I bought a tablet several years ago back when they were essentially laptops with a rotatable screen and stylus. I paid $500, have a keyboard, 3x the hard-drive space of the average tablet, 2x the processing power, 2x the memory, and am actually able to do work on it (let's be honest, tablets are for using apps and apps are basically useless for everything). When it's in laptop mode, I can type away inconspicuously on my computer.

The doctor knows very little about the computer and the network setup at the clinic, but I guarantee that he knows like 1000 times more than me when it comes to medical related topics.

When I used OSX, (Tiger Hackintosh) I felt creative and productive (could be an illusion, I didn't really do anything)
When I use Windows, I feel distracted by the internet and steam and pissed off when shit doesn't work.
When I used Linux, I only felt disappointed when shit didn't work instead of pissed (because I expect windows shit in windows, not linux) and I felt more like an artist/engineer when I used linux.
I think I should switch to OS/2, (ecomstation) less distracting.

Apple products are designed for dumbs, who want to do what they tell them to do, without using their brain, and paying more because shinny logo that makes you cooler.
I use a Mac and I am not dumb. I think when using a PC it should be as easy as possible, some Mac users find OSX easier to use then Windows, and Windows users find it easier to use then Mac OSX. It's just personal preference.

Well, I honestly like macs, a little bit at least. Though I am a loyal windows user. Macs just look nice and have good quality. Now just because they are more expensive, doesn't mean that you don't get what you pay for. Macs do run pretty fast, and are very organized. Now I have never owned a mac, but I have friends that DO and some "say" they hate them (though I know that they don't), and some love them.

I think the main reason there's so much bickering between Mac and Windows users is because Apple themselves started this war. For many years, rather than focusing on what a Mac can do, they focused on how bad they thought PCs were, like the infamous ads with "guy in suit" vs "stoner". They started well before that, though, showing what PC stood for including "Preposterously Complicated" and "Pretty Costly" - kind of ironic considering how much Macs cost now...

@ShadeCrenshaw none of both systems is by any means superior over the other. I've been to movie studios (in particular ILM and Pixar) and for some reason they use Macs. I have no idea why since they emulate 3DS Max and Cinema 4D on their OS X machines. Sony BMG studios and as well others (visited them as well) use Logic Pro (OS X only). On the other hand all brokers use Windows machines for monitoring. And hackers mainly use Linux.

Unless i have a MacPro i can't change the GPU. An intel cpu stays an intel cpu, either i7, i5 or xenon, same goes for RAM and a HDD.
And for the price: well you pay max. 1000$ for 500$ parts. And for running it smooth: that simply depends on your hardware and software. And surely it does not run 10000 times better but 10-15%

Some of these count more towards laptops, but I've seen laptops with amazing specs that can't use them because they overheat on 30% CPU usage.

Once upon a time I would have agreed about linux, but some distros like ubuntu are getting incredibly easy to use. Yes you can still do all the hacky stuff or you can just use it the way it's set up with the pre-installed software and install more from the software center. And for anyone that says 'yeh but i can't run my windows app on ubuntu'...no shit, you wouldn't run a windows installation on a mac either, der
I don't see how android is harder to use than iOS. Sure android allows for more tinkering but you don't have to tinker if you don't want, just use it like you would iOS, use the installed apps and browse the apps market for more, simple. So all I see when someone buys an iphone/ipad, is someone buying something that is only capable of doing less than it's competitors usually for more and equal money and that's what makes me say 'WTF'.

I had the same argument when photography went digital. When I was doing my degree, the film buffs were asking if I did digital because it was easier. I thought about and had to say 'Yes, I do.' I only have edit an image once, instead of trying to fix and create it in a darkroom over and over. And I undo things that dont work. I can make as many copies as I want, put it on placemats or make a t-shirt out of it or post it on the internet and it can be viewed the world over.
I have seen a research wich showed the average IQ for the users of different operating systems. However I have no source to provide since i can´t remember it but you could try googling it. The study showed that Linux users have an average IQ of 117, not that strange when you think about who uses Linux. Windows clocked in at 103 and mac at 101 so i guess mac and windowsusers are stupid. The most interesting part of the research was that 43% of the mac users were homosexual...

Hey i'm a mac user and I know this, The i7 2600 came out this year and supportes the socket 1155. You can fit it into a Z68 mobo or a P67 Mobo, or a h67 mobo. The intel core 2 duo and intel core 2 quad are socket 775 and the older CPU's used to run on a slot.
The single reason I moved to a Mac back in 2004 was that I was sick of the constant tweaking. Id rather spend my time making music rather than trying to get things running smooth.
Am I dumb?, no chance, i'd say the opposite given that I decided my time was money and my money was better off spent on a Mac.
Ive stuck with it because I love OSX and it saves me time + there would be no point learning a whole new OS + the fact I have OSX software.

When I used OSX, (Tiger Hackintosh) I felt creative and productive (could be an illusion, I didn't really do anything)
When I use Windows, I feel distracted by the internet and steam and pissed off when shit doesn't work.
When I used Linux, I only felt disappointed when shit didn't work instead of pissed (because I expect windows shit in windows, not linux) and I felt more like an artist/engineer when I used linux.
I think I should switch to OS/2, (ecomstation) less distracting.

Well, I honestly like macs, a little bit at least. Though I am a loyal windows user. Macs just look nice and have good quality. Now just because they are more expensive, doesn't mean that you don't get what you pay for. Macs do run pretty fast, and are very organized. Now I have never owned a mac, but I have friends that DO and some "say" they hate them (though I know that they don't), and some love them.

I think the main reason there's so much bickering between Mac and Windows users is because Apple themselves started this war. For many years, rather than focusing on what a Mac can do, they focused on how bad they thought PCs were, like the infamous ads with "guy in suit" vs "stoner". They started well before that, though, showing what PC stood for including "Preposterously Complicated" and "Pretty Costly" - kind of ironic considering how much Macs cost now...

@ShadeCrenshaw none of both systems is by any means superior over the other. I've been to movie studios (in particular ILM and Pixar) and for some reason they use Macs. I have no idea why since they emulate 3DS Max and Cinema 4D on their OS X machines. Sony BMG studios and as well others (visited them as well) use Logic Pro (OS X only). On the other hand all brokers use Windows machines for monitoring. And hackers mainly use Linux.

@bizzev i agree, you can customize a PC in terms of hardware. Now 10 times better parts is really exaggerated. I agree only in one point with you: GPU! No discussion here. Unless i have a MacPro i can't change the GPU. An intel cpu stays an intel cpu, either i7, i5 or xenon, same goes for RAM and a HDD.
And for the price: well you pay max. 1000$ for 500$ parts. And for running it smooth: that simply depends on your hardware and software. And surely it does not run 10000 times better but 10-15%

Hardware compliance (aka how well parts works with each other), ergonomic design, build quality, additional features, appeal, durability, not overheating, how loud it is. Some of these count more towards laptops, but I've seen laptops with amazing specs that can't use them because they overheat on 30% CPU usage.
Oh, and let's not forget that tiny detail: Operating System.

I don't see how android is harder to use than iOS. Sure android allows for more tinkering but you don't have to tinker if you don't want, just use it like you would iOS, use the installed apps and browse the apps market for more, simple. So all I see when someone buys an iphone/ipad, is someone buying something that is only capable of doing less than it's competitors usually for more and equal money and that's what makes me say 'WTF'.

@weaktech My Iphone couldn't have a background image because the icon animations wouldn't have worked, but why can't I set down their fps or if I used a low quality or single color background, it wouldn't matter. I know however why I can't, because then I'd have to do some settings that are more complicated, and there would be more complaints from people who didn't know anything about computers, and they are apples target group in designs. I had the same argument when photography went digital. When I was doing my degree, the film buffs were asking if I did digital because it was easier. I thought about and had to say 'Yes, I do.' I only have edit an image once, instead of trying to fix and create it in a darkroom over and over. And I undo things that dont work. I can make as many copies as I want, put it on placemats or make a t-shirt out of it or post it on the internet and it can be viewed the world over.

I have seen a research wich showed the average IQ for the users of different operating systems. However I have no source to provide since i can´t remember it but you could try googling it. The study showed that Linux users have an average IQ of 117, not that strange when you think about who uses Linux. Windows clocked in at 103 and mac at 101 so i guess mac and windowsusers are stupid. The most interesting part of the research was that 43% of the mac users were homosexual...

Hey i'm a mac user and I know this, The i7 2600 came out this year and supportes the socket 1155. You can fit it into a Z68 mobo or a P67 Mobo, or a h67 mobo. The intel core 2 duo and intel core 2 quad are socket 775 and the older CPU's used to run on a slot.

The single reason I moved to a Mac back in 2004 was that I was sick of the constant tweaking. Id rather spend my time making music rather than trying to get things running smooth.
Am I dumb?, no chance, i'd say the opposite given that I decided my time was money and my money was better off spent on a Mac.
Ive stuck with it because I love OSX and it saves me time + there would be no point learning a whole new OS + the fact I have OSX software.

@rigelagain It's true. I bought a Voodoo PC for $100 less than a mac book. Better processor, better support, better graphics, and it has a 3 year warranty. I had the manufacturer install Win 7 and FreeBSD (for those who are unfamiliar with BSD, it's the kernel you are using in OS X).
(OS X is basically a bling bling version of a free Unix)

People who buy Macs are stupid because they bought the idea that Macs are better. The fact is that, it's not. Better products depends on the consumers' taste. In Mac's case, it's all about bling bling. For Mac haters, it's about utility and smart spending.
I can afford to buy Mac, but I decided not to. There other products that cater to the way I use technology. I don't believe in bling bling when it comes to technology.

Yes, I just want to gets things done and not spend half the day fixing a glitch in the software. My friend has a modern windows machine he some times spends hours trying to do what I do on my mac in minutes. I could never use windows, it really is to frustrating trying to get it to work. Finding a file, just forget it.

Apple whole philosophy is to cater to Consume market. that mean simple, intuative and fullproof. I love their hardware, i have a MacBook Pro as my main laptop. I prefer Android over iPhone because it's thinner, lighter, and has language recognition (for over 2 years now).
