  • GO TEXAS WHOOOHOOO

  • I'm so glad I found your video today. Our microwave just broke and I SO want to replace my white appliances with stainless steel. I was stressing about replacing JUST the microwave for now. I'm sure the rest of them will be breaking down soon, but I probably won't replace them until next year! Glad I'm not the only one who is going to replace them one at a time! ;-)

  • Oh my god, I love this! I have this weird kitchen-obsession and yours is gorgeous!

  • aww its such a cute kitchen! loving the black on white!xx

  • Love the beadboard idea and the stain for the island. I don't have an island but I have room, and was thinking of just buying a unfinished stock cabinets but I wasn't sure if there was an all-in-one product to stain/paint it. Nice kitchen.

  • @Sassymarkrep I got the stain at Home Depot and I also just used it again on my powder room cabinets. It's super easy to use-I say go for it!

  • Hi, Marnie, I really enjoyed your redecorating tips, and have a request. Would you consider putting together a video of how you gather ideas (which-if-any magazines, books, other sources), and then how you put them into action? I.e., do you keep pictures/ideas on the computer, in a scrapbook, etc.? Then do you research online/with friends/a hard day of shopping at the mall? How you gather, organize, and put together the final result would be interesting & helpful to me. Thanks. Kate

  • @puppylove1 That sounds like a great idea, perfect for my second channel. Thanks for the idea!

  • @msgoldgirl whats that ?@?

  • @vikingcheers Look it up on the YT home page.

  • Like right above your video :) its pink ? A lot of people have it ! Its pink :)

  • @vikingcheers Oh...the video/channel banner? You have to be a YouTube partner to have that.

  • Hey so how did you do that thing where its pink ? Please message me :) thanks !

  • @vikingcheers Sorry, I made this video 6 months ago-what thing are you talking about?

  • Can you do a tutorial on this makeup look? You look great!!

  • @lynnajet That one is my WnW Vanity dramatic tutorial, I believe.

  • How many square feet (Or metres) is your kitchen?

  • @lmeuwriise I think it's about 200 square feet-maybe less?

  • Love your kitchen.. I understand what ya talking about I also live in Texas... Love Garden Ridge.. wouldn't know what to do with out that store.. Awesome during Christmas time...

    Take care.. Audrey

  • ok so this is bugging me the whole time.... do you own a set of Cutco knives or are they another type of knives?

  • @sweetrencreations They are Wusterhoff (I have no idea how to spell it and I'm too lazy to go from my room to the kitchen to look). :) I've had them for almost 14 years and use them daily-love them!

  • Thank you so much for this video! I am wanting to update my kitchen too, but don't know where to start. Can I ask you how you chose or even found your designer? I live in So Cal but I am having trouble finding someone affordable and relatively experienced lol!

  • @5995char My best friend is in design school and she was interning with the designer that I used. In your case, I would try to find someone that a friend or acquaintance used so you can get a feel for how they work. You might also want to try Angie's List for recommendations.

  • @MsGoldgirl Thanks for the reply. I really love your kitchen btw and always say to my husband 'See that's how I want our kitchen to look!'

  • @5995char Be sure to start a collection of pictures from magazines (or even show her my video) so the designer knows exactly what you want. Be firm and very clear from the beginning (especially about the finances) and it will make your life a lot easier.

  • I totally love the idea of the information by the phone for the kids...I'm making it tonight for my little one and sitter ;)

  • I love how your island is the opposite colors of your counters and cabinets. Very cute!

  • @pinkbonanza That was a battle that I won-the designer wanted to paint the island a soft mossy green. I won! :)

  • I am so jealous of all your cabinet/kitchen space! And the tip about the important information was great - I am going to do that right away.

  • @debri70 You of all people can certainly use that babysitter information! The kids look great in your videos! Miss you!

  • Your make-up is BEAUTIFUL (as well as your inside, at least it seems to be beautiful ;-)) Greetings from Germany <3

  • @KatjaMunich Thank you-it's from my WnW Vanity palette-Dramatic look. I love my German subscribers!!

  • So pretty! My kitchen is one of my favorite rooms--good thing, right??! Thanks for sharing, I love stuff like this! xoxo Lisa

  • @LisaLisaD1 Considering how much time we spend in there, we better love it! :)

  • Do u live in Austin,Texas?

  • @kajubaju Nope.

  • Happy New Year !!!!

oh i love your make up in this video .....could you please remake it in a video tutorial using the exact same colors...? oh i would love to watch it...

    Love & kisses

  • @lilyspeaker I did-check out my Wet N Wild Vanity palette Dramatic look video.

  • Beautiful job. Did you have to sand the cabinets of your island before applying that black stain?

  • @tammyhien Good question-yes they sanded it down once before staining and then I believe they did it again with a very fine grade sandpaper in between coats of stain.

  • Very pretty kitchen!

  • I love your kitchen, and thanks for sharing. I have to agree with you on shopping around and taking your time when purchasing items for your home-you can save a ton of money that way. Thanks again.

  • Your kitchen is beautiful, and you look absolutely gorgeous in this vid!

  • I totally agree! Happy New Year!

  • Love your kitchen! Thank you so much for all your tips! We are re-doing our kitchen in a couple of weeks, I'm so excited!!

  • @HappieBeauty Good luck-it's an ordeal but worth it in the end!

  • Thanks for sharing. It is a beautiful cozy kitchen.

  • Marnie, your kitchen is GORGEOUS! Loved this! xo

  • You did a wonderful job on remodeling your kitchen. It looks really nice! Home Depot is great to! We had them put in a tile floor in our bathrooms, closet, pantry, kitchen, foyer, living area, dining room, and deck for a very reasonable price. They also have a great warranty. We will use them again if we ever decide to remodel the rest of our house. They do such an excellent job! My husband and I also agree with replacing our appliances with updated ones one at a time as they wear out.

  • @Blush900 We used Home Depot to put in the wood floors in our house and they did a great job. Sometimes it's better to go with a big company because you know if you have issues in the future they'll most likely still be around to deal with them.

  • Big houses in Georgia and not much money either!! I use to live in Dallas for quite some time..not missing it..maybe because it was never home! But Love your kicthen..mine is huge as well, only downfall it is just my honey and me...:(( 3000 sq footage and hello?? Great tips Marnie...Love all the colors! WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A SAFE AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEARS!! U look gorgeous!!

  • I love how down to earth you are!! Thanks for the kitchen tour. Have fun in Paris!!

  • So envious! I love your kitchen. Thanks for sharing.

  • It's gorgeous, Marnie! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely kitchen with us!

  • You are very generous to share your kitchen with us. And you're a very savvy shopper! Great job!! ~Samantha

  • Great tips ! You have a gorgeous home !! always take the time out to enjoy it with family and friends...that's the best part about owning a home !!! btw your eyes look stunning !! xo Jessie

  • Thank you for showing your kitchen! So often you would show it in the background ;I would find myself intrigued by your general style. You have a beautiful home and I'm sure I speak for many who watch your videos that we want to see more of your home.

Also, I too think you look most beautiful in this video.

    Have a wonderful trip.

  • @CAshorty2010 You've actually seen most of it-or at least part of every room on the first floor. :) Thanks for the compliments!

  • You look gorgeous, love your make up! Hope you had a great holiday! Happy New Year sweet stuff! Everything really IS bigger in Texas, love it! xxG

  • @LovePeaceandLipGloss Had fun visiting your home state last week, but wow-No Cal is WAY different from So Cal! Have a great New Year!!

  • loved the kitchen tour, Marnie! I also LOVE all of the natural lighting that comes into this room!

  • @katiethegreater That's what sold us on the house-all that natural light. Tough to film in, though.

  • Thanks so much Marnie.

  • Beautiful kitchen Marnie, we have a kitchen my hubby built most of it. we are remodelling our downstairs bathroom to have a wet room instead, we are always looking for bargains. my back is bad and my mobility is terrible at times , so this will save me climbing the stairs to the bathroom.

  • @longcara You are so lucky to have a handy husband! Mine is not allowed to do home repair! :)

  • i luv your kitchen especially the island, you've got great taste.......

  • hey,why do you kinda look like u're about to cry?oh,and the kitchen is sooo pretty,i've always been more of a kitchen rather than livingroom kind of a gal.so i really appreciate a good large pretty space for that...

  • Beautiful kitchen...very welcoming!

  • Happy New Year Marnie. Hope your vaca went well even if it was an unexpected destination.

Love your house and that big kitchen is to die for. I have such a tiny kitchen (after having a big one, in an apartment no less and I really miss it.

  • Lots of great tips. I think the best thing is that you didn't rip out stuff that didn't need to be ripped out. Great job and very beautiful!

  • I love your kitchen remodel and your tips. Very beautiful!! I want to ask you what brand of dishwasher you have? I am looking for a new one. I am also looking for a new sink. So the e faucets will be excellent. Happy New Year!! Rebecca

  • @VictoriasRoses I have a Whirlpool dishwasher and the kind of faucet I have is called a bridge faucet.

  • Beautiful kitchen! Thank you for the tour. Great ideas- especially the wainscoting. :) your make up was very nice, too. ;)

  • gorgeous! Welcome home!

  • love, love, love! Sometimes people think I spend a fortune on stuff (ie: clothes, furniture etc...) when in fact it came from Walmart or my favorite spot Target! The majority of it it is clearance deals! Love it thanks for sharing!

  • I love your kitchen. You did a great job! I've been wanting to do my kitchen over for a long time. The only is I have a very small kitchen, and don't want anything in white. It looks good on other people home, but for me I have to have colors LOL. Also I'm doing my kitchen in sunflowers,I love sunflowers since a kid. I'm glad you showed this, gives me ideas where I want my major appalanices to go.

  • @rakesfunnyfarm I understand wanting color, but something to keep in mind is one day you're going to probably sell your house and most people like to personalize their own space. So, future buyers may be turned off by blue granite countertops or colorful backsplash tiles (just a few examples). You can always add color with accessories or accent pieces.

  • Marnie, I so appreciated this video. I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen, and it basically looks like yours. I too want to paint the cabinets white, my hubby almost passed out when I told him I would paint the wood, lol. But it's all good now. Your home is beautiful!!!

  • @MsMakeupjunkee Tell him the cost difference between painting and new cabinets. I guarantee he'll love the idea of painting them then! :)

  • Hey Marnie! I'm glad that you are home & everything is okay! I have heard all of the news going on in the UK, & worried if you guys were okay & not stuck in an airport! I'm glad you are home and back to making your videos! The towel looks great in your kitchen, I'm glad you like it! I have had several request for house tour videos & I think doing one room at a time is a great idea! That way I won't have to straighten everything up all at once! Glad you are home! Talk to you soon!~Theresa

  • @BeautyforEveryday I love my towel-and my boys are under strict orders NOT to touch it! :) Thank you so much for thinking of me!

  • Marnie- my home is historical... Translates - not a large kitchen. I have solid oak cabs. Called the painter to paint them. They nearly died and the contractor too!! I told them since I lived there and was the "boss" ... Just paint. Lol. They look great. You did a GREAT job , Sweetie.

  • @4evryoung58 I think that is the key to a good remodel-remember who is the boss-YOU are! Your home must be beautiful!

  • You give great advice and good point with consumer reports!

  • @chios121 Consumer Reports has never steered us wrong-especially with cars.

  • @chios121 I just bought some-now I have to install them!

  • @chios121 Which is why I live in Texas and not LA! :)

  • Great Tips:)

  • I love your decorating style. It has a French Country look...which is one of my favorite styles. I am working in painting and decorating my living room and dining room now. Next, I'll be working on the kitchen. Like you, I like doing a lot of things myself. But too me, that's the fun part! Awesome job on your kitchen...you made great choices. I totally agree with you on the plantation blinds...I love them...so I'm gonna split the difference and go for the faux plantation ones :)

    ~twyla

  • @twylajoyful I sort of combined coastal living with French country. Definitely casual, though. I hope you do a home tour soon!

  • @MsGoldgirl

I like it...I don't like anything too contemporary or formal for my home. I want it to look "lived in" . My style is pretty much eclectic. I have a mixture of styles. I don't care for matchy matchy furniture. And I really love old or unique pieces of furniture...just adds character and interest. Anyway, I could go on and on about decorating all day...something I love as much as makeup!! LOL I would love to do a home tour...can't wait to get it all finished. Talk to ya soon :)

  • Thank you for sharing this with us as you do with your makeup. You always give me ideas; I love it!! I hope you had a wonderful vacation. Please keep the videos coming - you rock!!

  • Beautiful kitchen Marnie! You gave me some ideas too so thanks so much!

  • oh and i LOVE how you remodeled your kitchen! :)

  • I love, love, love your kitchen. We have had our house 2 1/2 yrs and thinking about changing some things in the kitchen, I have antiqued distressed white cabinets, but still have laminate counters and vinyl floor. I really like the honed black granite because I love soapstone too. I am thinking about slate flooring and white subway tile backsplash. Thanks forl the tips, I love the butter yellow on the walls too!!! We currently have black appliances, but will do stainless when they need replaced.

  • @MemomMon You might want to rethink the slate-they have to be sealed fairly often and they are really hard on your feet and back. There are some porcelain tiles that mimic the look of slate without the upkeep. Try googling it to find out more.

  • your eyes look absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!

p.s so sad I couldn't make it up to SF but I hope you had a great time! you should come out to LA soon!!! :)

  • @AshleyKMakeup I'm sad we didn't get to meet, too. I had a great time, but I'm glad to see the sun shining again! More likely I'll come back to LA before I go to SF again!

  • @MsGoldgirl seeing the sun is nice isn't it? haha I'm so glad you had a great time and when you do come to LA we can definitely meet then :) I know that you would love it here :))

  • I love watching your videos! I'm glad you're back. Nice kitchen!

  • Fun, I am getting ready to share my bathroom remodel tour. I did my master bath and guest bath!

  • @Mrsblessed101 I can't wait to see it-the master bath is next on my list!

  • Beautiful kitchen! I really like the black & white combo. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Marnie, great job on the kitchen. I wish you had before/after pics. Did you set up a temp. kitchen somewhere else? I've heard this is a good idea if the project takes a really long time. We're planning on redoing our kitchen in the summer of 2012 so, we'll be able to grill most of our meals.

I'm in the middle of remodeling our 3rd floor bath and master bedroom right now and I'm doing all the hiring and cooridinating for the contractors. It's a job, in itself.

    You did great!

  • @TheBakingViolet The whole thing took about a month. I didn't need to set up a temp. kitchen because I was never without my appliances except for two days, but I always had my microwave. I was really strict about the timetable and when things could be torn out and how quickly they needed to be put back. I wouldn't let them rip out the counters until I had all my appliances delivered. I scheduled the installers to be there in the afternoon after the granite was set. It worked out perfectly!

  • omg! I was about to ask if you made it to London, but I see you went to SF! Love love LOVE your kitchen! That island is to die for and so neat your designer had that marble left over from another job! AHH!

  • @ginabinawina99 I love leftovers! :)

  • Yay, thanks for sharing and the tips are great esp when picking up non-shiny granite counter top. Your kitchen is spotless and seriously you had me get up on my butt right now and do some cleaning here. hahaha

  • What is the exact color of your kitchen?

  • @empriss80 You mean the paint on the walls? It's Sherwin Williams White Muslin, which really isn't white at all, but a pale cool yellow.

  • Did u make it to your vacation with the crazy weather? Missed your vids!

  • @ChevonneStaton The London trip was cancelled, but we scrambled, got a refund, and took the next flight out to San Francisco instead! I'll talk about it in detail during my haul videos, which I have yet to film!

  • Fabulous ! Thanks for Sharing your great tips & tricks , I think just a having a good basic style sense is the key here and the savings come naturally , And Marnie I love your Style ~Mary~

  • @LovesmyViolet Mary-you are too sweet! Thank you!

  • Hi Marnie, I am laughing b/c i've been in my house for 9 years, too and our cabinets are being distressed right now as we speak with an antiqued white and our island will be a distressed blackish color, too. We are also going with the Stainless appliances. Great minds think alike :-) Hope your Christmas was great and Happy New Year!

  • @thehipchickonline Great minds definitely think alike! That is too funny! I hope you'll consider a kitchen tour when your kitchen is camera ready! Happy New Year to you, too!

  • thanks so much for sharing. in the market for my first home (yea and eek!) so its nice to see what you can do to update existing fixings in the house if necessary

  • @wwp901 Good luck with the house hunting-remember to overlook the cosmetic things you don't like-all that can be changed. Just make sure you like the "bones" of the house!

  • So glad to see you back!!! I dont care if you are reviewing tissue, fly swatters, whatever we are gonna watch!!!

  • @smpg1221 I recommend the "Bosley" model of fly swatter-he swats and eats the dead flies-no mess! :) Glad to be back (although this was filmed about a month ago!).

  • YAY your back we missed you!

(sidenote i got Flowerbomb for christmas from my husband and i love love love it)

  • @avasm4 I am SO glad you like it-I got the rollerball so I can take it with me when I travel-what a great present!

  • Yea...WE MISSED YOU!!!! Nice Kitchen Momma.
