So 1 video of your top half of your body going forward, another video of your bottom half, then the Guy actually slicing you/him in half. I think i get it, I was thinking about how to make this effect for my movie. So were the layers all videos, or did ya use Images.
I used videos, and your basically right. you have to set the camera on a tripod so it doesn't move at all, then you film the guy on the right slicing "nothing", then you film a spinning fall to simulte the top half, then you stand and fallback for the bottom half. you mask the 2 bodyhalf layers ontop of the slicing video and there ya go...
tyvm, Couldn't figure out best way to make the effect. I'm trying to make a lightsaber fight myself. I was going through youtube and looking at duels, (Yours awesome btw) And was like HOLY CRAP when i saw the slice because its just what i need.
If you need a good LS blade effect then go to videocopilot dot net and get andrew kramers plugin and tutorial for it. you may have actually gotten your effect from that but if you haven't, its the best.
Video Copilot Is my after effects bible, I Freakign love it. I actually manually made the lightsaber since i cant get the plugin working on CS3 (Some Error Pops up). Nice choreography btw.

no, i just used 3 layers and masked them in after effects to make the effect.
