  • Does anyone know the name of the piece of music that starts at :44 because I'm fairly certain that its not on the soundtrack for the film...while the other two pieces in the trailer are

  • research shows that the human brain doesn't judge the merits of an idea solely on logic, but also on how intrinsically true the idea feels. Perhaps that's why people judge the quality of movie base don the emotions they have after it's over rather then if the movie is logical. If you're not emotionally pleased with a film then you look for logical flaws, if you are emotionally pleased you don't notice or disregard logical flaws.

  • This is a beautiful movie on so many levels.

  • the story of my life.. haven't found Nino though.. :(

  • My favourite movie <3

  • oh I forgot, SOMEONE just happens to commit suicide off of a church and lands on the mother as they walk outside? And no one really cares at all? That's it your mom dies from someone jumping on top of her, and it just whisked away within ONE SCENE. Shouldn't that be a major factor in your life? It's like oh by the way my mother died when someone jumped off a church and landed on her, SOMEHOW I don't have Post Traumatic Stress disorder, even tho i was 8 and there was blood all over & my mom died

  • @GetThisThingCrunk wow dude, i can honestly and truthfuly say i am so glad I am not you. Your response to this movie shows you have missed the magic. The film is incredible.

  • @uthikoloshe so what's the magic? What do people like about it.

  • @GetThisThingCrunk It is an emotional reaction to the film, and you didn't have it. As if we both tried a drug, and while i got high as a kite, you felt nothing.

I am sorry for your loss.

  • @uthikoloshe exactly I agree, while an emotion response can make you like a movie, it doesn't make a movie a GOOD movie. I always find it odd that when people dislike or hate a movie they explain their dislike or hatred in details, they can describe actual parts of the film that are stupid etc. But when someone likes a movie it's simply, it made me happy. Shouldn't there be exact details of why a movie is good as well.

  • @GetThisThingCrunk Ok ill take a few stabs.

The music is amazing, listen here watch?v=LO209GwYCr8 and here watch?v=xQZ0AQHYgYI&feature=related

The director and his camera work are quality. From caffine induced fit to whimsical wondering and everything in between. The way the movie is extremley coloured to establish a dreamlike atmosphere, and how clean Paris is. I could go on for several posts about the photography side of this film.

  • @uthikoloshe She (Tatou) is perfection for this roll. She is up there with Audrey Hepburn for being beautiful. The story is funny (the suicidal fish for instance, the way she sees herself) She is an ultimate do gooder. its romantic, as good as I have seen.

Theres layer after layer of quality here.

The movie Downfall is truely disturbing. Cidade de Deus is shocking. As much as those movies disturb and shock me, amelie produces positive emotions of similar strength :)

  • @uthikoloshe I'll give that the music is good and look, and the actress playing Amelie does a good job. But It's still overly hokey, why do we need to know what everyone likes, that doesn't apply to anything and why do they like such trivial things. Plus the things I listed previously, other movies are like this they get criticized for being unrealistic. I don't see how good sound and looks can cover that up. I don't see it as a movie that should be winning awards. Or 8.5 at IMDb

  • @uthikoloshe for example people say this movie makes me happy, there are tons of happy go lucky movies, they're not all considered great so how is this one different.

  • Just watched this, excepted it to be good but I didn't like it. Whats with the narration? It was exactly 5 O'clock, okay? A bug is squashed by a car? Ok, what's the point? Why did she fall in love with that guy? Is there any reason at all? How do you even know that she does because a painting of a duck told you? Then they have sex the first time they meet? Breaking and Entering and making someone go insane is a little extreme for picking on someone. The entire plot is based on Princess di dying

  • True masterpiece.

  • Now this is what I call a movie. It doesn't need crappy CGI special effect, violence, shooting, and over-the-top humor in order for the movie to be brilliant. All it needed was a well-written story, good dialogue, good performance, good chemistry, and a well-design camera. This looks beautiful, and it's a flawless movie that is so hard for anybody from around the world to dislike. It's just one of those kind of movies that hollywood needs for the public to see.

  • @BlackAnime67 actually it did have CGI special effects. Probably not needed, but were there. Which makes it worse it add it when not needed.

  • Amazing Movie.

  • Ugh, this movie makes me feel ALL of the feels, I just feel like crying from sheer joy every time-- makes me remember that not all humanity is terrible.

  • hulu.com has this movie now! watching it right now :) the only thing that sucks is that there's commercials :/ but it's free!

  • @sailtheplains I feel the same way as you. No matter how old I may be, watching any sexual scenes with my parents is very uncomfortable.

  • What the fuck is this?? I LOVE IT!!!!!

I've looked passed this film now I must watch it!!!!

  • find someone who see ur heart but not ur... sure there will be someone for you. learn frm cnverstaion "what the boy expect from you" and move accordingly.

  • can anybody tell me some movies like thoose by jean-pierre jeunet? i've seen this one, delicatessen and city of lost children. any other movies by another directer similar to thoose of jean-pierre?

  • @erykahbadu172 "a very long engagement" with Gaspard Uliel and Audrey Tautou it's a great French movie by Jean Pierre Jeunet.

  • @norskasbj1 ah thank you! yes i've heard of this movie i should deffinetly check it out!

  • @erykahbadu172 Theres a similar french movie called Angel-A starring Jamel Debouzze (the fruit vendor's assistant in Amelie)

  • I have a question: I'm 14, this movie is Rated R, but is it so bad that I would not want my parents around when I watched it?

  • @mirroredhour It is a lovley movie, but it has two short but pretty uhm, memorable sex scenes. I know I wouldn't want to watch this with my parents, and I'm 16

  • @OxylOnpani American..? What is it about nakedness and sexuality that is so scary to you people? This has always puzzled me.

  • @dojohansen123 It's part of our culture. We can't help what we're raised into. The younger generations, like mine, grow out of it much easier now. But watching a film with any kind of sex scene in it with my parents--it would just be really awkward.

  • i thought this was supposed to be a scary movie

  • @LetUsSee001 You were wrong.

  • Watch it for free with subtitles on hulu.com :D

  • what's wrong with that chicks face?

  • @MoldytoasterMedia Nothing, she's pretty!

  • funny how I watched this at new year's eve and it pierced deep down to the core of my heart.. It makes my freezing heart melt!!!!

  • dallon weekes.

  • one of the most beautiful color film,

thumbs up if u agree ^^

  • i absolutely love this movie it's definitely one of a kind :)

  • Someone please tell me the name of the pieced played at 1:11

  • It's "J'y suis jamais allé" by Yann Tiersen.

  • even tho this movie is a french movie. LMFAO i think its hilarious and its the best movie everrrrrr

  • trailer does it no justice

  • Now this is all you need to make a movie. No special effects as fillers, just a camera and a brilliant story.

  • @Destroyer4292 Well. It DOES have special effects..

  • @twobarells Yeah, but I'm talking about the typical American film which has like an explosion or something EVERY 3 SECONDS!!! I really feel that American cinema lost its touch when Michael Bay started directing.

  • @Destroyer4292 agreed, and I'm an American.

  • @dfserkan No one asked you

  • This is the weirdest movie ive ever seen! It had a garden gnome in it! :S

  • Whats the name of the song that starts at 0:46??

  • @ROULERS1

It's "Mouvement Introductif" by Yann Tiersen from his album "la valse des monstres" (well there are three tracks named "Mouvement Introductif" in the album, but this one is the first one)

  • This is the most beautiful movie I've ever seen. So whimsical!

  • @TheWhyteRayven I'm trying to get my boyfriend to watch it with me, he is american and i'm french so i don't have to read the subtitles but i told him americans love it just as much. I hope we watch it i really want him to watch this amazing movie!!

  • Amazing movie!!

  • I am kind of like the guy version of Amelie. It worries me how much I identify with her.

  • @neonoir77 hah, yeah right, you are totally saying that to get laid!! ;)

  • @carmencapel69 I know right ! llolololl

  • This is a beautiful film, with a beautiful soundtrack.

I strongly encourage anyone who watched it to watch it in french, with English subtitles. Watching it in English really does take away part of it's beauty. Sounds dorky but it's true.

    Love this film.

  • Yann Tiersen is my inspiration.

  • Absolutely wonderful soundtrack.

  • magnificent film with pleasurable soundtrack. :)

  • Hipsters gonna hip

  • I wish I had a gf like that.

  • Hi everyone! One of my friends, a top graduate of USC film school wrote and directed this short film called THE BROKEN HEART OF GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE. It's a whimsical, fun, romantic comedy with a similar sensibility to AMELIE. The trailer is listed under my favorites on my YouTube page or you can find it by searching for the title. The entire film is available on the iPad app Play Festival Films. The link for the iPad app is listed in the description of the trailer. Check it out. Thanks!

  • I started loving music of Yann tiersen !

  • loved this film. somehow reminds me of mr. nobody

  • 91 people are miserable bastards I'm glad I don't know.

  • the french and americans make the best movies.

  • If you wanna realize how bad is Hollywood then watch this movie !!!

  • @aurox07

Hollywood movies are mostly created for a wide audience. The audience that likes simple jokes, a lot of action, blood and no depth. But sometimes good movies come from Hollywood as well.

  • A beautiful film. I wish I was more like Amelie : )

  • Jean-Pierre Jeunet is awesome!!! He is one of the greatest directors of all time! You should watch his other movies! He has his own stile, which is very distinctive... and the actors are almost the same... and in my opinion: The BEST! If you liked Amelie... there's no way you could hate his other movies! Peace out! :)

  • The French are so lucky to get movies like these, while all ADD American movie-goers want is Transformers

  • @ingsoc3125 I agree in general, but America has great filmmakers, too. You just have to know where to look. Terrence Malick comes to mind.

  • @Ashiman12 Very true

  • @ingsoc3125 that's a very ignorant statement. the greatest movies of all time are american movies, you just have to know where to look.

  • @Patfitz1234 I'm not saying all American films are bad, I love Quentin Tarantino, Francis Ford Coppola, Spielberg, all those guys. You're right though, I was making a rather broad generalization by saying that.

  • @Patfitz1234 according to whom?

  • @ingsoc3125 I'm French and fond of movies, and I'm telling you film like this does not come so often =) In America you've got : Martin Scoresese, Terrence Malick, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, The Coen Brothers, David Cronenberg and many others.

We do have a few great directors of course but not enough to made the audience feel that the French Cinema is a great (nowdays) cinema. CAN'T WAIT FOR "THE ARTIST" THOUGH !!!

  • Watched just trhe first hour of this film in my Film class in college and I was blown away, probally one of the most amazing films ive ever seen.....

  • How could you dislike this video? I'm absolutely in love with this soundtrack! I'm a huge Yann Tiersen fan. About two years ago, when I first watched this trailer, I honestly thought that at 0:57 it showed her breast, which didn't make any sense to me. Now I understand that it is in fact HER HEART. Thank you for the clarification, and all the negative votes....

  • I am soo,, wannabe in love.

  • lol

  • >>>>>>>>ae<<<<<<<

Make you laugh, make you cry, especially the part about Amelie's neighbor artist. I adore this movie because of the music which is amazing, because of the language.Because of this movie i have strong will to live to the fullest.♥.
