I was just reading the forum of the Council of Ex-Muslims of Great Britain, who seem like a sensible bunch of people. People are just people and can get along well as long as they are not indoctrinated with intolerant ideas. I also think this young girl in this Youtube video is very cool - A Stranger in her own City. I know there are also many moderate Muslims who are kind and tolerant, but I believe that is more due to them than due to their religion and its books.
I hate the whole thing of people being accused of "Islamophobia" whenever they criticise Islam and them being told they are racist - criticising a religion has nothing to do with racism and there is nothing wrong with disliking an ideology. If I happened not to like Socialism or Existentialism and said so I wouldn't get accused of Socialismphobia or Existentialismphobia.
I think it is definitely a problem for people to take the writings and actions of someone from the 7th century who was far from being saintly as the supposedly perfect model for today. Morals move on - including our views on relations between men and women, sexuality, religious and racial tolerance, corporal and capital punishments etc. and I think it's a problem when these old books and alleged prophet are seen as the last word of what to follow and admire.
Well done on speaking out with your opinions. No religion has the right not to be criticised, and anyone who threatens violence to someone for just exercising their freedom of speech it is a criminal who is a danger to society. I was also totally open to Islam being a peaceful beautiful religion, but also, having read the Koran and parts of the hadith I see there is a lot of violence and intolerence mixed in with the good parts. So it is easy for violent people to justify their actions from it.

Ancient Rome and Greece gave most of the culture to Europe, though it is true Arabs helped preserved some of it in the Dark Ages. It is true also Arabs developed some useful ideas in areas like maths and architecture and chemistry and poetry. But it's a shame that flourishing culture didn't seem to really outlast the Middle Ages. What major contributions have there been in the last 700 years? Also, just because Arabs did some good stuff it doesn't mean it was thanks to Islam.'

The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit. I was just reading the forum of the Council of Ex-Muslims of Great Britain, who seem like a sensible bunch of people. People are just people and can get along well as long as they are not indoctrinated with intolerant ideas. I also think this young girl in this Youtube video is very cool - A Stranger in her own City. I know there are also many moderate Muslims who are kind and tolerant, but I believe that is more due to them than due to their religion and its books.

I think it is definitely a problem for people to take the writings and actions of someone from the 7th century who was far from being saintly as the supposedly perfect model for today. Morals move on - including our views on relations between men and women, sexuality, religious and racial tolerance, corporal and capital punishments etc. and I think it's a problem when these old books and alleged prophet are seen as the last word of what to follow and admire.

Ancient Rome and Greece gave most of the culture to Europe, though it is true Arabs helped preserved some of it in the Dark Ages. It is true also Arabs developed some useful ideas in areas like maths and architecture and chemistry and poetry. But it's a shame that flourishing culture didn't seem to really outlast the Middle Ages. What major contributions have there been in the last 700 years? 9/11 conspiracy theory is just a myth...No demolition in history ever had steel glow for weeks The amount of thermite needed to collapse the tower would have been massive. (Tons) Impossible to hide. US government would have needed thousands (Air traffic controllers/explosive experts) for the conspiracy story to be keep it a secret which is impossible !

None of the conspiracy "scholars" have passed a peer reviewed paper in a respected scientific journal saying the collapse of the towers was impossible. Many peer reviewed papers have been passed in respected scientific journals saying the towers collapsed from impact and fire alone. The conspiracy "scholars" are not structural engineers like Prof. Jones ,Prof. Judy Woods ,and Gordon Ross. Prof Jones own university call his hypothesis "very unreliable".

While I think it's nice for Prophet Mohammand to allow a slave to obtain his freedom, (at his master's discretion) it is tragic that Islam allows them to be enslaved in the first place. That's like robbing a bank and giving some of the money back to the bank, and thinking you did the right thing!
