the window has no frame? wtf? that is so out dated... it was present mostly in the 80s and even then, in the lower spectrum of the market. Anyways, love vintage design and huge cars!
The early Ford Windstars didnt have glove boxes either due to the passenger airbags. While some cars in the early 90s that had passenger side airbags had a glove box, many didnt. I suppose it was where it was "new" to many cars then and they really didnt know how to incorporate it. The early 90s Town Cars and Fleetwoods had passenger bags, but still had a glove box.
These cars are bad ass especialy for there time I had a 95 (last year before millinea) and it was great fast with four passangers and you could drift this thing like it was on rails they make great vip style rides too
Kyle I'm a huge fan of your channel. I recently purchased one of these with 225,000 miles on it, and its in nearly mint condition. So I go on Youtube to see if by chance SaabKyle has one of these.. and sure enough, I find it under your Mazda playlist! Great job
So glad to have one in my driveway. :) It's such a phenomenal car, and is loaded with so much tech! Hell, mine has the optional solar panel roof, heated seats and 12 speaker premium audio with an AUX. An AUX! Factory!!
@theGSi16valve well from all the old top gear episodes i watch, im a retro junkie i admit, GSI usually refer's to a trim specification on UK spec cars, GSI, SLI, I, etc.....
Kyle, I'm going to open a FANCLUB here in GREECE for you. A Camry and the 929 together? Do you wanna kill me?
I simply loooooooooooooooooove these old japanese luxury cars! Thank you so much.
PS: Might add the 929 looks like a true spaceship. European cars are usually small, so once I saw a 929 between Fiats and Seats in Italy, it was like a whole iron continent moving.
@DerAdventurer Also its interesting to observ the 929 had, as an option, the Sunroof with solar panels that would keep the fan and A/C working even after engine had been turned off. Quite a feature.
Great looking car! You always have to imagine what cars you used to see on the roads back in 1992 when the 929 was introduced, or what vehicle it replaced. I think Bajabusta also got a Motorweek review on his channel. Really nice car, especially in this condition. And I think a rare sight as well.
Uhm... very interessting car.. much confortable and very big.. also this car has a good engine.. I also wish Mazda starts to built another luxury car like this
Interesting fact I read about this car. The 5th generation 929 (this car here) was Mazda's attempt at entering the luxury car market to compete with Lexus and Infiniti. It was suppose to begin Mazda's luxury division known as Amati which never came into fruition due to financial problems.
in some ways the 929 resembles a cross between a First Generation Infiniti Q45 and Lexus LS 400....the general shape of the car reminds me of an LS,just abit more rounded, the rear pillars definetly look similar to the Lexus, the Driver oriented dash looks like the wraparound dash in the First Gen Q45 Sort of.
overall it looks like a very capable luxury car, maybe one day mazda will introduce the Amati Brand.
Personally I don't like Mazdas, but this car is a real testament to them. Yes it has low mileage but even still it has held up remarkably well. Would have been a really nice car back in 1993, still very modern in comparison to some of the garbage being sold back then. The interior is awesome.
in a few years or less, on the news, Today in top stories, a guy named kyle who has a youtube channel has made a review of every single car in the world from the time cars were invented until the newest car now.
@DrJohnBecker A phone like that wouldn't work since it uses Analog service. Phone companies basically only offer Digital service, so you couldn't get it to work even if you tried.
This car is so beautiful, it could pass for a Lexus of the time easily. It reminds me of a sedan version of the SC300/400. That interior really shows its Amati roots. I don't think Mazda had ever done an interior that nice before, and they certainly haven't since.
Hey Kyle... could yo please explain some of your more unusual words for non american/englsih people like myself... like make a video where you explain exactly what you mean by manual-full auto driverseat.... and when you say it's driver site automatic window.. is it only the window at the driver or also on the other side... further more i looks like on most of them all the 4 windows are automatic... now i can't really come up with anything else but the "slang" you use... thx for the vids btw
@godoflolness I can actually explain this to you. When he said "full-automatic driver seat", he meant that all of the controls of the seat are automatic. When he said "automatic driver-side window", he meant that the driver-side window can go all the way down automatically without having to hold the button. All of the windows are still power, but only the driver-side window can go down all the way without having to hold it.
Thanks Kyle for uncovering and showing this gem. It is a rare bird indeed, even in its time, let alone nowadays. The vehicle's low mileage and pristine condition make me speculate that it was owned by an established retired or semi-retired person, who kept it in his garage and pampered it throughout these times.
what a great car for its time ! The lack of glovebox is kinda odd , especially when in its place is perturbing dash padding. Although as someone who used to have a Ford KA thats not a big worry. I'm surprised that one of the viewers knew about the proposed "Amati" line that never materialized. Very good. I will tell you this though, I have always wanted one of these cars ever since I first saw one. All the ones I have seen were torn up so badly it would've taken too much money to bring them back. I would imagine that they would bring a fair price for their exclusive status now. Too bad, this is a nice example of a forgotten car.
You can tell this car was "inspired" by Jaguar, but I'd take this over a Jaguar. Mazda should make a modern version. I miss the look of 90's Japanese luxury cars like the Mazda 929, the Lexus ES, and the Infiniti J30 had.
Little known fact, no glove box is what killed off the 929... while generally well recieved by certain parts of the world, those living in warmer climates. Potential buyers who lived in colder and more harsh environments had no place to store their glvoes and thus refused to lay down the money.
Mazda has since learned from their mistake and now offers one of Japans largest glove box in regards to cabin size of all Asian manufacturers.
I like this car. Interior and exterior styling seem pretty ahead of their time for an early 90s car. My uncle's got a 1995 model and it's still running strong!
i do prefer the older cars SK. I really like this 929, and would own it in a heartbeat. Althought the dealer installed wood package is a bit tacky.Did not, however know they had leather like material applied to the lower dash. Very ahead of its time. these are very hard to find!
@awin123 my grandparents had both of those my grandpa had the 929 and my grandma had the 626 now my grandpa has a mazda 6 and my grandma has a millenia

This is the internet, it has to be true!

These cars always reminded me of pizza. Don't know why.

i know most people use cell phones nowadays but i wonder if those car phones could actually be operational at this point in time.

@achm3d I wish! Since this is an analog phone, you can't get service hooked up to it anymore. Analog service stopped in February 2008.
