  • i actually dated that girl swinging her arms. i sent her this vid so maybe she'll get in touch with you lol

  • When I lived in Chapel Hill NC in the 90s they used to show this commercial on late night tv all the time. I wrote a song called Ghost Town In The Sky just because of this great commercial, it is on my 6th album called Song Cyclops Volume 2.

  • shhh I told my kids that I was the original "maggie valley girl"... and in turn every road trip we have ever taken they had to do the maggie valley dance on home videos .... its a family tradition now

  • @mistybickley You can continue toget away with your lie. She was my neice. She was killed by a drunk driver.

  • My friends and I used to laugh about the girl doing, as we called it, the "Maggie Valley Mile High" - Daniel Tosh - find this girl - she needs a web redemption

  • In the last 10 years or so, I have had about five people mention the crazy girl at the end of this commercial to me - completely out of the blue. She's, perhaps, the southeast's top unsung celebrity.

  • @Cindy7333 Holy Crap. I was just in the car telling my girlfriend about this commercial and saying how the girl at the end always would annoy the piss out of me as a kid when I saw it.

  • I think that is my wife when she was a kid.

  • Im so glad someone finally put this on here!

I hated that girl at the end swinging her arms. I have referenced her when talking about annoying people for over 20 years now.

    Thanks again!

  • @RoyMullins7 she was last seen skipping off the side of the mountain next to the red devil roller coaster. some witnesses who were present and armed were questioned, but released from the pokey when it was in agreement that she deserved it anyway. a posse was sent to find her, bet she was never seen again

  • @RoyMullins7 Thanks for hate. She's was my neice. She was killed by a drunk driver several years later. Nice comment

  • @RoyMullins7 Roy, take it easy, shes having fun, hahahahaha.

  • Wasn't there another commercial that aired for years in the Knoxville area? I think it used some of the footage from this one (particularly the gun fight) I remember it started with "Take the chairlift.. or the shuttle bus to Mile High Ghost Town in Maggie Valley, NC.. Ride the Red Devil roller coaster, the only one of it's kind in the world!"

    Anyone else remember this?

  • @johnnyb325

    Yes I do!

I know that "shuttle bus" was very old and crappy looking and that incline railroad could not have been functioning! No way! LOL

Such memories with this commercial, SO glad someone uploaded it! :)

Thank you for doing so! :)

  • @johnnyb325 Absolutely. Yeah WTF? I remember seeing it in the early 90's in Augusta, GA area.

  • @johnnyb325 I for sure remember this commercial. I remember that even at the time the Red Devil looked weak at best.

  • @johnnyb325 I do! And yeah, I remember the other commercial which mentioned the Red Devil roller coaster, as well as most of the same footage as this one featured. Sure wish someone would put that one up! I'll be eternally grateful if they did! I remember seeing that one (and this one, sometimes) every Saturday morning on ABC! Those were the good ole days! : )

  • @johnnyb325 YES I DO! I used to quote it all the time. "Ride the Red Devil roller coaster, the only one of it's kind...built on the top and side of a mile high mountain"

    Good times!!

  • @johnnyb325 I remember that commercial, too. In the commercial, it looked like the Red Devil was boring and moved slow around corners. These commercials are forever locked into my psyche.

The girl swinging her arms is like the "Black Dahlia" of western NC, everyone who watched TV in the 80's anf 90's remembers her!
