  • we all died a little the day you passed away Marvin ...your memory and music is in our hearts forever Peace Love and Smiles wherever you may be

  • this has inspired me to edit a video like this of marvin gaye

  • listening to Marvin is a blessing. Such a beautiful soul.

  • oh god this is sad and touching. It's as if he knew before hand he'd die prematurely. He seemed like a cool, just normal person who obviously loved God.

  • Millions never, never, never, they won't never forget you, Marvin. At least i won't.

  • I feel bad for 22 people.

  • I love you Marvin...

  • the best

  • King of R&B/Soul period! :D

  • JEALOUSY IS A HELL OF SIN BOY, HOW CAN HE KILL HIS OWN SON ALL NOW SO WE WOULD OF HAD MORE GREAT MUSIC TO LISTEN TO :( RIP M.G KING OF SOUL ^_^

  • @kietdjvn168 - life is what you make it. fuck what people think. you came into this world alone, you goin die alone what happens in between is LIFE!! ...LOOK UP, GET UP, AND DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!

  • @kietdjvn168 Oh, God bless you sweetie, read Psalm 91, it will be alright. Don't let the devil defeat you.

  • @kietdjvn168

whatever the issue thats depressing you, learn from Marvin's Example that he definitely had serious personal issues & bouts but he knew God loved him & thats what gave him joy-the same is for you

  • This is a first for me - the song as well as many of the scenes in the video - thank you so much for posting this for my/our ongoing memory of Marvin and the beauty of his music - thank you!!!

  • King Marvin.

  • Visit the website of the writer of this AWESOME production Angela Barrow Dunlap. This video sequence was the ending to the phenomenal Stageplay "My Brother Marvin" written by Zeola Gaye and adapted to a stageplay by Angela Barrow-Dunlap (Writer, Producer, Promoter)...If you did not have an opportunity to see this play you missed something so awesome and inspring.

  • MY BROTHER MARVIN was and incredible play and you must see the upcoming sequel MERCY MERCY ME... A MOTHER'S CRY debuting this fall in the US.

  • I was in a boarding school (7 or 8 years old) away from my mother when my bother use to play this album. Without even knowing the lyrics every time I hear this song I'd go to a corner and cry because I miss my mum so much. The emotion Marvin Gaye conveyed in this song cant be missed even by an infant.

  • The man was full of soul,

  • IT GET A VERY GOOD TASTE OF WHAT MARVIN'S BROTHER SOUNDS LIKE...HE'S DOING THE BACKGROUND ON THIS SONG

  • did the play came out on dvd

  • oh how i miss marvin

  • Dear Mr. Kingson, what you did here touches me so much. Thank you for taking the time to do this for a man whose music touched the world. My dear, sweet cousin Marvin. It brought tears of joy to my eyes to see some ofthe candid moments, again I than you deeply.

  • @se95128

It was both my pleasure & honor to create a tribute for a man who gave painfully of himself to all the world.

He has touched and blessed many with his God given gifts & inspired generations to come. May the memory of

    MARVIN GAYE live on.

  • How could anyone dislike this song? You would either have to be ignorant to music or just plain bias! What a testimony to life and creating a melody towards agony. Way beyond his time! RIP Marvin.... Such a beautiful human being and talent. Only God could give such a treasure of a gift! Truly tearful :)

  • AMAZING!!!

  • "There was a man I knew who was smooth as smooth can be...silky silky soul singer- in the words of Frankie Beverly"

  • @debcanada1 Just because his last name was Gay doesn't mean he was homosexual! A lot of his problems had more to do with his tortured relationship with his father and the haze of drugs that he lived through in the late '70s. I encourage you to read DIVIDED SOUL by David Ritz or even better Dyson's (forgot his first name) book which is very detailed.

  • i love this tune, the words touch my soul, when Im feeling blue, this is the track to listen to....Thank you for laying this track down

  • I won't use the word hate, but I really, really, dislike when people have heart-felt comments and start off by saying "I'm WHITE...bla bla bla". Have we not passed the point of telling people what we THINK we are... instead of feeling the music, the passion, the people, the message? Marvin's messages, along with others, are disrespected when one has to validate there color, race, gender and so on...LISTEN.....

  • Thank you so much for posting this well put together video. Marvin Gaye's legacy lives on.

  • Now no one jump me for this ..and I mean no disrespect for this great artist but does anyone think he was so tortured because he was secretly gay and he was supposed to be such a lover of the women, because his songs were so sexually geared towards women's demographic back then,, he was a visionary for his lyrical time. I think he was gay and very confused.. if I am wrong I am so sorry for even saying this thought out loud. I am a very big fan of this man so no one come after me for this please

  • John Jayr Robinson

Missin Marvin and his music... April will be his birthday and his end! Was a great honor to work with his brother Frankie and other family members as well as growin up and workin with his drummer Bugsy Wilcox... Peace and Healin To All The Family, Fans & Friends. The above video work is an awesome tribute to Marvin and the embrace at the End of him Father, his dad, is so touching, and Frankie Gaye's song ("My Brother") to Marvin, his brother, before Frankie passed.

    "JayR"

  • Marvin Gaye, A Total Legend!

I was co-manager of Marvin's brother Frankie Gaye, who died of a massive heart attack. Marvin's nephew Tony Houston was my engineer at C.A.S.H. Recording studio in Compton, CA.

I grew up with Marivin's drummer Bugsy Wilcox. I left from over the family house a few hours before the tragedy. The singer that ranked with Marvin Gaye to me was Sam Cooke, who also had a tradic ending.

"Marvin will always be well loved and missed" Peace!

    John "JayR" Robinson

  • marvin gaye was about to do a duet with the beautiful teena marie but died shortly before... Now they are both together again they can sing all the song s they want R.I.P MARVIN GAYE AND TEENA MARIE XX

  • @gollycom I totally agree..pity ppl don't appreciate this music

  • It is hard to watch this through the tears but thank you so much for creating such a lovely tribute to Marvin..........

  • JUST FASCINATING!!!

Some build nuclear bombs, armies & wage endless wars trying for centuries to conquer a "country".

And some conquer the hearts, minds & souls of the WHOLE WORLD with the sound of music expressing love for mankind, in their just short life.

Half century later, their voices still resonates in the hearts, minds & souls of those they left behind.

Thanks Marvin, you are still living in our hearts & minds.

The God of heaven bless your soul, Marvin!!!

  • @BahreNeGash ERITREA FAMINE

One of the refugees, who said he was a statistician at the country's agriculture ministry, said the nation's food supplies are exhausted. He asked to remain anonymous for fear his family would face reprisals -- other refugees have cited examples of their families being fined or jailed after their flight -- as he painted a picture of spiraling problems in the pariah nation.

  • He was the King of Kool.

  • "I KNOW SOMEBODY UP THERE LOVES ME." YESSSSSS!

  • God, I love this song. Magnificent.

  • Great video. I've been a big Marvin Gaye fan for decades. My brother saw him live on his "Sexual Healing" tour and he told me Mr. Gaye tore the place up. Marvin Gaye had so much talent. What a terrible loss. One of the best videos and I'm checking out music videos all the time.

  • Marvin is one of the very few entertainers that when he was killed I felt like I had lost someone very close to me and it hurt me deeply. I still miss him even today. I believe he is happier where he is today singing beautiful music to God.

  • THE best Marvin tribute video. The way the video is edited to this song is perfect. The overhead shot of him at the piano, playing darts, those 70's sunglasses with the city in the background, all of it. Fantastic. I only wish it was longer.

  • @jmillzz2

Thank you for your insightful comments. I took very special care when putting this together. It was created

for Marvin's sister "Zeola Gaye" for a theatrical play about her brother. One of the most rewarding experiences

    ive had.

  • @oddballnumberone That must have been an amazing experience.

Thank you for sharing this portion of it, I always come back to this video when I'm feeling down.

  • Marvin is the best vocalist/solo artist ever in my opinion.

  • A great upload! Marvin Gaye will be sorely missed by billions of people! RIP Marvin Gaye....

  • marvin is unequivoically the damn BEST ever. So cool and a natural! Marv is not even trying. If you have ever had any sad feelings; then you know where he is coming from.

  • this is beautiful montage! just perfect and beautiful!

  • RIP Marvin you were Way Ahead of your Time! I miss you Bro!!

  • who in the heck is he hugging and kissing at the end?

  • @ttdean That was Marvin's father he was hugging at the end, the very same man who took his life in 84 when Marvin tried to defend his mother during an arguement that turned violent. A very sad day in history because we lost a very soulful and beautiful brother that day....

  • @Mrnightwing21 Wow! That's Marvins father?!! I will never forget that day. April 1,1984. What a great lost, but we still have his music and that will never die.

  • @ttdean Amen to that!

  • @Mrnightwing21 ..possibly the most beautiful human being to grace this Planet. To sing like this one has to go deep within...this feeling comes from the soul. Nobody can copy it.

  • @taildragger53 So true my friend, so true indeed....

  • Somebody up there loves us..... And We love you back dear Marvin !!

  • damn...speechless. this is just, beautiful.<3

  • @souldeeva what are you talking about??

  • @JJKott HAHAHAHAHHA true.

  • d0_0b

  • Nice video. Especially the ending where he is hugging his father.

  • @ombudlady That's not his father. That's his mother, lol. They look exactly alike.

  • @CarolynDanielle610 No, Carolyn that was his father.

  • beautiful x

  • A man before his time. We miss you Marvin

  • Miss u Marvin xx Lifes unkind sometimes...... and to you it really was...

  • IF HE HAD MARRIED TAMMI HE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS SONG!

  • @keltonkng Actually it was written by Ed Townsend along with Marvin BUT he actually didn't feel comfortable with singing a song about his own mortality but did it anyways. In a lot of ways though, art and life mixed quite well as this song can be taken as Marvin singing to the woman in his life and his fans. Oh I agree he had Tammi in mind. I think he really loved her despite his denials.

In terms of actual ruminations on mortality I like "dream of a lifetime" better thematically. I

  • @SPTO U COULD BE RIGHT BUT LISTEN TO HIS COVICTION AND EXPRESSION U CAN TELL THIS CAME FROM THE SOUL!

  • Love !!!

  • Marvin, I miss you; as I listen to your music I still cry at the lost of you.

  • marvin was a bad brother . growing up that was all my mom played on the wkends. u talk about soul marvin was it,

  • I have always loved that song!! Beautiful video!! ::RIP Marvin::

  • sicuramente ha portato un pò d'amore in questo mondo di merda

  • Wow... simply wow. well done.

  • This was an EXCELLENT stageplay with an AMAZING cast. Keith Washington was simply marvelous!!! I saw it twice when it came to Philadelphia 2 years ago. I took my parents and my aunt. They really appreciated it. My mom and her sisters(5 total) would go 2 the Uptown Theatre 2 c The Motown Review. O what stories they tell me! It's great! I miss not having been born in the era..."the good ole days". R.I.P. Marvin, Tammi and all of the Motown greats!

  • love you marvin.

  • <3 i have the biggest crush on him

  • my idol gone like david ruffin sexiest man ever and his son should carry on from him all the best go.glad to know people love real soul.

  • @ mrjtjt- touche, touche.

  • Beautifully done- Thank You

  • He just makes my spine tingle !!!!

  • Next to "What's Going On", which was one of the most significantly socially conscious albums/messages of our time, I think Marvin, with "Let's Get It On", really opened the door to expressing sensuality, even though Isaac Hayes introduced it prior to Marvin. Marv was a true trailblazer. We were blessed to have him. He left such a significant impact in music today, that will definitely go down in history.

  • this video made me tear up a little bit. i dont think ive ever seen anyone else enjoy their passion so much. it would have been infinitely amazing to know this man, marvin gaye. amazing.

  • Somebody up there does love you marvin and also millions of us you left behind, you left us the greatest gift you could, your love through your music and one day we will again be able to tell you we love you again..

whenever im in trouble marvin your songs give me the answer, sleep in heavenly peace marvin xx

  • ... i wish we had more men like marvin around.. why did he have to go? :(

  • i am white, but i so appreciate this music. i love marvins unique talents and the pain he felt is universal.

  • It sounds like two songs being played at the same time... It's still such a wonderful song...

  • God help us w his love!

  • @MrTrueseventh - yeah, i agree. I'm just not a jazz fan. But there is still a lot of deep country music, even though i'm not a fan of country music. Some of that music touches that soul- songs like "I believe" by Brooks and Dun, "Temporary Home" by Carrie underwood, and many others. Beautiful music. But R&B, hip hop, and pop have all lost their way. So much garbage out there now...

  • @mrjtjt all American music has jazz components, some more profound than others

  • @MOREHOUSE80 -probably so. I wouldn't doubt it. Thanks for the info.

  • thankS the powers that be 4 an AMAZING <3 GIFTED HU MAN MARVIN ~ GAYE NAMASTE MARVIN ~ THANK U :) & THANK YOU 4 POSTING ~ SUNSHINE SMILES

  • My Prince..... You were on your way back.....but you didn't realize your true fans never left you..even till this Day..Very Soulful video

  • @mrjtjt ; To my ears a lot of the music made today doesn't have the artistry of this Marvin era ; I don't listen to pop music at all these days ( I'm a 50 yr old white Australian jazz musician , so I can only speak from my experience) but there are certainly still a lot of black artists in Jazz that are very high calibre , artful , unique , amazing musicians.

  • serio

  • WOW! What a FANTASTIC tribute to the LIFE amd work of the late great, Marvin Gaye!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • marvin !!! oh marvin ........we miss you so much

if i should die marvin i want this song on my funeral hoping i will see you in the after life

  • you couldnt be so wrong mrjtjt, you werent envied, most people were poor growing up back then, when black people first intergrated here in the uk they brought there sweet music, and dressed in a respectful way, but the bad blacks outway the good ones, people dont just hate the man for his colour, people hate the man for what he does, and most blacks ruin things because there trying to be black rather than a person and dont want to fit in, that why blacks have struggled for so long.
