  • Technically it's a liquid fuel rocket, a Jet has to have an engine.

  • ???

  • Makes for a great prank :D

  • That's awesome can you show me how to build a Flux Capacitor.

  • "it took many attempts to get this right"

Frankly, it doesnt look like you got it right. but good show.

  • looks more like a molotov cocktail

  • Cool :D

  • at 0:51 it sounds like my fart in slow mo too...XD

  • You blow your engine

  • Jaraté.

  • You can get a similar reaction with an empty liquor bottle All you have to do is drink the booze, put the cap on, run the bottle under hot water for about 5 minutes, take the cap off and put some kind of flame above the bottle opening.

  • saw it coming

  • can you use a metal can instead of glass jar?

  • will that thing fly if i trew it in the air?

  • @prestatyn1 ur kidding right ?!?!?!

  • @quix4u. it isnt hot if you hold ur hand over it

  • how is this a pulse jet?

  • 1 man, 1 jar

  • @AgentQuinn

stop dont remind me that video, hahahaha

  • the fuel you used is very dangerous,

    But also very affective

  • do it in the dark next time

  • You mean fulse jet engine

  • will it work with denatured alcohol?

  • how long does it go for ?

  • wat zit er in dat ding

  • Just watchout! Theres a risk of the jar exploding.

  • does a bigger or smaller hole work better

  • will gasoline work?

  • even burning 1 cm3 of ethyl-alcohol makes the jar freaking hot, no wonder why people don't freeze if they drink it on a cold snowy day :)

  • @kmncztms While alcohol does release alot of energy, it provides no more heat to the human body when consumed. The reason you feel warmer is because it causes your body to allow the blood to flow to the extremities rather than preserving it for the core so you feel warmer but your core-which is where all your vital organs are-is colder and it is more dangerous to drink alcohol in the cold.

  • you fail

  • try the same thing in metal it maybe flyies

    (sry bad english)

  • I can never get these freakin' things to work for more than a couple seconds X,-(

  • @jag9998 bigger hole.

  • Thats a long fart :D

  • U'll notice kiddies.. that experimenting DAN here .. knows that he cannot SEE - the firing gases .. and so - waves his unprotected HAND across the top .. just to check to see if it's out (happily it was - because he'd have sustained massively burnt skin- if it had STILL been firing...

  • dude this would make for an awesome stun grenade, fire, then random noise, then an explosion and a huge fire, lol

  • /Beavis "Fire fire fire!"

  • Haha cool explosion.

  • fortuanly i have a slow mo setting on my phone (120fps) and it looks awesome! ill attach a vid as soon as i can :)

  • what did you light it with a dubbi

  • ka BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

  • should ahve put it in water

  • does it has to be a glass bottle? or can i use a plastic one to?

  • @bigbangAT Nah - just fill Ur bog pan & singe the hairs off ur //

  • wow thas kinda dangerous, do you have chuildren cuz u might be teaching them how to burn your house down, your an irrisponsible parent! im calling the authorities to take your chilkdren away and give them to responsible parents! you knbow what? il adopt them! i want to adopt your children and keep them safe from you irrisponsibe parents!

  • why does yours sounds different from the others on youtube, the others sound like farting, is it because of the fuel?

  • at :33 Um, time to eject from the Batmobile!

  • WHAT THE FUEL????

  • qe vobda peerras

  • Yes, like eduardodc3 said, "96% alcohol works good!" I fully agree to this statement, well, opinion. I have a question to whom can answer this. I filled "warm" water in a bowl, about 2 to 3 inches high, while having 1 to 2 teaspoons of alcohol in a bottle. I shook the alcohol in the bottle, and set it in the bowl. I lit the tip of the cap, and it made a fast flash of flame. After, it vanished, quickly. My question is why didn't the rumbling of fuel occur? The first trial worked perfectly.

    -ATG

  • @AskTheGeeks Well, the point of the water is to cool both the container, and the fuel, so it can sustain the combustion process. I'm not sure, but I believe the colder the water, the better it would work. Try dry ice, salt, ice, and water. It'd get really cold, so it should sustain it for a long time

  • Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

  • 1st warm the glass "slightly" on the stove top. get it to where its warm to the touch. NOT TO HOT. that will prevent the sudden uneven heating of the jar. also helps to have it in a pan of water a few inches deep. that keeps the jar from overheating. a lil trial an error and you can have it running up to 3 minutes before it melts down. wear safety glasses "just in case"

  • Why use the stovetop?? if you want it warm to the touch just run it under hot water first.

  • why not just fill it with black powder and lick up the alcohol before lighting the fuze... he he he

  • @buffloriders

Yeah Buff- here, hold ma beer and watch this! =) =D

Seriously- OP, thanks for posting this

  • i just use gasoline. and instead of shaking it (and lighting ur finger on fire from the gas residue), use an air compressor and blow air into the jar then light it. works better. mine went for a minute then broke like that. =)

  • use a bowl with water and put the jar in it so it cools down the jar!

  • did you use gas?

  • 96% alchohol works good!

You can make it you a plastic bottle horisontaly positioned... U will get a rochet!

  • I use after shave it works good

  • heat the glass first, this prefents thermal shock and keeps it in 1 peice

  • what are you using for fuel?

  • suprisingly there are a lot of things you can use i used 50% rubbing achohol but it didnt work very well... you can use lighter fluid i think you can use gasoline also.

  • will 80 % alchohol work any good?

  • yes it should work fine.

  • read description

  • you're very lucky the jar broke instead of exploding.

  • the reason it broke is because of the heat and there was a big hole so i doubt it would have exploded

  • but the heat and pressure variables can cause an explosive failure

  • It won't build up enough internal pressure to explode.

  • The Glass does not explode. But after a couple of uses deepening on the strength of the Jar it does shatter

  • i loved the failure of the jar the most XD lol..

  • That was a lot of fuel!

  • That is powerfull.

  • i like how you used a spliff

  • thats what i thought fo a sec

  • that fuckin sucks

  • You have heard about that poor bastard that got killed by the exploding lava lamp right?

  • but this aint know lava lamp, friend!

  • the best

  • xploded because no cooling ;) or not!

  • how are you did you get it to work because I will always like first ignition? what fuel are you using?

  • mine always crack at the base all the way round so the bottom falls of perfectly every time

  • hahaha mint i had a go an luck 4 me worked ok 1st time haha awesome

  • This is very interesting. I am concerned, however. There is the possibility that the jar could explode upon ignition and send glass fragments in every direction. The risk outweighs the reward in this case, I'm afraid.

  • This risk never outweighs the reward, fire and explosions are always the right choice

  • lol

    geobenne-you shouldnt play with fire

fire risks almost always outwiegh the reward

risks like these could easly be minimized

have a plate around it, ese eye, ear, fake pro

  • Nice, but too much fuel and you need the jar in water to cool it.

  • what if I use regular gasoline or diesel instead of that fuel???...lol

  • diesel probably wouldnt work, it needs alot of compression to be able to burn, and regular gasoline is highly explosive (not recommended)

  • you should stick that on top of a remot controll car

  • That was awesome! Try setting the jar in a little container of water to help keep it cool so it doesn't explode... or don't. The explosion was pretty cool too.

  • be a good prank on my teachers hehe

  • wow

  • shame they dont make heat proof jars

  • i use an emos ass as a propellent

  • BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • You should try a cooling jacket on the outside, maybe a bigger jar filled with water, then partially submerge this one inside :)

  • you almost blew your joint!

  • What will happen if you put the jar horizontaly? Will it move?

  • i made a little jar jet boat a few years ago it went like 3mph or less

  • @jolres well yes and no...... i tried it upright and it was fine then i did it horizontal and the jar exploded when i lit it

  • Whats the octane on that fuel? I want to go try it on avgas (100 octane) and see what happens. (with blowing my ass up of course)

  • your ass is an explosion

  • HAHA!!

  • its not an implosion... its an EXplosion

  • you can use model fuel, which you can buy at any model shop, or iv also tried surgical spirit which also works, and you can also use a water botle with a sports drinking cap, which actualy makes the bottle fly like a rocket, i will try and get videos of this

  • you should have made some airholes or sum like that. cuz that thing imploaded !

  • its nothing to do with that it cause the glass overheats :P

  • what fuelll>??>?

  • wot fuel did u use

  • read description

  • @stephenthepilot i tired 20 and 25% and nothing happen what % of nitro did u use?

  • i wonder how many pounds of force that made

  • lolol success

  • sweet

  • hey, how big was your hole, in 'mm', 'drill size' anything. plz. and mine only ever seem to run for a few seconds before dying, anything you did to stop this. mant thanks. all help appreciated.

    --Greg--

  • if you noticed his ran a while and the glass broke so i would stick to the short ones b-cuz no break in glass (most the time)and i tried it and mine works fine with a shorter burn time

  • next time lets hold it =P

  • it's good for burning your house to the ground xD

  • dude... it needs to be placed in water so it doesnt overheat

  • i know but its cool watching it explode

  • how hard that blows?

  • Don't try this at home kids lol.

  • wrong this is a great experiment.

  • oops, too late mate, sorry!

  • Cool! The best jelly jar pulse i have seen so far. It would have run for quite a bit longer if the jar had not shatterd from the heat. If only jelly jars were made of pyrex!!

  • jus put th jar in bowl of water and it wont break

  • Near the end during the last slowmo the white noise sounds just like the crowd in Excite Bike for NES.

  • Pause like right when it his 1:35 or a little bit into 1:35 and you'll see a falcon head in the flames... lol

  • wow, how can some people notice these things

  • soo hot..it melts ..

  • did you use gasoline?? if so u used tomuch and thts why ur jar broke it could not take tht much heat... 4/5

  • how do u get it to run for so long? mine only ran for about 5 seconds

  • Cool! Im brazilian and i work with plane jet engines! Can i use gasoline this experiment???

  • no it will explode think that is

  • yes you can i did this whit gasoline and workd just fine.

  • oh yeah ur real smart...put ur hand over teh hole....i can see it hand blown off...

  • can you use methelated spirits?

    ethenol, methanol ar alcahol?

  • you can use meths

  • thanx

  • Haha, when the glass breaks in the first slomo it sound like a old cowboy movie haha^^

  • does it have any thrust?

  • Yes, but oblivously a jam jar jet doesent provide too much of it.

  • what is the liquid?

  • read the description

  • looolll , il faut utiliser une bouteille en metal pour qu elle ne cede po sous la chaleur

  • english?

  • he said something about using a metal jar or zomething so it wont break at the end :)

  • yes

  • Wow!!!!

  • Heh heh heh, the jar was gracious in defeat.

  • one thirty six was awesome

  • thats why you set it in a pan of water.

  • its not stricty speaking a pulse jet is it

  • Too much fuel.

  • LOL! Its a good thing I am not flying anywhere on your airline!

  • HAHAHA nice 1

  • Is this considered a success??

  • that is just stupid-dangerous.

    shattering glass = no no.

someone in another video had the smart idea of using water as a make-shift radiator, and the jar didnt explode. it still could have, but if it did the water would stop flying fragments hehe.

either way, the biggest problem with these engines is that they overheat too fast without radiators.

  • poor jar

  • i was waiting when I saw half an inch of fuel on the bottom...

  • a higher bitrate camera mic would be nice for the slomo shot

  • Is it really a pulse engine? I would say more like a liquid rocket.

  • a liquid rocket has on-board oxygen and fuel...i dont see how you could think liquid rocket...obviously its taking in oxygen from outside source...with the classic burping of a pulsejet...it ran for 16 seconds...see what im getting at........

  • Sounds just like its burning very fast, and boiling, using both intyernal and external air, I hear no pulsing, no ba ba ba ba ba- thats a technical term- or ta ta ta ta ta!!

  • pulse jet:

    blows air and fuel (pulse)

creates vacuum in the process, and sucks in more air

repeats process at a high frequency, and sounds like a burp.

    "pulse jet"

  • dude! you have way too much fuel in it, all it takes is some to just cover the bottom

  • What happened on the first attempt where it just went 'whoosh' and didnt start? Whats the remedy cause thats what mine do

  • i blew air into it

  • Petrol explodes, nitromethane (rc fuel) is more like diesel

  • So cool...OO!!!

What fuel r u using? Can i use my RC fuel with 20% nitrometane?

  • yes
