Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers are great bands, they are both amazing. They are very different yet very similar at the same time. I love both bands, I used to be just RHCP but Incubus is so similar and just as amazing I love both.

yes, I agree funk is limiting, but look at what the chili peppers did with funk, they combined their love of other genres of music including rock, punk, indie, and alternatice music. Straight up funk is limiting, but if you use funk-elements it can sound fresh. I'm not the biggest fan of what they've been doing lately to be honest, they don't sound anything like the old incubus. At least the peppers still sound definitely "pepper-ish"

well, you may not think so, but John Frusciante is a huge fan of Johnny Mar, one of the progenitors of the indie music. at least from where I'm standing, the sparse, melodic soling and playing John uses on by the way sounds indie to my ears, I could be wrong.

That being said, even flea says that the chili peppers have never been a band about trying to pigeon-hole or define their sound; rather they are an amalgamation of many different genres, many even within one song.

Not to be nit-picky or anything, but does it bother anyone else that this song is called psychopsilocybin and there is a pic of the Aminita Muscaria on the cover art? ^^; The aminita mushies dont even have psilocybin in them. They have Muscinol(sp?). A very different but still wildly potent hallucinogen. The song is still great, and I love Incubus to death. I just focus on odd details like this sometimes. ^^;

I'm sure they knew it was an amanita muscaria.. I knew it the second I saw it. The album is named "Fungus Amongus" in which the mushroom on the album cover fits the album name. The song just happens to be psychopsilocybin which would be psilocybin mushrooms of course, but not the name of the album.
