this was a nice little scene. It really shows the grandness of SHIELD, it's agents and it's operations. A few puny thieves with shotguns are nothing to a SHIELD agent, those guys deal with real supernatural world wide threat... they fight Hydra, they fight gods (loki), they fight aliens... and casually kick some random criminal's asses every now and then when their paths cross

Roxxon is an evil oil company that drills for oil no matter what the environmental consequences are. In the comics, Namor bought a subsidiary company called Oracle (the company's name appeared 2 times in iron man 2) to try and stop Roxxon from ruining the ec-system with their drilling.
