Funny thing is I'm not surprised the bolts went through, considering Crossbows were originally made to punch right through a knight's steal armor...But considering that is aluminum scales.. ya.
@MrAwsome514 plate armor does offer protection from arrows and bolts depending on range of coarse. i have shot at the steel plate which was about as strong as the hardened plate armor they would have used. but if i were to use a solid wood shafted arrow or bolt i would have must likely had a different result.

Even plate armor could be punctured by an arrow or crossbow bolt. Armor is meant to protect against melee weapons.

it probly didnt help that alot of it was aluminum
