You can get a similar reaction with an empty liquor bottle All you have to do is drink the booze, put the cap on, run the bottle under hot water for about 5 minutes, take the cap off and put some kind of flame above the bottle opening.
@kmncztms While alcohol does release alot of energy, it provides no more heat to the human body when consumed. The reason you feel warmer is because it causes your body to allow the blood to flow to the extremities rather than preserving it for the core so you feel warmer but your core-which is where all your vital organs are-is colder and it is more dangerous to drink alcohol in the cold.
U'll notice kiddies.. that experimenting DAN here .. knows that he cannot SEE - the firing gases .. and so - waves his unprotected HAND across the top .. just to check to see if it's out (happily it was - because he'd have sustained massively burnt skin- if it had STILL been firing...
wow thas kinda dangerous, do you have chuildren cuz u might be teaching them how to burn your house down, your an irrisponsible parent! im calling the authorities to take your chilkdren away and give them to responsible parents! you knbow what? il adopt them! i want to adopt your children and keep them safe from you irrisponsibe parents!
Yes, like eduardodc3 said, "96% alcohol works good!" I fully agree to this statement, well, opinion. I have a question to whom can answer this. I filled "warm" water in a bowl, about 2 to 3 inches high, while having 1 to 2 teaspoons of alcohol in a bottle. I shook the alcohol in the bottle, and set it in the bowl. I lit the tip of the cap, and it made a fast flash of flame. After, it vanished, quickly. My question is why didn't the rumbling of fuel occur? The first trial worked perfectly.
@AskTheGeeks Well, the point of the water is to cool both the container, and the fuel, so it can sustain the combustion process. I'm not sure, but I believe the colder the water, the better it would work. Try dry ice, salt, ice, and water. It'd get really cold, so it should sustain it for a long time
1st warm the glass "slightly" on the stove top. get it to where its warm to the touch. NOT TO HOT. that will prevent the sudden uneven heating of the jar. also helps to have it in a pan of water a few inches deep. that keeps the jar from overheating. a lil trial an error and you can have it running up to 3 minutes before it melts down. wear safety glasses "just in case"
i just use gasoline. and instead of shaking it (and lighting ur finger on fire from the gas residue), use an air compressor and blow air into the jar then light it. works better. mine went for a minute then broke like that. =)
suprisingly there are a lot of things you can use i used 50% rubbing achohol but it didnt work very well... you can use lighter fluid i think you can use gasoline also.
This is very interesting. I am concerned, however. There is the possibility that the jar could explode upon ignition and send glass fragments in every direction. The risk outweighs the reward in this case, I'm afraid.
That was awesome! Try setting the jar in a little container of water to help keep it cool so it doesn't explode... or don't. The explosion was pretty cool too.
you can use model fuel, which you can buy at any model shop, or iv also tried surgical spirit which also works, and you can also use a water botle with a sports drinking cap, which actualy makes the bottle fly like a rocket, i will try and get videos of this
hey, how big was your hole, in 'mm', 'drill size' anything. plz. and mine only ever seem to run for a few seconds before dying, anything you did to stop this. mant thanks. all help appreciated.
if you noticed his ran a while and the glass broke so i would stick to the short ones b-cuz no break in glass (most the time)and i tried it and mine works fine with a shorter burn time
Cool! The best jelly jar pulse i have seen so far. It would have run for quite a bit longer if the jar had not shatterd from the heat. If only jelly jars were made of pyrex!!
someone in another video had the smart idea of using water as a make-shift radiator, and the jar didnt explode. it still could have, but if it did the water would stop flying fragments hehe.
either way, the biggest problem with these engines is that they overheat too fast without radiators.
a liquid rocket has on-board oxygen and fuel...i dont see how you could think liquid rocket...obviously its taking in oxygen from outside source...with the classic burping of a pulsejet...it ran for 16 seconds...see what im getting at........
Sounds just like its burning very fast, and boiling, using both intyernal and external air, I hear no pulsing, no ba ba ba ba ba- thats a technical term- or ta ta ta ta ta!!
Technically it's a liquid fuel rocket, a Jet has to have an engine.

the reason it broke is because of the heat and there was a big hole so i doubt it would have exploded
