  • the most important in here is to listen to the sounds. there's no harmonyno melody no clear rythm but very interesting sounds especially of gutiar

  • @TheEdgarvarese12 With this sort of music, an open mind is essential.

  • @JazzVideoGuy do you know where can I listen to his album time will tell? i couldn't find it anywhere. thanks

  • all i can say is thank god in America I have the freedom not to listen to this.

  • Love it.

  • great!!

    excellent working.

  • Lol i can't help but laugh, however i am studying extended techniques for guitar as an essay at my uni so i have to research this type of work. What people don't understand is that they think they are playing because they are trying to be pretentious and new, this is not the case. They are leaving the box that is mainstream music and creating music that can be enjoyed and respected by musicians and non musicians. Its all about emotions really.

  • listening to the music of biber

    greg

  • I love it.

  • cool, very interesting for me,this Trio makes some news

  • noodle noodle noodle

  • This is one hell of a performance. Just the amount of energy this group puts out is a reminder of Trane with Elvin Jones.

Dom is an extraordinary guitarist who uses his technique to further the music.

  • Throw it at the wall and see what sticks!

  • How long do they play for?

  • this is also pretty tame by todays standards. They still play conventional notes and stays with the changes. Plus he clearly plays the melody.

  • edcerc, which artists set the standards today please?

  • i soppose evan parker, anthont braxton, guys like that. In terms of guitar listen to derek bailey, what hes doing is a more unconventional.

  • Thank you I will check them out.

  • Dom Minasi is definatley technically awsome. He is one of the few guitarists to excell at this type of music. He is staying with the form to whole time to say you want to hear him swing and that you cant hear the melody is terribly unhip. People need to get with it because there are great artist taking music to new limits who arent getting their recognition because of stuborn and square people who just dont get it.

  • i don't thing he's playing just random notes here. i hear a lot of precise licks from him. i believe that many of those runs up the guitar are more like a don pullen glissandos, which, granted, isn't all exacting. but i think most of the music i've heard here lacks some compositional organization. that's where i lose interest.

  • Would like to hear him play straight ahead swing...listened to sound clips on his website..hmm the jurys out on this guy still for me...either hes genius or a hack, cause the solos Ive listened to are not atonal, they are random notes, then again guess its the lets just splat the "paint on the wall" art

  • I respect you Johnny 574, you don't have to "understand it", this stuff eventually grows on you after repeated listenings. I must admit there are times when I'm in the mood for it. These musicians are honest and do enjoy playing it. I guess it's more like abstract visual art (where are the recogniseable "melodies"? i.e. shapes of subjects, things, people etc. in abstract art?)and yet it can be "tasted" and liked (or disliked!) just as any other form of art...

  • It's such a shame...people are walking around and talking like nothing is going on. Atonal/avant garde/free jazz will never get the recognition it deserves. Dom rules, those people talking in the backround should be castrated. peace

  • man i listened to this up until 11 minutes and i couldnt hear hte melody for green dolphin street... i dont know if i just have a bad ear or if theyre just playing nonsense.. i mean dont get me wrong im sure it takes talent to stay together for stuff like that but i really dont hear any melody and the guitarist is just playin a whole bunch of stuff that i dont understand it seems as if everyone is playing against eachother.. i dont understand it

  • he plays it at 3:10

  • Nothing IS going on

  • Indeed, it's just noise. And while everything is subjective I'd say about 95% or more of people that hear this will think it's noise.
