  • "What if they got a President that way?"

Unfortunately, my dear Sir, they did.

  • "Just last week I strangled a man for batteries"

    ~Alan Alda

  • bill hader..

  • haha he not qualified because hes not crooked.

  • lol about him asking the doctor

  • tower heist good movie

  • Alan Alda is a beautiful person. Read his 1st book while taking a holiday in Lake Garda, loved the holiday and really loved his life story. Saw him on 30 rock and he is blended in so well .His happy personality is contagious.

  • "Through early morning fog I see

visions of the things to be

the pains that are withheld for me

I realize and I can see...

    That suicide is painless

    It brings on many changes

and I can take or leave it if I please."

I love the MASH theme song !! :)

  • I like that even though he was exposed to things at such a young age. hes managed to maintain a healthy loving marriage for a large portion of his life. Such an achievement.

  • pure class

  • Thank you God for Alan Alda and M*A*S*H !

  • Lovely man.

  • He always says he doesnt want to talk politics but yet as soon as he sees something stupid he just cant resist the urge to give a lesson in common sense.

  • I've been watching Mash ever since I was 9 years old, and I've loved it ever since!

  • George brings out the best in people he chat's with...that said, Alan Alda IS the very best!

  • he still sounds the same since mash

  • I absolutely love when he laughs

  • Each and every time I see M*A*S*H it is always new, and never feel bored watching it. And this guy is one hell of a guy.

  • haha my name is Alan Aldao

  • i love u Pierce

  • no question about it, THE BEST TV SERIS EVER CREATED

  • hawkeye is a smart guy, why do i see you juxtaposed with the braindead sleeping guy hawkins? you let the guy go, doc, ffs.

  • i'm not that old but i loved watching M*A*S*H when i was a kid. best tv series i've ever seen

  • M*A*S*H forever

  • He always makes me feel good. I see his face or hear his voice or watch his acting or read his writing and I feel better. He makes us see the possibilities of life.

  • Does anyone else find his voice really relaxing?

  • he's a hero

  • he doesn't talk about politics because he wants people to make up their own mind, and not just copy his becase he's an actor.

  • alan alda is one of my favorite actors I know he doesn't act anymore but he is my favorite up with john wayne and a person that lives in the same town as I do the great JAMIE FARR if you don't know who he is look him up NOW!!!!!!

  • last I've seen him in a movie was "Aviator"

  • I am so grateful to this man, and his father, Robert Alda. As a Pianist and a lover of Gershwin, Robert Alda's expose' of George Gershwin captured my heart and my ear and I play (or try to play) Gershwin whenever I can. As a doctor in MASH, Alan Alda had such an impact on my daughter, that after college, she became a NY City EMT and worked in China as well in a Leprosy village. I thank these to men for the blessing they were to my family.

  • I love Alan Alda. Even the times when he directed M*A*S*H, he is so creative, funny, and smart.

  • i could listen to alan all day

  • Well two things.

    1) I'm luck enough to live so close to Canada that I get to watch great shows like The Hour here (Damn, I love Canadian T.V sometimes)

    2) (and more important) Alan here is one of the more intelligent, bright individuals of his generation. A true mark of excellence.

  • my mom and dad lov mash

  • You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself. ~Alan Alda

  • I allways like hearing what he has to say verry smart man.

  • Who the hell is george stroumpolapoulapousmous.....

  • why

  • I still cry my eyes out when watching the last episode of M*A*S*H. I think it is the best series ever on TV.

  • I think the ending to St. Elsewhere was one of, if not the, best endings to a tv show.

  • u do know that all 11 seasons of M*A*S*H r out on DVD, right?

  • @frosty923Yes of course i´m a German Guy and i´m watching MASH every evening

  • @frosty92314 For me it's not so much I'm sad its over, but more I'm happy that people even today find it a good show which tells me that ppl will be watching mash for a long long time to come . :) . It's just one of those cult classics to me . A hidden cult classic known only to ppl like u and me . But Im fortunate enough to ahve the entire DVD set . :) .

  • Alan Alda-Top 10 Actors of All-time.

  • i love his character Hawkeye from mash.

  • @elfilicious13

    Top One. :)

  • I hear you, bud. Good for you

  • I'm a medical student and even though he is a actor, he is a truly inspirational character in M*A*S*H.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, he can probably walk on water too.

I haven't seen it but I'd love to watch that episode. :P

  • He is the f%$#ing MAn. ALDA ALDA ALDA

  • he sounds the same as he did in mash alan alda rules!

  • He says it exactly as it is. We are getting too many politicans that's aren't qualified. I've often wondered how professional military people can take orders from civilians who have no professional experiance in military affairs. Alan A has always seemed a very honest, down to earth person.

  • when i met him, i had chills when i saw how similar and youthful his eyes are just like back in the day.

  • He hasnt changed from M*A*S*H much and hes still funny and thats why people STILL like him...

  • he barely looks different, the only distinguishing feature of his changed look from mash is the grey & somewhat lost hair since mash, skin features changed but now he still looks very similar ti when he was "Hawkeye"

  • So what do you guys think of Alan Alda's books ? Never got around to his books.

Love all his acting since the 70's and more recently his narration / hosting of Scientific American . Give a shout out when you get a chance .

  • he looks and sounds exactly the same as he did in the 70s,but now he has white hair

  • His laugh is legendary. One look at his face when hes laughing and you know he hasn't changed one bit.

  • his voice is exactly the same as it was in MASH!! And he has the same humor!

  • I love Alan Alda, he is great in M*A*S*H, I have them on DVD's... and the first book, I also have, the first real english book I have read since school...

  • ohhhh i'm soooo sorry i honestly don't know how it is to suffer if it was suffering it was never that bad. =(

  • ha i watch mash all the time. 4 hours a day!!!! I LOVE ALAN ALDA! HE was soooo hot!

  • Alan Alda, The only piece of his work I seen was M*A*S*H. Does that mean I don't understand him? Nope. I've seen various remembrance tapes with the cast together and a clip of him with Carol Brunette. I find Alan Alda to be extremely humble and he seems to be like the type of guy we will miss if he ever does die. Kinda like Don Knotts, Harvey Korman, and Lucille Ball.

  • his first book is fantastic

  • For a long time I just thought of Alan Alda as "the guy who played Hawkeye". But after reading his books, and learning about his life, I have to say, he is SO much more than Hawkeye. It's a miracle the guy survived his childhood, but he's come through it all with such a great attitude. Now when I think of Alan Alda, I think of the sweet, genuine, intelligent, humble man, and not the character he played decades ago.

  • Alan Alda AKA Hawkeye is my greatest inspiration! Thanks :)

  • Man, these are two of my favourite people. Great interview!

  • Ok sure thanks for your opinion

  • It's one of the best M*A*S*H Tribute vids and my favorite vid on YouTube. And opposites attract! What the fuck do you have against Alan Alda anyway? You always bash him!!

  • Hey M*A*S*H and Alan Alda fans, check out freckles2185 Hawkeye Far Away

  • "Hey M*A*S*H and Alan Alda fans, check out freckles2185 Hawkeye Far Away..."

Hey it's a stupid video and it was an equally stupid idea to have Margaret and Hawkeye have a fling! They're nothing alike!

  • Yet that was an underlying thing for the Whole show. It's always shown throughout the series that Hawkeye respects but also seems to have a crush on Margret. Watch Season 1- 11 and you'll see it too.

  • is the host really called that?

  • Yes. It's a Greek name. Not that uncommon. :)

  • haha he is my best guy freind's grandfather. =) My freind is also an amaizing actor. he plated julian marsh in 42nd street this summer at my town theatre. =) alan came to see it, and all the parents were like "OMG ITS ALAN ALDA!" haha sweet guy.

  • does your friend look like Alan Alda?? :)

  • I love that joke he makes about the surgical procedure and how he learned it on mash it really brought out the hawkeye in him.I'm glad he's still working and I loved his character on the west wing!a truly great actor

  • Your a hero to me alan thank you

  • That was sensational. The fact that he is so like he is on MASH is amazing. So philosophical and thought provoking. Alan, old mate, god speed.

  • An awesome guy, the world would definitely be a little worse of a place without him.

18 and thanks to the moms, always loved M.A.S.H

and he is just so young and alive.

i know that show is from the 70s and 80s and what not.

    but still.

    its just unreal.

  • and he STILL sounds like he did while Playing Hawkeye

  • yeah.

    i know.

hes one of my favorite actors.

  • he is my third fave. First is Radar, then the Catholic priest (I know howto pronounce his name but i can't spell it, then Hawkeye

  • im 14 and i like mash

  • I'm 12 and like M*A*S*H

  • im 18 and love mash

  • This guy is a really good interviewer. Alan Alda is awesome too.

  • Alan Alda is awesome.

  • i'm 23 and love MASH

  • Alan Alda is 72 now. He was 36 when M*A*S*H started and 47 and visibly graying when the show ended.

  • Alan Alda is without a doubt the greatest actor who ever lived. And MASH is the greatest TV show ever made.

  • I've always wondered how old he is now. Which makes me wonder how many he's got left, which I don't want to think about. MASH is a timeless classic that will live on forever, and so would Alda's reputation. Long live Alda! Long live MASH!

  • i have all 11 seasons

  • If you love the charactor Hawkeye on MASH, then you HAVE to read Alan Alda's books. They are great!! Long live MASH!!The best TV show in the universe! No matter how old! :)

  • for show!!

  • I got a autograph from him

  • I'm from Poland and I have 18 years old and I LOVE MASCH and ALAN ALDA!

  • Ya tottally great show....i won all the dvds in a compotition..lucky...

  • God I love MASH. I don't think any other show has ever had such awesome writing.

  • MASH was great but it did go on 2 or 3 seasons too long. I would have called it a day at the end of the 70's (after about the 8th season). There were no more new characters introduced by then and the stories were getting quite mawkish.

  • what an amazing actor,Mash is my fav.show i have bought all the seasons on dvd all 11(yeah expensive)but totally worth it.and have read his books really good reads.

  • MASH is the best show ever, I watched the 30th anniversary special, and it was actually very interesting to hear how the characters came to be

  • awesome show indeed

  • He is one of the funniest actors i have ever watched on T.V. I loved MASH

  • AskAlanAlda . com is dopeshow.

  • Hawkeye is the best TV character ever.

  • I love M*A*S*H soooooooooooo much it is the best show EVER i watch it every night i have 6 different seasons and Alan Alda is the best actor!

  • best show ever.......best actor ever!

  • Baby killer? For fucks sake it was a t.v. show get over it, it wasn't real. He went crazy on the show you moron and he also suffered for it on the show, great acting if you ask me.

  • I love Alan Alda. Very good book too I might add.

  • Alan Alda is one of the best actors ive ever watched and seen!i love hid original show M*A*S*H*, and hes a very flexible actor he has a sad side, a funny side, and everything inbetween. Thanks for the entertainment Alan!I hope to see you in the movie.

  • Baby killer?I have been reading these comments and I am confused.Probably because I have not seen all the episodes of this show.Which episode are you all refering to and how do the things he does on TV make him a bad person?I don't see the connection.

  • He purposely had it wrote in his contract that one scene in every episode had to be in the operating room during a surgery to show the atrocity's of war, if thats bad then what is good.

  • ExplorerDS6789 you can call him a horrible person all you want but a person who flies from NJ to LA and back every weekend for the sake of his kids doesn't sound so horrible to me. Second if you don't like him shut up, stop trying to stir up shit and watch something else.

  • what is he suppose to have done on tv in front of people?

  • whats wrong with you judging someone for playing a role on television how rude can you be.

  • I have a question for everyone who has read the comments posted by ExplorerDS6789. Do you think this person is not only an asshole for insulting Alan Alda & M*A*S*H* but they also need to get a life? Please let me know.

  • Aaahh. I love Alan Alda! I'm only 14 & I fin dhim such a fantastic Actor. He was SOOO handsome in his younger days- I had the biggest crush on his... younger self x] Haha

  • Alan made MASH succsessful. It wouldnt have worked without him.

  • hawkeye sets the mood in about every dang episode

  • @ExplorerDS6789 YOU SIR I HOPE GET SOME SENSE M*A*S*H WAS THE BEST AND STILL IS SHOW IV EVER SEEN

  • @theleggett171 Did i ever say it wasn't?

  • alan alda was a spunk back in those days and he still has his charms about him great interview and good to see him again

  • alan alda was a spunk back in those days and he still has his charms about him great interview and good to see him again

  • very good interview

  • Alda was good, the interviewer was sub par

  • nice interview, good job

  • love alan alda and MASH- i read both his books and i highly recomend them. The first is about his life and the second is about the meaning of life- both very well written, very intriguing novels, and i'm really not a big reader.... only books i read last year were his.

  • This guy is a horrible interviewer. He comes across too phony. He needs to relax and stop thinking about his reactions and the fucking camera.

  • that was funny on the docs face was like holly shit how did u know that.....I did most of them on M*A*S*H...
