

  • Fantastic videos keep it us.

  • how do you control the heigth of the hit? every time i do it it goes quite high... cant figure out why

  • dude sweet moves, but what's with the creepy stare

  • nice tutorial but every time i try this move it mostly turns into a side spin why is this

  • Viszpi can i ask you why when i try to serve a back spin it some how turn out to be a side spin can u tell me wad is wrong?

  • Thumbs up if you love the soundtrack!

  • hey man, what kind of rubbers i need to archieve that spin... it seems that you arent trying too hard and the ball gets a lot of spin....

    nice vid btw

  • Viszpi, Whenever i try to do that serve i always hit the ball to high, giving my opponent a chance to slam. Please tell me how i can make the ball go lower when i serve it like that. Thanks very much!

  • really helpfull thnx

  • dude you resemble andy roddick

  • a little risky to compare your serves with Ma Lin's...but you did a nice job, this is a great video to learn the basics of table tennis serves...

if you let me, i'll give you a short tip: in another video, show also where the ball must hit the racket to add more or less spin (back, side or both spins), 'cause that makes a huge difference, you have to know it 'cause it seems you have great technique...

    greetings from chile :)

  • @darkblue84 Please do make a vid about that! Also, whenever i try to do that serve i always hit the ball to high, giving my opponent a chance to slam. Please tell me how i can make the ball go lower when i serve it like that. Thanks very much!

  • @alandmaulod Hi!! look, it's a little hard to explain that in a comment list jajajaj...but follow step by step the advices of viszpi....first of all, you have to get used to your equipment...a lot!! and then loose your racket, 'cause if you grabb it to hard, there's no way to do a short and low serve...

also, try to hit the ball the lowest high you can....never higher than the elbow 'cause if you do that there's almost imposibble to do a low serve. but, that brings us a problem....

  • the lower you hit the ball, there is more chances to make a long serve, so the objective of the serve is to make one with 2 bounces on the oponnent's side, one near the net and the other just in the bottom line to trick your oponnent and make him think there comes a long serve. He should try to make a top or loop and in the last moment he'll enter the table to pass the ball with a drop shot (who almost never keeps short) and then you can attack the third ball first...

i hope this was helpfull :)

  • @darkblue84 Wow.... Thanks so much!!! You really made my day! =D

By the way, im still a 12 year old child and i look at these serves to learn how to beat my dad(he's kinda good). I've played table tennis for about a year and a half, and i've had the same bat for one year. Is that enough getting used to the equipment? Once again, thanks for giving me all the information!!! =D

    Thanks!

  • good.. :] i've got Yasaka Rakza 7 and it got more spin than tenergy... this serve is spectacular in me ;] Thanks !

  • excellent video.

  • Excellent - RAVELS BALERO-WOULD BE GOOD TOO

  • Excellent

  • oh wow!!!Thank you for teaching us!!! i am going to practise tonight!!!

  • ty bro

    ur awesome

  • @Viszpi np

  • @Viszpi

u dunno y but whenever i try to serve back spin it kind of turns out to be a side spin can any one tell me how?

  • @MrNOOBOZ

Try hitting only the "bottom" of the ball with racket aiming horizontally, that should make only backspin. The reason of getting sidespin can be caused by wrong rakcet angle, wrong hitting point at the ball, or wrong followtrough way (wrist and arm movement). I hope it helps...

  • @MrNOOBOZ most likely your not flicking your wrist up enough, its a challenging serve

  • @Viszpi

sorry , im just a beginner ... please tell me which kind of this red rubber?

  • Awesome!!! great tips......thanks for vid

  • Comment removed

  • good serve but it could be flicked very easily

  • Hey very nice video...:))

How much time did u spend it to learn that?

  • @Dejan3111

To achieve a good serve I think you need to serve at least 3-6000 times from each one..

  • @Viszpi Yeah Yeah i know....i've tryed it but its so hard to manage that much backspin...Well i'll be practicing....thx..

  • you look like Ryan Giggs

  • @boapu

    LOL

  • Dude Can?? You Do a Video Of Review of Tenergy 05 fx? If u can or Pimple Rubber

  • Great tutorial!

  • good serves

  • The fact that you are using a shakehand grip makes learning a Ma Lin serve pointless. You're in fact just copying his Ghost serve. That service can be done in any grip. Ma Lin's serves are specifically trained for the Chinese Penholder. He also rarely uses Tenergy :P

The Tenergy is probably an added bonus to serving with that much spin.

  • @LookB3hindU He uses Chinese rubber from DHS Skyline 2 (Black in color) in competitions on front and Butterfly Bryce or Sriver on the back as we saw. He uses Yasaka blade: YEO or soft carbon. DHS is even more spinner than Butterfly.

  • @samsonwtl I was referring to the video guy not Ma Lin. DHS Skyline I believe has the same spin as Tenergy. It's got a harder feel than Tenergy though from what I've felt and heard from others blades. I heard that sometimes he'll use the Sriver FX topsheet with a bryce sponge or vice versa with the Bryce Speed top sheet and the sriver sponge. It's what Wang Hao also does.

  • in my work there is a boss that I can not win in ping pong. I need a technique to win. I'm just an amateur, and just play for fun. BUT I NEED TO WIIIIIN, TO CELEBRATE IN HIS FACE.

  • not only 'ma lin serves' but 'werner schlager serves' as well

  • the video includes specific steps to make the serve, it's pretty nice! And the slow motion details each step, which is fantastically awesome.

But this kind of serve really needs time to get used to, and lots of practice.

    Good job :)

  • Is it possible to serve like this with cheap recreational paddles(like $10 ones?) Not exactly like this of course, but at least 70% of the spin?

  • Great job!

  • i heard my friend say tat there is loop drive and sidespin loop do u know?can u show us?

  • Excellent video. Learned so much. Thank you!! There are more videos I hope??

  • very good

  • whered u get the really cool saddle and nice vid

  • nice guide, will try it out the next time =)

  • Really cool! Thanks for this video :)

  • thank you for the tipss

  • how do u serve the ball in the other direction with the same wrist movements and same position?

  • where u buy separate rubber from?Internet or Shop?

  • hey man im playing pingpong for 5 months and i can already do this serve! really hard to master but worth the effort!

  • Is it better using the red site for this serve? Usually the most play with black as forehand..

  • @TMTurbomasteRTM You can serve with both red and black hehe:D the rubber are same just different colour, or some say that the black site are a little more sticky.

  • sir, which rubber and blade do you have?

  • @fanoffarmville

Primorac Off- and Tenergy 05 on both sides...

  • @Viszpi lol expansive but sick setup xD im getting a Mizutani Jun with FH TO5 and BH TO5 Fx

  • @Viszpi

    tenergy is good?

  • I have Timo Boll Spirit and Tenergy 05 on both sides.

I can` t stop watching this video. This is a perfection !! Great job. How much time does you learning this?? Sorry about bad english.

  • nice serves i think.

  • u use arm or wrist to push the ball?

  • @raginghades

I would say you use all your body :) But mostly you arm and wrist, and you can vary it all the way you want...

  • @Viszpi thank for replying and thank for the tip,ty

  • @Viszpi

plz make more serving tutorials and of new advanced triacks too

  • @raginghades

to be good at table tennis you must use your whole body to your advantage
