Akasha is supposed to be smarter. Aaliyah made the character feel a lot dangerous and unpredictable, but she fell too easy for Lestat's trap. She should know her kin better and not trust him so completly.
That scene where everyone is sucking Akasha's blood, I dont see what's stopping her from moving her hand and making the vampires burn.
Anyways the movie is great, and I love how it evolves around Lestat provoking every vampire and having the queen of the damned by his side.

Also the whole thing between Edward and Bella really is just like Jessie and Lestat in this movie. You haven't seen/read the similarities between the two series?
@NikolaiCarpathia Volturi family reminds me alot of many of Rice's characters. How the young blond haired girl (I forgot her name too. You can tell I' m not a Twilight fan.) is so young it might have been considered politically incorrect to make her, but she is one of the most deadly ones out there. That reminds me of Claudia from Interview With The Vampire. Then there is the whole "Vegetarian" concept where the Cullen family only eats animals so they don't have to kill humans. Louie did that.

All of the things I mentioned before Anne Rice brought to the table. Most Vampires were only shown as some kind of monster like from Steven King's Salem's Lot. I just feel that if Meyer had any real talent she would have created her own world instead of building her story on the back of another writter's work.

@NikolaiCarpathia You should read Meredith Ann Pierce's The Dark Angel novel series. She writes a very convincing Vampire romance while still be very original.
@BlueNeko1 I might just have to check it out when I get the chance. Personally, J.R. Wards 'Black Dagger Brotherhood' is my favorite Vampire Series. She makes practically an entirely new twist on it that I just love. Paranormal Romance / Action and whatnot. You might want to look into it.

@hawise04 *sigh* Because most vampire fans don't like seeing vamps fangless, sparkling, or happy and in peace. Most vampires do not get their own happy endings because of their predator natures and because of other stuff. They are almost always on top of the food chain and are supposed to see the humans as food. Most vampires are killers and most of them enjoy it. At least that's how I see them.

You rarely ever hear of Vampires killing each other and when they do it's looked down upon no matter what story or plot thread you are reading/watching. They are killers in the sense that humans are killers for eating animals.

@GoldenVal88 I haven't read the series, unfortunately. But I really want to. Some vampires definitely want to be more humane (not necessarily human) and "normal" at least to be able to interact with different creatures and not have them die.

@itachideidara4eva Yeah, but that is the dilemma. Centuries are one thing... Millennia are something else entirely. The enormity of such vast sums of time yields a type of psychology that is quite unnerving to explore at times. Eternal life can be a curse, because most minds do not have the sophistication and strength to endure. They can barely endure a mortal life. So while it is humane in ideal, as a practical solution, it could be quite inhumane.

@hawise04 Because vampires are killers, and they freaking LOVE it. Whatever you might read about Lestat, for example, will tell you that he LOVES killing even if he isn't the mindless murderer Louis so desperately wants to make out of him, he still adores the hunt. A love between a human and a vampire will NEVER flourish, the human either ends up dead or turned and they eventually leave. The whole idea of a Coven like the Cullen's just goes against the very nature of a vampire. It spoils the fun

Now ThiS is the Song to Play when Edward was about to get himself exposed in New Moon when he thought Bella killed herself. The crowd was going WiLd when they thought Edward was gonna get exposed to the humans and be killed for it.
