  • This song is from the soul of a man missing a woman. Ole Skool was about the lyrics. It was easy to identify with what they were singing about. The power to soothe was in the understanding just where they were coming from and just where they were trying to take you! Hang on, its been too long...No vulgar lyrics, no disrespectful names, just soulful moans and groans because it has been too long!

  • 5 dislikes......really?

  • What can i say this song really hits home no question asked. Especially if you know you let a good one get away, real talk .

  • why do ppl glorify old music this song is depressing and makes me feel sleepy

  • This my shit right here.

  • Pure classic. We're missing soul in the music nowadays. If you youngsters don't know where it's at it's right here. Get you some get right and lend your ear to what it's like to hear music that has a pulse.

  • the shit! They don't make music like this no more. Taking me back to them days when kicking it was worth kicking it you didn't have to worry about player hatin nigga at a party

  • Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy---this song just took me back to those blue-light-in-the basement parties!

  • Groups like New Birth, Earth, Wind & Fire and so many of that era kept it real, not to mention all the solo artists. That instruments and vocals were so intune with each other. Had spirituality and messages that weren't preachy or forced. Music today is missing that deepness that these performers put into their music...

  • I am orginally from Chicago. Nothing like the parties in the south Chicago projects. 89th & Burley

My big afro, bell bottoms pants, stack high heel shoes, and my John Shaft leather jacket. I was the Sh*t!!, or I thought I was. LOL

After my parents split, we moved to Muskegon Heights. I didn't know the Wilson brothers were from Muskegon. Does anybody know if they went to Heights or Muskegon? I went to Heights class of 1981.

  • @cengelbert1 Thats great!

  • "You know why- you know why!!!"

  • Can anyone upload the song "The Pain of Love" from this album. It is among one of my favorite song from this classic album.

  • Thank you very much for posting this classic cut!!! This brings back good memories;I'm definitely a 70's child!!! They don't make good music like this anymore.

  • I am so very excited to be going to the 70's Soul Jam on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Beacon Theatre in New York, New York!!! Blue Magic, the Dramatics, the Manhattans, New Birth and the Stylistics are performing!!! New Birth was such a gifted and talented group, I am a glow with anticipation! I am sure NEW BIRTH will rock it for sure...

  • @2phillysangel

How was the show? I see "philly" in your name. I graduated high school in Philly in 1975. Those groups were/are some of my favorites. Stylistics "Round 2" is a lifetime top 10 for me.

  • @ramaroodle I apologize for taking so long to respond to your question. I wasn't ignoring you, I was terribly preoccupied. My screen name, 2phillysangel is representative of Philadelphia, PA (where I thoroughly enjoyed my youth"! I was only eight yrs. old in 1975, however, I was elatecd to see New Birth perform. My husban'ds name is Phillip, and he really digs Phil Perry (Make up for lost time...)

  • this was one of the best Albums of the 70's every cut on this joint was smoking and the baddest one in my opinion was a jam call Pains of Love. It was never release by itself but that jam was a classic.

  • @gbabybailey - thanks for the response, it was helpful.

  • This is one of the baddest songs and bands around... then and now. They should be a house-hold name. Earth Wind and Fire had a glossy, uptown sound while New Birth was raw, soul funk. Love both bands.

  • I was a child barely 7 years old when this song came out. Today I am 43 yrs on my way to being 44 if the Lord says the same. This is the music I know and love thanks to my parents and living across the street from the juke joint.

  • who ever disliked this video should be grown up enough to not psuh the button

  • When they came to PGH. several yrs. back it was on and cracking! They sound soooooooo good and it was a great outdoor concert. i wasn't sure what to expect but was, pleasingly surprised.

  • I've spent half the day listening to oldies...hard to let it go. Been such a long time!

  • Wanna hear some real "soul singing"'? Listen from 4:25 to the end. Especially when he says "Oh my Gawd"

  • @emmettk Oh Lawd God!!! Yes, that is the part!!! LOL!!!

  • I would love to see this group live. I wonder why they don't perform.

  • I would love to see this group live. I wonder why they don't perform.

This song makes me all warm and lovey dovey inside, I start thinking about my fiancee and how this song relates to us, you for me and me for you its been too long!!!!

  • OMG, I was 16/7 then. Fell in love! Fell out. And that same man is now back in my life.

  • Soul music is the best kind of music. It really gets deep down inside of you like no other music can. I am not saying other styles of music is not good, but this music here becomes a part of you inside. Just a fact !

  • this is like....RAW SEX in the booth!

  • North, South, East, and West polars and coasts... it didn't matter the location.. New Birth affected us all.

  • Look here "rovingeye2" your eye is right on the prize, it don't get no better than this kind of music, thanks for the upload. And keep them coming.

  • My mother used to play the HELL out of this song when I was a kid...now I'm about to do the same on my mp3 player lol. Back then it was her old record player..times have changed but the quality of this song hasn't

  • I remember the first time I heard this song. I just joined the Air Force and was billeted with a room mate. After bedding down for the night, I heard this song playing. It took me a few minutes to realize my roomie was with a girl in the next bunk. I thought the song was making those realistic sounds. Of course I got up and slept on the couch in the Dayroom.

  • "Give me a little love, Give me a little love --awwww Lawd," Leslie had the REAL voice as did the rest of the group. Used to love this song as a young girl, used to get me going with the vocals, bass and everything else.

  • There's Where " Something For The People" get the beat for their song " My Love Is The Shhhhhh" Damn can't believe that I didn't pick up on that... SMDH!!!! But I still love this song...

  • I didnt know the correct name of this song ,but I did know Something For The People Sampled This.

  • Another great jam from my past gives me jitters in my stomach just listening to this I love it great memories!!!!

  • Another great tune by New Birth from our great past of soulful singers and musicians.

  • Man! I'm sitting here with a lump on my throat hearing this jam. I go back to the summer of 1974 and the house parties in my neighborhood in East Los Angeles and my childhood sweetheart and me dancing to this. I miss all the friends and family I had back then and all my old crew. Life goes by so fast and here I sit in my 50's. I was only 15 when this jam came out lowriding with my homeboys.

  • @OldMrMemories I feel you man. I got a birthday next week turning on the big 60. But you know what? Life does go fast but our memories are fresh, just like yesterday. And this music we find again on Youtube or have cataloged at home, can take us back to those times and people we forgot to think about at this time in life. That's the beauty of music. There's a song for every week of your life. All you have to do is remember the times and the people. And It's yesterday man! It's fresh!!

  • @gtpmmk "There's a song for every week of your life". I've never heard anything put better friend. On Friday nights after a hard week i sit on my balcony and play all my CD's from my old record collection which I had transfered to MP3 and pour me a few Jack Daniels on the rocks and enjoy the music of my life so much. In my later years I have found that to be more enjoyable than going out to any bars or clubs. the music they play these days ain't worth it.

    Peace my friend

    Tony

  • @OldMrMemories U sound just like my father..lol..On the weekends, He always sits in the basement at the bar playing (blastin) old school music and drinkin Crown Royal..LOL

  • this song is nice! It was a song that came out in the early 90s that sampled the instrumental to this song....i cant think of the name of it.

But i swear, almost all (99%) music from 90s and up are sampled from music in 60s, 70s, and 80s...and some even the 50s...
