In essence, it fits with the overall theme of the song of a cuckolded husband going insane and murdering his wife (also implied in "I won't die before you," "I promise you the end before the first light arrives," and the repeating verse changing from "open your blue eyes" to "closing your eyes").

@thepiperreason0 The story in its full form, the entire story of Caleb (Caleb, End of This Chapter, Don't Say a Word, and Juliet) tells the story of Caleb, after having been raised by an ass of a father, finally finds himself in love but when the love dies, he goes mentally unstable, capturing the woman, and attempts to have them die via poison together, but she tricks him and he dies alone. Sonata Arctica and their terrifying hidden stories :P

@SuperrSparky Guess Sparky forgot to mention one thing PM.. EVERY CD from Sonata Arctica are in a story wise. You can see it multiple ways. Indeed if you listen to caleb, end of this chapter, Don't say a word and Julliet you get a whole different story. But this in particulair along with the Silence and Winterhearts Guild cd are about "Dana" the girl mentioned in End of This Chapter. So is the entirety of Days of Grays. Though it also has alot to do with wolves and ravens:P

@Lelouch1991 Actually, the band themselves have mentioned that Caleb, TEoTC, Don't Say a Word and Juliet are supposed to be together. The songs have several features to them that support this, such as the whole theme of insanity / love irradiating in the three latter songs. TEoTC, DSaW, and Juliet all make it clear that they loved eachother, but when it faded he wasn't able to let go. It's a common theme, and intentionally so. Caleb is different because it's a prologue, though. :P

DSaW seems to take place with her kidnapped or something along those lines, which makes sense following TEoTC. And with Juliet, he demonstrates a sense of control over her, which flows with the kidnapping thing. All of it has a certain timeframe flow to it, where each of the three non-prologue songs makes sense following after eachother.

I hate when they shorten the songs, this song is so good you WANT to hear it all! The only good part about the other version is the bridge, as they removed the creepy voice and used the "ashes to ashes... dust to dust" brilliantly.

this is arguably my favorite song. sonata isnt even my #1 band all around id say, but this song is just too amazing to deny. i love the longer version because yes-i dont want it to end. and the bridge is just cool. i like how they have crazy falsetto and then mix it with sweet bass vocals.
