@amurphy245 I think it's more a case of they WON'T make them like this any more. All of the skills exist, but the technology to make sounds has advanced and there seems to be a belief that new technology = better sound. I totally disagree having been listening to EDM since 1991 there is no heart and no soul in most of today's modern EDM. Note, to those wanting to bitchwhine, I said most, there are still some genius out there, just not like it used to be - do you think talent evaporates?

@DJnikon I think of it this way, DJnikon: Someone develops a variant of a particular sound, then someone hears it and says "that sounds good! I'm going to try and reproduce it!". So they do, then somebody else does, and before you know it, the genre has "mutated" or "evolved". It happened with the "rave" music of the early 90s, as I remember. The breakbeat-based tracks got faster and faster, and befire you knew it, every new track had that "jungle" sound, and... [continued in next post]

I gave up on this kind of music around '92 because I missed what made it all so great in the first place. I'm all for experimentation, but unfortunately it does mean that there people who think they must follow the current formula to stay in vogue, and that has a negative impact on the dance music scene when you've got a whole bunch of crap tunes out there.
