  • Infernal Hail from OBNOUNCE, i just love my Ibanez RG2228 8-string guitar using Bareknuckle Aftermaths...

  • Lot nicer than a lot of the bits that feature ebow usage around these parts...

  • this should be on Kid A.

  • the best thing in this vid is the TSHIRT

  • I like this. Sounds nice.

  • right on, marvelous tonal communication. kudo's on the 8(i have a pair)

  • Evokes feelings of longing, of love lost, remembered.

Solitude and time, such poignant lovers.

  • nice t shirt

  • Hi there Craig !

Nice moving piece and doesn't look too complicated to play. I'm just starting out on slide + ebow and would appreciate a few tips on your effect / amp settings to create this type of music, as I'm a real big fan of Pink Floyd and would love to play this style of music.

    Best Wishes . . . Eddie ( U.K.)

  • Start off with a nice clean tone, add some reverb and an analog delay, experiment with using a volume pedal for swells. Using alternate tunings on the lap steel will help close the gap between notes and octaves on the fret board

  • @craigmcarthur1

Many thanks Craig ! Keep up the great videos ! Best Regards . . . Eddie (U.K.)

  • nice sound!!....the shirt is amazing..

  • Yo man this is my second video, watching you guys, and the skills are phenominal. I'd like to sample some of your guitar in my music. Please contact. You guys are talented. Please don't ever stop laying those guitars....

  • i bought your bands EP you guys definately deserve it

  • Thank you very much for buying the EP. Hope you enjoy it. It was done on a budget so the mastering isnt 100% but sounds ok. Thanks again

  • Could I ask the tuning of your lap steel?

  • I jump between a few tunings on the lap steel depending on what I am playing. When playing rock and blues I tend to stick to standard open tunings like open G, A and D. But when doing this sort of stuff the tunings become abit more bizarre and individual to each song I am playing. I think in this tune its a weird G tuning.

  • AWESOME guys!!!!! like youre music RADIOHEAD!!! he looks better than Thom yorke

  • just won with the Hail to the Thief shirt

  • That was beautiful. Very atmospheric.

  • FUCKIN AWESOME!!!

  • there was NOTHING nice about the sound coming outa that POS.. WTF do you think your doing ? it sounds HORRIBLE!!

  • nice ebow/steel combo.... are you using a volume pedal as well under your right foot ?

  • Yup. Digitech Whammy pedal under my left foot and an ernie ball volume pedal under my right foot. The whammy is set to a basic octave mode.

  • 8 strings Ibanez. =) Wheres the metal?

  • finnaly! someone on you tube making the ebow sound good! great job!

  • I wouldnt say its crap. Its a demonstration of, I feel, a fairly original use of the ebow.

  • @SuperBlackElvis A. stupid name. B. if you dont like this amazing post rock style stuff that chills you out then go and listen to something else and dont leave your shitty comment on a good video.

  • Ooooh Explosions in the Sky stuff. Gonna check it out! Fantastic playing, Craig and other-dude.

  • nice tone, cool tunes. are you still cranking the nova delay? such an excellent sounding pedal.

  • Yup still using the nova delay, very much a fan of it!

  • Hail to the Thief. Right. On.

  • love the shirt hail to the thief is awesome

  • awesome post feeling!

  • GREAT use of an 8 string, love it

  • Someone's been listening to Fripp/Eno eh? ;p

  • Nice shirt.

  • nice dude

  • line 6<3

  • thats awesome

and im loving the radiohead shirt

  • that does sound good.

  • Amazing.

  • Loving the tune. Very nice and chilled!

  • i take it ou guys are fans of Meshuggah?

  • I wouldnt say so

  • @maggot6910 youre a fool

  • Am I looking at an 8 stringed guitar?

  • Yup you are indeed

  • Krayzee Babyee

  • @craigmcarthur1

    lol wut

  • @Sixalienasa an 8 stringed guitar that sounds like a piano?! =o

  • Don't you know where can I buy this EBow please? Do you think that it is possible to buy it in Europe? I've seen a lot of your videos since last few months, I think you are able to became a really famous music-maker :) I like your music!

  • I bought mine from my local guitar store. There should be tons of online stores selling the ebow. Just do a google product search. Or ask at ur local guitar store if they can order you one

  • Hi, I just wanted to say that I think your videos are wicked! I've learnt loads about what effects pedals suit the way I play.

I also wanted to say that your band is really good, it sounds perfect!

I've also got a band, we're called 'The Cloches'. Our stuff isn't as pollished as what you do, we've been playing for under a year. I'd appreciate it if you checked us out. We're on Myspace, Facebook, Youtube and we've got a website.

Anyway, cheers for another great video!!! Jack

  • What do you think it's better, classic bow or ebow?

  • The both sound vastly different and involve hugely different techniques, so not really a fair comparison. I can make noise with a bow I cannot with an EBow and vice verse. If I could only have one in I would probably pick an EBow

  • this sounds great!

  • funny, the tune reminded me of radiohead and then i see the shirt...

  • Yup I am a huge Radohead fan, so its bound to sneak thru at times!!!

  • Nice t-shirt! And music of course.

  • Hail to the thief!!! You guys sound great!

  • Incredible, I've never heard something like that before.

  • It's yours? I love it ._.

  • Fantastic! Its great!

  • Cover bleed by meshuggah!

or failed creation by Divine Heresy!

jk sorta. Just noticed the 8 stringer in the back.

  • 8strings ftw

  • Sorry for mulitple posts! Feckin thing wouldn't work so I kept re-trying!

  • Again, very nice piece of music you have there. I have now posted a video with live loops and E-bow see what you think?

  • Oh my!! Hairs standing on end, that sounds somewhat on the special side. Nice hearing an E-Bow being used well. Gonna get me one of those bad boys.

  • You defintely should, they provide endless amounts of fun!!!

  • Yep, have got one now after hearing you. Written a piece with it including my usual thing, which is live looping. I am recording a video for it tomorrow so maybe check it out when I get round to posting it on here? You may like. The 2nd upper harmonics mode on it is great, so many spooky tones.

  • Cool nice one, Ill look out for the video

  • Craig, you are a genius. This band simply has to get signed, if only so you can play this on stage.

Have you thought about setting up your own label? Just an idea.

  • Thanks for the kind words. We havent set up our own label, but we did record and release our EP 'Airpor Syndrome' on our own. We will eventually get round to selling it online haha

  • That sounds fantastic anyway. You've got a creative commons liecence and that? Best place to start probably. May need a PRS liecence as well but you might know that already. Now I'm just being random, sorry!

I've actually been watching your band for years, just never commented on the vids. I don't have an ipod or itunes so I can't get your EP even though I've wanted it since I heard you were making one.

  • It should eventually be available to buy as CD we will mail it to u. U can buy it from ost online stores, Amazon Napster etc. The myspace has a few teaser tracks etc might be worth watching

  • where can i get a copy of your ep?

You guys are awesome if you ever get signed and make loads of albums dont go all shitty and mainstream like muse just did.

  • Its available as a digital download on most of the main mp3 sites amazon, itunes, napster etc.

We have the CD's pressed and ready to go, just figuring out the best distribution route online at the moment. They should be available very soon as a cd.

I havent heard the latest Muse album, but I am a fan. They kick ass live also.

  • Hail to the Thief!

  • dam craig this is some trippy music you got going here.

you and your band have a very dominant Pink Floydish influence dont you?

  • Yeh pink floyd r a big influence on me, but as a band we have a huge list of influences

  • Damn I like this !

  • niiicee!!!

  • You should really think about getting a guitar with a fernandes sustainer system.

  • I've had a look at that, sounds very cool. Just have to make do with my EBow for now tho

  • Yeah its awesome , you can sustain full chords , and when you put it into harmonic mode its just sex on butter.

  • screw the sustainer, get a moog guitar!!!! too bad they're $6000 though... Sounds good enough with the E-bow for now, lol

  • not only the price, they're ugly lookin' guitars.

  • i hear there's a 3000 version coming out (it's a start)

  • Buena atmosfera hermanos .

    me gusto mucho

    *****

    saludos desde Mexico

  • Ebow and a lap guitar..... Ingenious

  • HAIL TO THE THIEF, Nice demo :)

  • Great Demo!

  • This is so dredg "el cielo" nice nice nice

  • I liked this alot, really spacey and atmospheric!

  • I've never been disappointed by Radiohead fans... Good job, guys, I'll try your MySpace site.

  • very jony greenwood your play styleee very good videosss keep doing sorry fot my english i speak spanish

  • somebody tell me how this thing works? :S

  • The until sends an electro magnetic pulse to the string, which vibrates it.

  • Well Done bro.

    5 *****

  • fuck yeah dude that was sick..and kudos to your buddy with the 8 string..thanks for the vid.

  • yea thx maan ;)

  • hey guys you are really awesome!!!

which amp does the guy in the background use?

    i see it´s a line 6 but wich line 6?

    greets

    O.T.

  • Both of us are using our practice amps in this video. I am using a Line 6 Flextone II. Gary (my bandmate) playing in the background is uing a Line 6 Flextone III.

Thanks for the kind words, hope that answers your question

  • Enjoy listening to you guys, whether its moody and atmospheric or progressive rock it's all good. I look forward to hearing the album, you deserve to do well, your not afraid to take risks, the music industry needs writers like this prepared to take chances and experiment or we'll be left with pop idol and manufactured bands out to make a quick buck, and music hits stalemate. All the best to you, i hope you get the rewards and recognition you deserve.

  • Thank you very much for the kind words, always good to hear positive feedback! Cheers

  • This song should be like a little interlude on the LP.

    Which you...you are making...right?

    ...

  • Funny you whould say that, as it was written to go into another song, but it may be used as you said as an interlude mid album.

We have just released our first EP 'Airport Syndrome' its available as a digital downlaod from most major sites i.e itunes. A full CD release will follow, hopefully next month.

We have another EP and a full album written and in the pipeline. This song may be on the latter.

  • Wow, that'd be awesome.

I also wanted to mention something else. I downloaded the EP off iTunes, and, well, I'm hearing a lot more Dream Theater and progressive metal than what I'm used to hearing on this channel, which is more classic prog/ambient post-rock.

Could you tell me if it's just me, or if that's the direction the band decided to go in? because I was kind of expecting something like Sigur Ros-meets-Yes. AS is good in it's own right, don't get me wrong, but it surprised me a little.

  • 'Airport Syndrome' is collection of songs we wrote when we first formed the band. Our style of writing has changed alot since then. We draw on influences from a wide variety of bands. 'Airport Syndrome' is probably the most straight ahead rock stuff we play. newer material has more of the Sigur Ros elements you mentioned. No one genre seems to prevail, very eclectic. We have two more records written already, a four track EP and a full 10 track album. You'll probably prefer the album!

  • Do you like the POG?

  • Never used one dude, so cant really comment Im afraid.

  • this one has a really cool ambient feel to it. that ebow's a pretty neat thing.

  • nice hail to the thief shirt.

  • very nice.Hey guys, do you have a band?

  • Thank you. Yeh we do, the song we are playing is one of ours. Band is called Vinyl Future. Links in the video description dude. There r loads of vids of us writing songs at rehearsal, in the studio and playing live on youtube if u search for us. Cheers

  • sweet shirt

this reminds me of explosions in the sky a little

    but not too much :]

    you guys are awesome!

  • really good, well done!

  • 8 string guitar + lap steel. very interesting.

  • Indeed. Lap steel is a strange beast but it can sound excellent if you know how to use it.

Personally i want one now. :( bank account says no)

    Gaz

  • Hail to the..... Lap Steel! Nice work man, keep up the demos.

  • Nice job-dude, very melodic.

  • Craig, how much was the Lap steel guitar, and where you bought it?

  • No idea I'm afraid, my old brother bought me it as a birthday present a few years ago, which was very nice of him.

  • epic

  • nice shirt!

  • nice

  • man i love your sound...you are great musican..but you know that..: )

    peace!
