@scott93256 your right man its nice to see what the camaro can do but honestly i think the third gen late model fbody camaro/ transam would have been a better fit. The fbodys had the ws6 and 700r4 which came in nice for course raceing.... I think the porsche would have had a harder time with a 3rd gen late model.
The anouncer obviously does not know too much about Camero's. That car is a beast.. DESTROYING the poor English jaguar's.. and smoking the FORDS.... and the Corvette which is pretty wicked.. great driver in the Camero.. really putting the hammer down!
There was 2 classes in Trans Am. 2.0L and under and 5.0L max displacement. And most American cars had to reduce there factory displacements to make 5.0L rules. The biggest difference between the Euro and American cars were there brakes for there weight. On the bigger straiter tracks the Euros got crushed. But on the tight little tracks they held there own.
Is this idiot for real? 350 hp on a good day? Vintage American Trans Am cars had 5 liters that made 500+hp all day long. I agree with lashss. This guy needs to go back to school. Typical...
The announcer needs to go to a library to research vintage Trans Am and then head to a racetrack to actually drive one of the old pony cars that are prepared properly. Most people will never give an unbiased opinion on anything...and even worse, they compare cars based on their street, production specification, which can sometimes mean very little with regards to how a full race car is setup. The Z and the 911 shown here are both formidable track machines.
Ohh, you missunterstood my post. I love GT Races and i com from Europe, Check out my channel, i made a lot of vids with pretty Cool Corvettes, BMW M1, Porsche and more...
Remember this, the porshes and other "Euro-trash" (very funny) have a 3 to 3.5 liter engine while the camaros and other muscle cars have something like 5.5 to 7 liters of power in them. Also, this is a vintage race, the drivers mightnot want to hurt their cars.
@caboose353 Yeah the vintage races are very rarely balls-out events. With a couple of exceptions that include guys with vast amounts of money for repairs, the owners of these cars are usually just out for a good time and don't want to risk damage.
Funny, I thought that only British cars could handle... Oh wait, thats only if your this stupid announcer. It's great when American muscle kicks the crap out of eruo-trash--all of the best races have been won, or have been led the most by some American car.
this made me laugh my ass off.

The announcer says the Camaro makes 350hp on a good day? Yeah sure.
BrianLawrence65 2 years ago
350 hp is reasonable for any small block chevy, really. look at my videos, we figure its got around 330 - 350 and we did that in our backyard..

why does this track seem so low speed? and short?
krulliko 3 years ago
It is short.
It's Mission Raceway in British Columbia. It's 1.2miles, good lap times are in the 1:15 range.
brucero70 3 years ago
I've never been there before. Thanks for the info.
krulliko 3 years ago
@krulliko Also, I dont think anyone really wants to trash their cars! So they take it easy

This Camaro is likely a 302 ~ 5.0 litre. The Porsche may have been able to catch up but he had a spin. It was a great battle though.
This years Historics is coming up on the first weekend of August. If I can attend, I hope to post some more videos.

Also remember that the "Euro-trash" way a LOT less than the muscle cars, even race prepped.

And sooo many people on this website think muscle cars can't turn. And this was a tiny track. The bigger the track, the better for the muscle car.
