You will see things like the the mummy of Thutmose the 1st with coarse wooly hair in a 1930s published book by Sir W M Flinders Petrie (renowned Egyptologist of the day) . He's now bald. Or the coal black (always in art) grandmother of renowned Queen Hatshepsut.
pretty stealth geting 10 seconds of video in there,,,,,,,,they don't allow cameras in the tombs,,,,don't try it ,people, they will take yer camera away !
Hummmm, filthy isn't it?? Mr. Hawass , is that how you "preserve" YOUR patrimony??? It sure doesn't look pleasent to site, but here's my doubt , why is Tutankhamon the ony one who weares on his crown the Snake and the Eagle???Does it have anything to do with the Mayan?? Like the winged Serpent QUETZCOALT ???
This is beautiful. Tutankhamun's tomb was the smallest of the pharaohs' tombs. The heiroglyphs on the walls were done in a hurry. I made an Egyptian statue video with tons of Egyptian statues. People who look stuff up like this video look up Egyptian Statues under Tutankhamun844.
No offense, but you are NOT Tutankhamon, and you people assume too much, what do you really know about the 18th dynasty?? How do you know that's the REAL Tutankhamon's Tomb? Seti I ordered that the 18th dynasty was to be deleted, and so they were, no Nefertiti/Smenkhare 1 and the same, no Akhenaton, no Horemheb, no Ty, no TUY, NO ONE, and then Tutankhamon's tomb is there????? How weird, and he was to MURDERED, so, THINK with your head and tell me if this makes sense.
Ummm, no. His birth name was Tutankhaton but he changed it to Tutankhamun when he and Ankhsenamun changed the religion back to Amun Ra as the head god.
Thanks, I do know his real name was Tutankhaton, and then his wife Ankhsenaton changed name because of him and because of Aton the Sun God they were suppoise to well...worship...but why does he has on his crown the Eagle or Vulture I think it's a Vulture and the Snake?? No other Pharaoh has them, and he wasn't ruling Egypt Horemheb and Ty were.
suzbah. You may have had to leave your camera at the entrance to the tombs in the Kings Valley but if you visit the nobles tombs (on you own) and have plenty of small notes at hand (for the Qerna locals) you can take as many photographs as you like. IMHO the tomb of Rahmose is better than anything I saw in the VofK in 2006. Although nothing compares to the tomb of Seti I which I saw in 1983 which absolutely stunning.
When I was at Edfu way back in 1983 tourists were prohibited from taking videos in what was a completely outdoor situation. And yet I was able to take masses of photographs in the tombs of the Valley of the Kings on both my visits in '81 and '83. Inexplicble!!! As my EGYPTIAN tour guide said Egyptians only became interested in their history when they could make money from it. Very sad.
Good on you sarichmond. The prohibition on photos is just a ruse to get you to buy from the postcard sellers in the valley. What does real damage to the paintings in the tombs in the valley is hordes of heavy breathing sweaty tourists not the split second flash of a camera.
You can't take photos in the Red pyramid at Dahshur and there's no tomb paintings to harm there. What does that prove? Its just another example of paranoid bureaucracy that prevails in the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
i was there 3 days ago, you are not allowed to take photo or record video, before you enter the tomb you got to leave your cam. mummy of Tutankhamun is still there temporary, you have to pay extra to visit it.
THX!BUT...Is that Tutankhamun inside the tomb? He looks rather small. Anywayz, I want to know more of this history. It's pretty interesting on how he became king at the age of 9 and died at 18/19. So young.
hey hey if u go into king tut's tomb u will die this is not a spam or a joke i read a book about it and the founders howard carter and lord carnarvon died shortly after they entered the tomb. The curse is: SWIFT WINGS OF DEATH WILL COME TO WHOEVER ENTERS THE TOMB
Howard Carter discovered Tut-ankh-amun's tomb in 1922, he died in 1939. and in buried in Putney Vale. The curse is utter codswallop. I have visited the tomb many times and am still alive as I type. The curse idea does sell books though, and get the disinterested to watch TV documentaries.
this is true. howard carter was the first person to enter Tutkanhamen's tomb and died. he was so young.SWINGS OF DEATH WILL COME TO WHOEVER OPENS THIS SECRET BUIRIEL CHAMBER.

PS My (our) Egyptian guide said this when I went back there in 2006. He had a BA in Egyptology and of course made his living from tourism.
