  • Love it! Beautiful vid.....intertwines perfectly with this Great Trower Masterpiece. Thanks. : )

  • "Arrival" is cool..'that when you have...Arrived! REPLAY!...(but that we're not just playing this song again!) 0:35 The Singer The Song The Lyric The Candy..MAN!..Rock n Roll!

  • reminds me of my many youthful wanderings through American cities--mainly Chicago in the late 80's--

  • 1977 THE BEST

  • absolutely one of my favorite tracks from Trower, as usual a haunting melody and lyrics, kind of music I call "headphones only", many a night I would pull out Trower albums and listen to several tracks from each one, always including this one, Smile, Somebody Calling and Bluebird.

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO Yes .... "In City Dreams" is one of my very favorites, as well. The combination of Trower & Dewar is the epitome of harmonic resonance, as it were. I venture to say that I've not heard a more ideal partnering of guitar & vocal; before or since these two. I was going through my "Favorites" list, and had to pull this one up just now - and was listening to it through my headphones - as I read the comment you left, and felt compelled to respond to it!

  • Love this song, thanks

  • James Dewar made this song what it is..... ok, Trower throwing down some great licks too.

  • @jeff1surfs Good observation regarding Dewar's role in this song and the who album. Trower great just as in Procol Harem.

  • One of my favorites from this incredible guitarist. Love his sound. But then again, i'm a diehard Hendrix fan....so i guess it goes hand in hand!

  • that lovely model..if I were in her mind she'd BE hostile..-you queen of queens!-...If I were saying..I Love You.you're a Princess of Peace!..In City Dreams..Way Truely excellent! Yes Bolero!

  • I saw Robin play a few times in Columbus, but unfortunately I am too young to have ever seen James, which is depressing, because he is my favorite singer of all time

  • Magical tune! I'm so bummed that I've never seen Robin Trower live. Even if I do, James Dewar won't be there. It just won't be the real thing without him.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN: Yes, but you should still see the legend himself - while he's alive. You'll regret it if you don't. He tours every year - and while we can't see James Dewar anymore, we get to see Robin "up close & personal" because he plays clubs now.

  • @tripfunkmonster, You're right, of course. I will definitely see him if I get the chance, especially in a club setting.

  • IF I HAD A DOOBIE I'D FIRE IT UP FOR THIS

  • (what's he say)..play it again?..Sweetheart!!!

  • DEAR WHINERS: GET OVER IT. AT LEAST glen922 TOOK THE TROUBLE TO UPLOAD IT. I RESPECT TROWER BECAUSE , DESPITE THE CRITICS, HE WAS TOO RESPECTFUL TO SETTLE FOR BEING A SO-CALLED RETREAD.

  • good video to trip on

  • God bless you, James Dewar. What else can I say?

  • and sadly, so many rock critics could not hear what he played, instead, preferring to call him a white hendrix wanna be.

  • One of my favorite Robin Trower songs.

Very poetic, very melodic, very powerful.

    Thank you for posting.

  • I saw this tour at the old Spectrum in Philly that just got knocked down. great show that I will always remember and cherish

  • So Beautiful...Should there ever be..The Embassy of I Am Music! Robin Trower!...authorization 12 10B 45 A 66..just kidding..it's Fox! Rock's Czar!

  • One does wonder why Trower never got the recognition he so deserves as a guitarist. Very unique, very talented.

  • James voice was a perfect fit with Robin

    RIP James

  • Trower and Dewar didn't just make music. They made magic. *RIP, beautiful Jimmy D. You gave us so much.*

  • JAMES DEWAR LIVES ON FOR EVER

  • Musiclovers:

Can we try to elevate the dialog? It is such a pretty song. Trower did a lot of things right, and for that he will always have my respect. Peace.

  • Atmospheric. Glad to discuss Trower's contributions with interested parties.

  • Trower may have done some riffs, but he managed to capture his own sound, relative to what Jimi referred to as "sound paintings". i find him more respectful and tasteful than many of those who merely thought by playing Jimi note for note would take us on the path Jimi aspired to.Peace.

  • love this album. was in the clearance bin at the record store for 50 cents.

  • awsome song nice work on the video

  • 24k gold They dont make em like this anymore!MMMMM Yummy

  • I slip into a dreamy state... x

  • Music; His; MY Driver of this DREAM!..Wanted: Robin Trower!

  • you know, this song is just flat out beautiful.

It's the perfect urban ballad. absolutely perfect vibe and thematically the lyrics just drip from the melody and the rhythm like rain falling in the CITY.

  • Look at some old Procol Harum you'll see Robin

  • My favourite Trower band song. rip dad x

  • @daiseytree This and sweet wine of love are two of my favorite mellower trower tunes. Hell of a singer, Robin was lucky to have him.

  • @StevieReaRea Mine to Stevie, just cant get enough of this song, I also love "somebody calling" brilliant. Lisa.

  • Wowser.....! All the nights I sat in a "65 Chevy in the late 70's grooving to this.....on a country road in the middle of nowhere, laughing and loving and thinking time was standing still... but it wasn't. Funny how a few notes take you back..... Actually one of the incredible things about music. No one can take THAT away. Thanks YOU TUBE!

  • absolutely one of the most beautiful lyrics for an urban power blues ballad.

    man, talk about being transported,...

thanx so much for posting this.

the poetry and the singing voice are just,....fricking killer.

"the city burns from red to amber, a sidewalk circus floating by, a crowd of bright eyed empty faces,..."

I mean really, is this one of the best. I guarantee Chris Cornell knows this one by heart.

  • My fav song of all time. My Dad and I shared this love until he died. He waited in an alley in Boston to buy me and my friends tix in a $600 suit among the rock-grunge. He wouldn't join us at the show and he regretted it, but he LOVED James Dewar...an old jazz, blues guy (my Dad) from the 40's....I miss James so much...

  • the late great jimmy dewar on vocals. RIP

  • This is still a cool song!!

  • ke grande es,penetra y sekeda hay,la gratitud del sonido,y de las cosas bien hechas,oh imaginacion cuanto me haces sentir...

  • navegando y las olas no me hacen daño...

  • This song reminds me of 1977 college days and me having the hots for a cutie named Pattie....

  • did u ask her out? :-)

  • Nope. What a cutie she was though, in high school, she was homecoming queen. Her boyfriend was a baseball jock.

I just enjoyed her from afar.

    Prolly shoulda asked anyway, yeah?

  • in hindsight yes, though im sure you turned out just fine without her. she's prolly some fat skank now. lol

  • Spell-binding....Robin, James and Reg/Bill ALWAYS bring back great, great memories. Thanks for this.

  • I was never a huge Trower fan but there are a few that stir my soul. Those days were so different. I was content lying on the floor memorizing words to all my favorite songs. looking at the pictures, daydreaming. Kids today don't know what there missing. Moved to Az. and no one was listening to what we listened to in Calif. I felt like such an oddball. Really I felt the kids in Az. were oddballs. KOME and KSJO were our stations up North. You tube takes me back Cali Girl 420

  • i bought this album in 8th grade, too, through columbia house record club.. i was interested in developing my taste in music.. im sorry to all of the trower fans out there, but 30 years later i still cant get into it.. still, its kind of cool to get transported back to 30 yrs ago briefly by listening to this and looking at the album cover in the video..

  • I bought this album in the 8th grade and man I had good taste even then. I'm 45 and still feel the passion. I think it might be in my attic still but well worn. So good to hear this great ole' stuff. will listen to Somebody calling next. Thanks for the memories. I want to dance. Cali Girl 420

  • brothers and sisters, this takes me back to a kinder, gentler time-the innocence we lived I agree with byrd1beverly-I weep because it is so beautiful....thanks for posting this

  • Cool slides. Thanks for this sight and sound. Peace, Slinger

  • great trower track, kind of sounds like a bolero

  • Great album even overlooked by some Trower fan's. Somebody calling, Farther on up the road, great tracks. Ah the good old day's.

  • So excellent..So Excellent!...a time when someone or something was drawing us up into a New Place...a dream coming Alive!...but now, come true?..Arrival aka!

  • I think we can all agree foxyroxstar...we all come to these Trower videos for the band and his talent. I won't even try to go through some of the comment's, but rest assured you won't find hardly one negative. It's true with most untouchable artists whose videos you can find here. Glorious Glorious Glorious.

  • ....the Gracious oppourtunity to further enjoy this song to play again, deeply paying attention to our lyrics here that they have shared With Us!..The GREATEST of Oppourtunities..a cool driver is a song!

  • ..enjoying the premise..the overview..the Step UP!....honestly, my high school best friend is suffering the loss/going through a divorce!..(but "I" say..a woman for HIM!..the model in this video..so Excellent!..0.54,2.38)..here's a name of a friend:.The Spirit in the name of the bride; Maye Alexis!).........-but he's not untouchable..(Robin Trower)...jus getting older like the rest of us!

  • Man we need some music like this again.

  • Thank you! I have the cassette but my player is broken :(

I was 17 when this came out. Feeling nostalgic...

  • One of my favorites from the great Robin Trower...thanks for posting...

  • this song changes key three times G#,A, and A# .............amazing

  • ...known as "modulation" - you've got a good ear..

  • Great song thanks for posting.

  • God,what a beautiful song.Haven't heard this in years,brings a tear to the eye.

  • doesnt that look like the girl that played in the mummy 2 ????????????

  • Yes, and In the first Mummy also (as Anck Su Namun), as well as Mind Hunters. She is the beautiful Patricia Velasquez.

  • @glen922 absolutely excellent!...one absolute woman!

  • Could this still be NOW where it isn't yet?.(but I held onto it back then as though something were inducting me up into somewhere/on ACID if I tried to say!)

  • In a word, Yes. It was already, but may not be in the future, unless we get it and pass it along.

  • to my ear,......this song is slammin'. i'm pushing 47 and feel 29 inside.

  • I think this may be the only song RT recorded using an acoustic guitar...just the gentle background rhythm. To me the song is a cross between Ravel's 'Bolero' and 'On Broadway' - the rhythm, the lyrics, and the constant upward key changes. I love how he makes the guitar squeal at the 3:57 mark!

  • Brilliant analysis! Whether or not it was the intent, Bolero certainly forms the core, and 'On Broadway' the skew.

  • @glen922 YES, A TRULY COOL COMBINATION, PLUS THE LYRICS ARE COOL, THOSE STREET LIGHT KIDS COULD STEAL YOUR SOUL AND SELL IT TO YOU ON THE CORNER, THIS GAME OF MAGICAL ILLUSION, THAT LEAVES YOU WONDERING IF YOU REALLY HAVE ARRIVED OR ONLY DREAMING

  • Worthy of The Title! Fox.Rock's Czar!

  • flamingocrazee,a cross between bolero and on broadway good call, that's what i hear, great song

  • @flamingocrazee then think again if you are old enough................w t f r.t. is acoutic in many

  • @flamingocrazee - You're right!

  • Nice choice on the two songs... although I think "Into Money" may be my personal favorite on this album. Robin sho' can wail on that guitar!!!!

  • oops! I posted this comment on the wrong video!! Hey glen922, if you get the chance and are so inclined, would you be so kind as to delete these two comments for me?? I would certainly appreciate it. thanks and take care!

  • Thanks glen

    great music

    nice imagery

    powerful images

  • I still have the original tape released in 1977 and it still sounds great just dont want to play it to much im afraid it will get ate up

  • I have the original vinyl. Don't touch it. Not sure where it is actually.

  • I bought the eight-track too in '77, sounded really good cruisin' in my '78 Trans Am . Oh well...those daze are gone. Thanks much for posting this song...Trower is still the man...few do it better.

  • This a powerful tune, RT's guitar simply hypnotizes me.....choice post!

  • Woops, sorry floridashorti,I meant to give you a thumbs-up.The whole album is fantastic.I like to listen to it in complete darkness,it takes me to a different place.

  • I heard that the gorgeous Ms.Velasquez is S.American Indian?

  • Sounds about right. Definitely gorgeous.

  • Gorgeous with a capital G.

  • Great song , great video - 5*

  • Pot is overrated, this song is underrated. My dad gave me this album for xmas 30 years ago, it's still a favorite.

  • yu kno music

  • This is a great song to share with the young stoners of today. They've never heard it before, most times, and they love it.

  • Speaking as an old/previous stoner, I am sure you're right.

  • Hughly underrated track and indeed album, as said it kinda sucks you in and makes you go all er "dreamy".

  • Exactly mike. It's a very dreamy song and album.

  • I remember being blown out on some great pot (dont smoke any more)and melting into the speakers. It still has that effect on me. WOW!!!

  • Me Too. And maybe a psychadelic night or two. I also don't do any of that anymore, but probably only because it's scary to be illegal; so alcohol, the corporate sponsored mind altering substance, sadly, is what remains.

  • I would love to do Patricia Velasquez to this song. Has a Ravels' Bolero type flavor to it. What a voice James had. What a shame he is no longer with us.

  • Agreed, on both counts. :)

  • LOVED HIM

  • lol welcome to my world

  • marvellous!!

  • what a trip down amnesia lane. I hate to admit what I was doing while this was playing or who I was doing it to!!

    Still a great song.

  • who is the model that shows through out the video?

  • That's Patricia Velasquez. You might remember her as Anck Su Namun, the Mummy's lover in 'The Mummy' and 'The Mummy Returns,' or Nicole in 'Mindhunters.'

  • ok thats where I remember her from, The Mummy Returns. Pretty .

  • Thank you....just awsome!

  • You're very welcome. I love RT, and this is one of his best. (Long Misty Days is his very best - check that out)

  • Sinuous tune and nice montage!

Trower's touch and Dewar's timbre are a magical unity.

    Thanks for this delicious vid.

  • You're welcome. Thank Trower.

  • I cried when he left Procul Harum... 2 grand pianos boxer style ,him on guitar, doing shine on brightly , life was like Herman Hesses Stepenwolf! ... God what a time..So glad I was there...

  • im realy amazed at the low hits on these vids its kind of a shame but maybe they need to stay low so some kid dont see them and think he can do a remake alot of these remakes make me want to puke that kid m&m realy bugs me i think if you dont have an imagination matbe you should not be in the business

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks thats the best!
