Very cool! The only thing is that, if it's doable, I would experiment with the color palette so it doesn't look so gloomy. Maybe with the textures you could change the dark tones of outlines (such as between blocks) to some sort of vibrant pastel mix, like purples and pinks and reds. It would cheer it up. Still, this looks like fun to play!

It's good, but the level design needs a bit of work. There's too much stopping and starting. Those raised bits at the start where you need to jump up each individual step to get the power-up, and later on where you have to wait for a slow-moving lift, are just too slow and kill the momentum. Sonic's supposed to be about running really fast and being constantly in motion; the levels should be full of long open stretches and stuff like springboards to make you go faster.
