I am using a hp 701 right now. The seven inch screen is just too small. I have the xp edition. Sometimes the screen is confgured badly so some things show up off screen. The 4gb hard drive is just too small and it kept freezing etc when i try to use windows movie maker.
that's not just a 1.6 ghz processor. that's likely a DUAL CORE processor. windows xp home cannot use dual core, so it doesn't show up, but run linux or XP PRO, and BINGO!!! you've got two processors!
the atom has been a 1.6 dual core for almost a year now, but noone had ever made a big deal about it because a lot of the netbooks were selling with windows xp home, which couldn't use it..
That doesn't sound right to me somehow. I just got a really good deal on a hp mini so i suppose i could take the xp pro disk from my last laptop and install that on it and it would be faster? If what you say is true.
The right Shift key is awkwardly placed after the up arrow key, making it pretty much useless for touch-typists. Adding insult to injury, there is wasted, blank space between the up arrow button and the question mark key, where the Shift key should have been.
I saw the 900 series... I like the weight advantage it has over the 1000H. The biggest reason why I got it is because I wanted the biggest keyboard and also I want to be able to change out the hard drive.
From my understanding, the 901 has a nice quick solid state drive so you can't go wrong.
The 1000H, in my view, is the best. Reason why is because its incredibly easy to change out the hard drive and they make solid state hard drives in 2.5" forms that are all coming down in prices. It also happens to be the cheapest.
im sure you keep mixing up the model names?? like at 5:35 do you mean the 1000H is better to type on....

You can remap the keyboard so the up key becomes the shift

that's true. The cursor up would not be right above the cursor down though.
It's impossible to find the perfect computer, because each manufacturer has a few brain dead doofuses on staff...

more or less?. the 1000h is faster

the 1000h is faster than the 1000 in real life tests. The SSD has poor write speeds. Not to say that SSD is crap, just the 1000's SSD.
And good vid, even if you confused their names a lot!

701 may have a 900mhz CPU but its throttled down to 600, you can only hit 900 with third party software.

Do you refer to the 1000 as the 700 in this video a lot of the time? I thought the 700 was the smaller one?
Also, did you install the 2gb of RAM yourself? I thought 1gb was standard?

Microphone on the 701 is way better for skype. I've kept my 701 just for that purpose.

Battery life is amazing by the way.
